Ah, but Dirhael is all too right about being the proper sort of influence for a toddler. Glad his mother is willing to bake berry cakes again.

This was so cute and bittersweet too as we know Aragorn will grow up far away from Halbarad. Author Reply: Thank you so much! Bittersweet in its own way, yes--I wanted to show one of the moments where they would have grown up together, but those moments were few and far between indeed.

D'aww! Loved this. And I gotta say, it's begging for a sequel where adult Halbarad brings it up to Aragorn. Author Reply: Thank you so much! And yes, that sort of a sequel has been on my mind...I imagine it would bring both of them a great deal of amusement as adults!

A sweet idea indeed it proved. Real berry cakes will be far more satisfactory than pretend ones, I suspect. Author Reply: I should certainly hope so! :) thanks so much for the review!

Oh, this is SO GOOD. It just made me grin like crazy. Little Halbarad and Aragorn reminded me so much of a couple of the boys my sister and I teach every week. And lord knows I've seen enough poorly-written children to know just how tricky it can be to hit a characterization that feels true to life. Very cute, and very well done! Author Reply: Aah, thank you so much!! I definitely took inspiration from this one little boy I used to babysit for Halbarad *g*. And thank you especially for the compliment about writing kids--I'm always slightly reluctant to do it because I'm afraid of writing them in a way that isn't true to life, so I'm so glad it felt that way to you!

That was just adorable, and just the kind of thing kids will get up to when a notion enters their heads. Idea to action, without thought for consequences in between! Author Reply: Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I used to work with kids a lot, and I thought back to the sort of nonsense they'd try to pull under my watch :)

Very true to life! Aragorn gained a more educated, safer, trained, and luxurious life in Rivendell, but he gave up the fun of boys his own age leading him into trouble. Author Reply: Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It's always something I've thought about with Aragorn in Rivendell, being the only mortal child there...I like to imagine that before he arrived there he got a fair share of playtime with children close to his age :)

Ah ha ha!!! This is perfection! Your young Halbarad is so sweet and mischievous, and little Aragorn such an innocent--or at least I thought so until he started throwing mud at his big cousin! Little Aragorn apparently has a mischievous streak of his own, doesn't he. :D The angry mothers and Dirhael coming along and doing what Grandpa's always do... it's all just exactly right and a sweet glimpse into life with the Dunedain. I loved it! Thank you so much for this gift! (And of course, my mind being what it is, now I'm wondering if at some future time in adult life, the two of them remember this and laugh...) Author Reply: Wheeeeeee, you are so very welcome!! Yes, I imagine that Aragorn's got a mischievous streak of his own...imagine what might have been had he remained with the Dunedain! It would have kept all of the adults on their toes, to say the least...so glad you liked the mothers and Dirhael, too! And ahaha, as we discussed, I'm now wondering about that too! I'll bet they got a pretty good laugh out of it :)
