| In the prequel to this I half-thought that Frodo and Mel were goingto fall in love and get married. I guess I was half right. They did love each other dearly. I'm sorry for Mel and Sam. I know they must miss Frodo awfully. Author Reply: I considered that, but nothing ever came of it. She was his very good friend though. They were almost as close as Frodo was with Sam.
