What's in a Name?  by Lissas Elves 5 Review(s)
KloseReviewed Chapter: 3 on 4/5/2010
Lissa, this is fantastic! Funny and warm, but also with an added dimension of poignancy, as seen in the first two parts. I loved the story behind "Hair Shout" in the second part, and the warm friendship and camraderie between Fingon, Maedhros, and also Cirdan (yay Cirdan!). Not a combination of characters one often sees in fic, but it was nicely done.

Bored teenager Arahael in the 3rd part just about killed me - "‘And then there was this king, this hair guy…’ - LOL! Just fantastic.

A most enjoyable read, Lissa, thank you. :D

Author Reply: Thank you for your lovely review, Klose. :-)

I'm so glad you enjoyed the ficlets! They were great fun to write, too.

Actually Darth's 'Hair Shout' explanation (and other explanations) nearly did me in (I hope you read his essay? If not, I can highly recommended it); how he can make such dry matter so entertaining is beyond me. *g*

Oh, I love it! Heh!

Author Reply: Thank you, Larner. Boys will be boys, right? :-)

Hair Shout sounds good to me....

Author Reply: Well, at least it's quite original, compared to 'Third Finwë'. *g*

That is so funny! And very vivid. One sometimes gets the impression that life in Imladris was so peaceful it must have been a bit dull - but not this time!

Author Reply: Well, the peaceful atmosphere must inevitably have seemed a bit dull to a lively young man. (However, I do feel a bit guilty towards Erestor.)

Well done Lissa,
Unfortunately I was drinking soda while reading this and laughed so hard it went up my nose. ugh.
Believe it or not, I share the same experience (as well as the same outcome) as young Arahael, when I decided to mention to my 7th grade english teacher who just happened to be a Catholic nun in an all girls catholic school that her name also meant donkey in Italian.

Just like Erestor, my mother was not amused. **sighs* Mortal or Elves, Adults just can't take a joke.

Thanks for the laugh

Eliza

Author Reply: Thanks! Terribly sorry about the soda-in-nose incident. ;-)

It was so funny to hear that you once did something similar. I'm sure Arahael would have enjoyed a discussion about grown-up people's sense of humour, or lack thereof.
