This is a lovely collection of ficlets. My favourite is the Thranduil/Legolas one (of course!) - I like the way they each face battle, and take time in the midst of that to wonder how the other fares. I've always liked the part just after Helm's Deep, where Legolas looks north and knows that war has already come there. My only gripe with Celeborn's letter to Arwen is that I believe Elladan and Elrohir stayed in M-E until Aragorn and Arwen died, then they sailed with their grandfather. But that's just me. Nice work. Jay Author Reply: Thank you, Jay. Yes, I always liked that passage about Legolas looking north and speaking of his home too. It’s one of the few insights Tolkien gives us into the Elf’s emotions. And as to the timing of Celeborn’s (and the twins’!) departure – I guess I tend to take things literally and the quote from Appendix A seems to make a strong case. However – I wouldn’t go so far as to call it proof. That fact alone gives us enough wiggle-room for another interpretation. To believe they stayed for Aragorn and Arwen is certainly a good one! I'm happy you enjoyed the stories! Ithildin *(

A fleeting moment of concern and yearning nicely captured. Author Reply: It was a fleeting moment; they didn’t either one have much time for reflection under the circumstances. Thank you for reading and reviewing, Redheredh! Ithildin *(

This is the kind of situation Tolkien creates and then leaves understated for us fanfic writers to tease out. Legolas did seem to be able to sense war coming upon his father's people, so this seems reasonable to me. Author Reply: Ah, those dangling threads, those ‘what ifs’, those roads ‘less traveled by’… that’s what makes Tolkien’s world so much fun to play in! I was amazed when I realized that the two battles took place on the same date. I’m glad the concept seems plausible to you. Thanks so much, Daw, for reading and reviewing! Ithildin *(
