| If fascination is all it was, then it's good it didn't go farther, but pain there is either way. Hopefully the other was a better match and now Frodo does not have to leave a wife and children later. I find it quite fascinating in the Quest for Erebor that Gandalf recognized the reason, veiled as it was, that Bilbo remained single - and it fits Frodo just as well.
