My Collection of Drabbles   by Periantari

And she looked at him and saw the grave tenderness in his eyes, and yet knew, for she was bred among men of war, that here was one whom no Rider of the Mark would outmatch in battle.” - Steward and the King

I had not sought love or plan for it.  But his eyes were gentle, actions tender, and I could not help but feel unwavering pity and concern for him as we started to accompany each other. He wouldn’t assume anything I say, let me talk when I wanted, and we had this silent understanding.

I could not help but fall in love. So when he outfitted me with his mother’s cloak, I did not resist. Our hands touched naturally as we waited. I hadn’t felt comfort and warmth for a long time. Is this what love feels like? Too soon had loved ones been taken from me in life, too soon had I only had to serve and not be taken care of ….like this.

And when the sign came that we were victorious, I can finally give up to my heart and accept Faramir to be the one.
