Sam's Lament  by Shireling

SAM’S LAMENT

I never knew the Sun could weep,

Red rimmed tears into the waves.

The seas lament whispers to the sand.

Salt limed sails billow,

Catch the evening breeze, beat a farewell tattoo.

My tongue tastes salty, traitorous tears.

I do not weep for you.

My sorrow selfish, my grief profound.

I would not have you stay;

Steadfast friend, beloved companion,

Brother of my heart.

Reach out for comfort

Where wiser council knows your worth.

Seek for truth amid the peace

Of freely offered kinship.

Go with my heart safe in your keeping.

Embrace your reward, gifted

For endurance beyond hope.

Shine forth your light, its radiant beam

Rivals the moonlight silver hues.

Farewell my friend, I will be strong

Though parting tears away my anchor.

Follow your star to journeys end,

Let healing love refresh your ragged soul.

Accept the grace and be forever whole.
