Simarillion Drabbles  by Elvenesse

The Hill of Tears

Mortal treachery lost us the battle. Yet through the friendship and sacrifice of Hurin, my people were saved.

I have given birth to my child. Tuor, the son my husband will never see. I have done all I can for him. I have given him life, and fostered him with the Grey-elves. His future lies before him - but mine is with my husband, my love, who is gone.

High against the horizon I see it, a great green mound surrounded by a sea of sand. If I knew no better, I would call it a beacon of hope in a forsaken land.

But it is not so. I stagger towards it: for here lies my husband’s end, and mine.
