| Lovely story of love and friendship and support and caring. I especially liked the chapter from Elrond's perspective...not enough of the father/son moments for these 2 once Aragorn had his destiny revealed to him. Nice job. | |

| Aragorn did make the comparison between the exercise he's doing and that of a horse, after all! Loved the chuckle there. No, Elrond wouldn't let the rest know of that moment the son of his heart reverted to the comfort needed when he was small; but it obviously did help. And there is that commitment so obvious in the movies. A worthy tale. Thank you. | |

| Oh, my... I almost chose not to read this story when I saw it was written for an angst prompt... in my experience, stories of the "angst genre" too often lay it on far too thickly and unrealistically.... Well, another silly prejudice bites the dust! Again, I learn that a skilled author can always overcome the potential weakness of any given "genre". This is very tightly written. I like how you slip in revelations -- like how the wound occurred, or the progress of its healing -- so casually that their impact is a shock. And the emotional reactions fit each character and the situation very well. I really enjoy seeing one event from the point of view of several characters, each with a unique perspective. I don't recall seeing you post here before, Marethiel, but I'll keep an eye out for stories of yours from now on. Nicely done! - Barbara Author Reply: I'm so glad you enjoyed this, Barbara, and thanks so much for taking the time to write. Yes, this one was an interesting challenge, where Aragorn and his accident actually became the plot device! Writing from each of the Elves' POV was an interesting exercise, and I had to be careful not to go overboard on any of them. I found Legolas the greatest challenge, mainly because I see him so differently than many of the "Leggy" writers. :-) I see him as so masculine, a really male energy, strong and stalwart, and yet able to toss barbs back and forth with this Mortal who means so much to him.
