What a long awaited sweet scene of the wedding. I do love Merry/Estella a lot and love your characterization of her. Nice song too--so original and creative! Samwise looked at his old friend and comrade in troubles, nodded, and said quietly, ' 'Tis a wise hobbit who knows where to find his treasure.' Then he straightened, putting on the guise of the Mayor once more, and raised his cup to the crowd before shouting, 'Let us drink to joy!' after all he's been through- so glad Merry has this moment to treasure. Author Reply: Thank you for your thoughtful reviews! I see I have some catching-up to do in terms of review replies. I'm glad you like the song. I wish I knew where I could upload and link them so people could listen to them. The site where they were originally hosted 20-some years ago is long gone. Jewels put Merry through an awful lot, I must admit, and so it's a relief to see him find his reward in the form of love and friendship. Thanks again for reading and taking the time to share your thoughts!

Lin! First of all. Yeah! A double wedding!! And Paladin is there!!! Yeah. If he wasn't I was going to climb into the story and slap him upside the head. Secondly! I have of late been reading about Tolkien and what his writing meant to him. Your poems remind me of what I have been reading. To Tolkien ...and C.S. Lewis poetry defines words more fully brings the words closer to the song that brought both Middle Earth and Narnia into being. "Making magic of the slow, haunting music." Manefesting joy out of the song. Echoing Tolkien's song. Absolutely lovely! Thank you for that!! (((hugs))) MM

I love Sam standing on the table and singing! He's the only one we haven't seen do it, right? (Frodo in the book, Merry and Pippin in the movie ...) And what a lovely gift. (And Rosie back there winking at Merry. :-D) So glad they had a lovely day for the wedding. So glad Merry has such an understanding bride, and that Pippin's father decided to stand with him for the day. What a joyous time. ❤ Author Reply: Every dog has his day, or so they say! (That's actually a compliment; several dogs are high on my list of favorite people.) I do love Sam, so steady and solid and wise. Rosie winking at Merry is something of an inside joke, the way he tormented her to try to get Sam to propose! Some of the rewrite of Jewels was to incorporate that sub-plot from A Small and Passing Thing, which got written some time after Jewels and so this story was missing that piece. I hope I'm making sense. I've rather overdosed on chocolate today. Definitely a joyous time! Thanks so much for reading and pausing long enough to share your thoughts!
