First Greens   by Vicki_Turner 3 Review(s)

I don't have the right words to describe how much i like this story ^^! I kept hoping, all from the beginning, that Aragorn would tell Durrin of his birthday, so I'm very pleased with the ending! ;)
And with the last sentence, I can let my own imagination to run free and think of what happens next...

Aha--so NOW the young man KNOWS why this day is especially hard on Captain Thorongil. A birthday is a bit more personal a thing than a mere celebration of First Greens. But nice to see each personal tradition is mirrored here in the camp.

And the Haradrim are indeed immeasurably rude not to purposely let folks know they are coming! Heh!

This story would have been much sadder to read were it not for the constant presence of Aragorn's friend Durrin. His loyalty and concern for Aragorn really came through. But I felt so bad for Gilraen with her empty place setting. For the others who miss Aragorn on his birthday, there is the hope, at least, of happy reunions and long years ahead, but she must be more aware than anyone that every day she misses seeing him is a day she won't get back.

I hope you write more about Aragorn's time in Gondor. I would like to see more of Durrin.
