(Of course, obviously I had forgotten about that last quote, about no one walking in Imladris... may have to re-think my timeline..... ;-D)

Author Reply: Lol! I had to re-think mine too – hence the fic!

Hi Ithildin!

I enjoyed these very much, but especially the last one... I too, have wondered when Celeborn sailed, and whether he took Elladan and Elrohir with him. I conjectured that he sailed after Arwen died, but did indeed take E&E... it would break my heart if they just faded away! I, too, believe that the world of men would no longer heed the Elves as the generations passed.

Very nice work, thank you!

I’m so glad you enjoyed the stories. And, I’m with you on believing Elladan and Elrohir sailed – I couldn’t bear the alternative either! Thanks for the review!

I like the letter, but the quotes were just as interesting.

Taken literally, the second quote might indicate that both Rivendell and Lorien were bereft of elven-kind when Aragorn and Arwen passed away. The first quote is pretty clear that not all the elves, but the High Elves for sure, have departed from our world. Nice choices.

I like that you see Celeborn having good reasons for saying with his people in East Lorien. Most people don't get that, imho.

Author Reply: Yes, a literal interpretation does make an intriguing argument for Rivendell being abandoned before Aragorn’s death. Taken alone it may not be enough to constitute proof that Tolkien intended it to mean exactly that, but it’s what this fic was based on.

And, yes, I think several factors played into Celeborn’s decision to stay when Galadriel left; a key one being the responsibility to get his people off to a good start in their new home. Clearly he stayed on beyond that need since he went to Rivendell for a time. I think reasons included Arwen/Aragorn and, even more so, the twins, as well as his own reluctance to leave Middle-earth.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!
