The Way Home by Lindelea | 3 Review(s) |

I bless Gandalf for laying the Voices on Bill. Again, foreshadowing from RoTK! The Way is shut! At least we know neither he nor Aragorn and his companions died. Now, to find his way out of that narrow space. Hope he can find something to drink! Author Reply: Exactly. Foreshadowing Sam begging Frodo not to go where he can't follow, as well as the Paths of the Dead. (I wonder who the "tall and kingly old man" who was "aged beyond guess of years" was?) Thank you for reading and pausing long enough to share your thoughts!

It appears that the words of guard and guiding, as Gandalf put it, will accompany Bill all the way back to Bree, whatever his route there ends up being. They will speak to him as often as necessary. Author Reply: That time frame made sense to me, from the way Gandalf described the words he'd bestowed, including "wherever you wish to go" and "quite as much chance of ... getting home as we have". Of course, the "quite as much chance" doesn't seem at all like a sure thing! Still, I'm glad Gandalf took the time and thought to do what he could for Bill. Perhaps I am not completely alone after all. Dear Bill. That thought will make his journey home more bearable. Author Reply: "You are not alone" is a good reminder for every person, I think. (((hugs)))
