A/N: Fluff....and more fluff....I wrote this during class one day when i was in dire need of some distraction. So, it's not exactly a masterpiece. Disclaimer: Not mine.
*** Pippin’s thoughts on Merry Pippin thought that Merry was just like the moon. Actually, though he had never admitted it to Merry, he had always had a sneaking suspicion that the hobbit on the moon was really Merry himself or some other Brandybuck cousin of his. And that there really was a mushroom on the moon with ‘Pip’ stamped on it for when he and Mer finally decide to visit it. Anyway, back to the moon and Merry. Ah, see! Their names even start with the same letter! But besides that, they have lots in common! They are both round and have a lot of little dots on their faces. Though every time that Pip mentioned this to Merry, he would just leave in huff. Older cousins are hard to understand and though Merry is slightly better than the rest of the older lads, he still has his days when he would act all grown-up and weird, getting offended over the slightest thing. The moon does make it easy to see the stars up there, where a hobbit-lad stargazing with his older cousin can just spot shapes of oliphaunts and round-round shapes that could be eggs sunny-side up. And Merry is just the perfect company for stargazing as he was very patient. Unlike Frodo, who get annoyed every time Pip spots some sort of food. And the moon does chase away the scary orcs that Pimmie once told him hid under his bed. The orcs creep out; all ready to much on a delicious Pip-hobbit, but run away when the moon shines through the window. A lot like Merry, who was the bravest hobbit Pip knew and he would never be afraid of some measly orcs. And … and … the moon is always around, isn’t it? Even during the day, it’s just hidden but it’s always there. Like his Merry. Always there; constant and reliable. But the moon’s not nearly as good as Merry and Pippin would rather have his cousin any day over some big round thing in the sky. After all, no one can tuck him in and tell him bedtime stories like Merry can.
A/N: For how can you have Pippin without Merry? Disclaimer: Not mine. *** Merry’s thoughts on Pippin Merry thought that Pippin was the very epitome of a sunny hobbit. In fact, sometimes he even thought that his Pip was brighter than the sun; always filling everyone around him with warmth and joy. He smelled of apples and of a warm sunny day, which was perfect for a run-about or a quiet afternoon reading on the grass with your favourite cousin. The Sun also tries to do her best by constantly showing her warn radiance, though sometimes she might just go overboard and everyone starts wishing for rain. But no one can blame her for only wanting to please them. Like Pip. When he had only wanted to find a nice sunflower for his Ma on his birthday but had ended up ruining Frodo’s garden and poor Sam had had to replant everything. Or when he had tried to bake Frodo a cake when he was sick but then left the kitchen in a mess for Merry to clean up. Or when … well, you get the point. But the thing is, without the Sun, our lives would be dark and cold and the pretty flowers would all wilt. And without Pip, Merry would have gotten into trouble lesser but it would have been a dull existence.
