Everlasting Darkness  by Elvenesse

Everlasting Darkness

I laugh: a bright bubble of sound as it
rises towards the stars. I stand outside
myself, watching, amused by the madness.

Amused? Why so? It is not a laughing
matter after all – madness never is
I deem.

For there is blood upon my hands;
bright blood, red blood! The world is covered
in blood. It falls in great sheets, staining my
vision. I bathe in it, laughing, laughing.

But nay! Stop! Cease this prattle and go back
inside. Digression is an art, and one
that should not be sullied – and least of all
by you.

But do I digress I wonder?
For is it not rather procrastination?
For in this Oath I meet my end, and you
with me brother.

Pure! Pure, untainted and
unsullied. I am not brother, and neither
are you I deem. An Oath fulfilled is worse
than death itself. Still, I hold you to it brother.
