A King should know better than to listen to gossip, but when it concerns his best friend, it is difficult to ignore it. Aragorn learns a hard lesson about trust and the nature of promises, while Legolas discovers one is never too old for lessons in patience. This story was written in response to a songfic challenge (MY IMMORTAL, by Evennescence) issued to the aragorn-legolas yahoo group affiliated with the Mellon Chronicles.
