| Fëanor would be a difficult father to please, I think! But I like how we see that his own desperate mastery of everything was fueled by a desire to please Finwë. Fëanor loved his father very much....and in the end, Finwë returned it. But maybe not when he had a new bride! |

Poor Maedhros. I could wish that he had learned that he did not need to be perfect to please his father, but I suspect that belief was already deeply engrained. And he kept his brothers on the mission for as long as he could.
It's a good thing that only the book caught fire - and that Feanor turned up just when he did. I hope he insisted on a bit more playing for his young son. For a while, at least. |
