That was lovely. I had always wondered what Gandalf’s arrival in Imladris at that time would have looked like. It makes sense that he would be a bit overwrought. And distraught. I guess it would be like a brother or a cousin betraying you? The Ainur are kind of all related? I guess? It is an interesting thought. How very sad. Your characterizations of all these characters are spot on! Amazing writing!!! I loved it. Now that I think about it, it does make sense that Elrond’s first thought would be that Aragorn had been taken by the Ring, rather than going to Saruman when betrayal is mentioned. I wonder who else makes the list for being so important that they would have small hope without them? My guess would be Aragorn (for certian), at this point Frodo (because if he betrayed them, he could have given the Ring to the Nazgûl…), Elrond, Galadriel, Gandalf of course… I would be curious to hear your list if you had one in mind! :) Thank you so much for reposting the work that was deleted. It is so sad that people are that twisted as to target a site like this. It has been sad to see that some of the work of people who aren’t posting anymore and don’t seem to be active anymore has been lost too. Some if not most of those stories are probably gone forever and it really is sad. I hope a lot of the people who haven’t been posting for a while will come out of the shadows (figuratively speaking) and repost their work, but we’ll see. I hope this review finds you well! Author Reply: Thank you! I’m happy you enjoyed it - I really enjoyed writing this one. I suspect it was good the Hobbits weren’t there yet for this, and that he had the opportunity to decompress a bit with an old friend before they arrived - they needed his strength too much to see what I have to imagine must have been the fallout of this particular betrayal. I think at this point probably just Gandalf and Aragorn. Galadriel is important, but Elrond has seen too many important Elves fall in his long life to think them lost without her (or him for that matter). At this point I don’t even think he would necessarily be thinking of Frodo - though after the Council I think Frodo may move up into that position….

I don't know if I read this story already or not! I guess one of the unexpected benefits of the breach is that reposted stories will be featured on the home page when they're re-created, making them more visible. Thank you for taking the time to repost. I'm looking forward to diving in...! Author Reply: Yes - I thought too, "Well maybe people will enjoy seeing them again - or for the first time." At least there's that ... We take the upsides we can get!
