The Way Home  by Lindelea 4 Review(s)

The description of the remembered conversation between Frodo and Pippin is wonderful, as is the prompt to look and so find the water bottle and figuring out how to get his drink, as unsatisfactory as it proved in satisfying his thirst.

Now, is he willing to retrace his steps and jump over the foul stream to get back to more hospitable haunts?

Author Reply: I'm glad you enjoyed the conversation. Bill's hobbits have become such a part of him by now...

After carefully perusing all the maps of the area I could find, it looks like the only possible path is to do exactly what you described!

Thanks!

As long as the voices continue to guide Bill, he's in no danger of dehydration or starvation, and that's good.

Hope they'll protect him from danger, while they're at it!

Author Reply: Come to think of it, I could use a few Voices of my own to remind me of essentials.

They do provide protection in the form of warning and guidance. But there's more in Gandalf's bag of tricks that will emerge soon enough. :)

Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to share your thoughts! I really appreciate it.

All he can think about is "his" hobbits.

Author Reply: "His" hobbits have taken up residence in a corner of his heart, and so he carries them wherever he goes. I'm sure they help him to keep on going, as well. (I find the mention of hobbits lifts my spirits quite effectively, for my own part!)

Thanks so much for reading and pausing to leave a good word.

Bless these Voices, and the memories that will give lightness to Bill's thoughts.

Author Reply: His hobbits are so much a part of him now, it seems only right that they should accompany him on this perilous journey, if only in his mind and memory.

I'm glad of the Voices, too. While an animal might naturally be able to make its way homeward through unfamiliar territory, these are especially dangerous times in Middle-earth.

Thanks so much for coming along on the journey and pausing to share your thoughts!
