Holding Anduril, Narsil reforged, in his hands fanned that flame into a fierce burning desire to defeat Sauron and take his place as king. His eyes were drawn to the sword of his ancestors and his heritage finally settled comfortably and firmly on his shoulders. Aragorn's birthright was finally being acknowledged and confronted inside him. He was indeed becoming the man he was born to be. Elrond was amazed at the change that occurred in his son in that instant when Aragorn moved his eyes from the Flame of the West to lock with those of the elf. Before him stood not Estel, foster-son of Lord Elrond; nor Strider, chieftain of the Dunedain; before him stood Elessar, the Elfstone, High King of Gondor. Even in his travel-stained, torn clothing and weary as he was, his royalty shown brightly. Even the blindest man would have known in that instant before whom he stood. Elrond was extremely proud of the man he'd been fortunate enough to raise from a toddler. Yes, Aragorn was becoming the man he was born to be right before his eyes. |
