| Hair shout! Hair-larious! And well noted that Cirdan's beard is out of line for an elf - that always intrigued me. Perhaps all that sea air had a stimulating effect on his facial follicles. | A wonderful commentary on the naming of Fingon as well as instructive on Maedhros's personality and regrets. Author Reply: Thank you for your lovely comment! After reading the 'Linguistic Foolery', I wondered how a name could possibly be thought to mean 'Hair Shout'. Rhapsody explained it to me. (However, I still believe Fingon's name was supposed to mean 'Cunning Commander'!) I think Maedhros would have been very interested in this, the last - as he turned out to be - scion of Finwë's house, and more than a little envious of his cousin. | |
