Actually, it kind of is...

Celeste Lucretia Black · 12 May 2021 · Chapter 8: Sweet is the Sound of the Falling Rain

It has to be...if the One Ring falls into the wrong hands...

Author's reply

That would have been terrible, for sure.

PSW · 9 November 2015 · Chapter 8: Sweet is the Sound of the Falling Rain

I'm just loving your hobbit stories. :-) It's nice to get a look at Frodo without the responsibility of the Ring pressing on him -- what they must have all been like before. Fun story, thanks!

Author's reply

Thank you so much. It's such fun to find "the lighter side" of Middle-earth. I first read the books in the 1970s, and my love for hobbits has never faded.

julchen11 · 1 June 2007 · Chapter 3: Family Ties

Wow - Lobelia, so she could have been. I can even hear her taffeta dress rustling (I'm sure she's dressed in it for this special occasion) :-) I'm glad Sam will stay here. The last line made me laugh, Sam is soooo lovely, isn't he? Thank you again, Janet - you made my afternoon! I'll be back soon.

Author's reply

I loved writing that last line! Glad it made you laugh. :)

julchen11 · 1 June 2007 · Chapter 2: Bilbo's Heir

Mmmmmm… this is going to be my favourite story. Again you PAINTED with words, my dear. Breakfast at Bag End, our beloved hobbits around. I fell like sitting in a corner and simply watching them, listening to them, listening to you. I’m with Frodo “I have good friends, Bilbo,” Frodo whispered. “I don’t know what you could have in here that’s any better than that.” I Love my friend Shirebound a lot, Julchen

Author's reply

And I love my friends that much too, Julchen. How lucky we all are to have found one another. *hugs*

Julchen11 · 1 June 2007 · Chapter 1: Without a Word

This is soooo lovely, Janet. Poor Frodo, here alone at Bag End. But it’s a peaceful silence you’ve created. I can face him so clearly… “You can face anything in Middle-earth, Bilbo, dragons and trolls and goblins --- but not saying goodbye to me. Because you love me. Thank you for loving me so much, Bilbo. I love you, too. And I’ll be all right.” Heartwarming and lovingly written, Shire. I’m looking forward to the next part. Thank you, Julchen

Author's reply

Thank you, Julchen. I can't write hobbits with anything but love.

julchen11 · 13 May 2007 · Chapter 6: Borgin One-Hand

julchen11 · 13 May 2007 · Chapter 4: Over Hill and Under Hill

“Frodo can’t imagine anyone acting like that, Mer,” said Pippin. “He’s too nice.” “Not to mention rich,” Merry grinned. “And good looking,” added Pippin. “Dangerous combination, that.” ... The next time anyone calls you ‘cracked’, just say you’re proud of it!” declared Pippin. “That’ll make ‘em even more confused, and maybe they’ll stop saying it.” “Good idea, Pip,” mused Frodo. “I think I might just do that.” I LOVE THIS! I'm glad Frodo isn't alone, Merry and Pip are sooo hobbit and sooo lovely. I can't stop smiling, little one. Thank YOU!

Author's reply

Thank you, Julchen! I'm so happy you're enjoying this story. Cousin-y banter and teasing is just about my favorite thing to write.

julchen11 · 13 May 2007 · Chapter 3: Family Ties

You made me smile all the time while reading this. It's soooo wonderful and funny. “Come on, Mr. Frodo --- I’ll show you where the kitchen is.” “That’s not funny, Sam.” This made me laugh! Thank you, little wordpainter - thank you again! *smiles*

Author's reply

Those lines made *me* laugh, too! :)

julchen11 · 13 May 2007 · Chapter 2: Bilbo's Heir

Sorry, pushed the wrong button before ... This is sooooo lovely ... Bilbo always takes care of Frodo, even he isn't here any longer. Thank you, honey! I'm sure I'll love the next chapters very much.

julchen11 · 10 May 2007 · Chapter 1: Without a Word

This makes my heart ache... So many questions, Frodo 's feeling lonely. I'm too moved to write, Janet. What a story... I'm printing the next parts for tomorrow. Thank you, love. This makes me dream, Shire dreams ... Frodo dreams ... I'm so curious how this is going on but I have to WAIT *sigh* I'll come back, but you know this already :-) Love you, dear Julchen

Author's reply

Thank you, dear Julchen. I hope your heart is healed by all the hobbity teasing and love in this story. This story was my first attempt to write movie-verse LOTR after only writing book-canon at the beginning.

Frodo Baggins · 1 November 2005 · Chapter 8: Sweet is the Sound of the Falling Rain

My dear Shirebound, I LOVE the way you portrayed Frodo's relationship with his cousins. Sam's courage at the end was very funny!! "and Pippin falling off the table in amazement." That's good....drunk Pip fallin off a table! This whole story was wonderful!! Great ending!! Namarie, mellon nin! GOd Bless, Frodo Baggins

Author's reply

Frodo Baggins · 1 November 2005 · Chapter 3: Family Ties

Oh my goodness! Shirebound!! You have me rolling with laughter!! I love the thought that Frodo "can't" cook!! It sounds just like me!! I can make....uh, burnt ground beef adn a black quesadilla!! I am immensly enjoying this story! "Come on Mr. Frodo---I'll show you where the kitchen is." "That's not funny, Sam." That one really had me laughing!! Poor Frodo, getting teased by his cousins adn friends.....Namarie! God bless, Frodo Baggins

Thank you so much! That was actually one of my favorite scenes to write over the last four years. :D

I didn't think Sam had it in him, either! :-) Very Good! (applause!) Heading back to the library... PF

PIppinfan1988 · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 5: Speaking of Marriage

Oy...I'm too tired to read anymore! But this is really good! I do love your stories...and your hobbits! You are on my favorites and alers. Be back tomorrow...same Shire-time, same Shire-channel! :-P Pippinfan

Author's reply

Thanks, Pippinfan! Glad you're enjoying the story. :)

PIppinfan1988 · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 3: Family Ties

Oh my gosh...that was hilarious! Frodo wanting to wipe off his cheek and take a bath after Lobelia kissed him! :-D I like the part in the book where Merry answers the door, tries to tell Lobelia and Lotho that Frodo is indisposed...then leaves them in the hallway--for a long time! Good stuff, shirebound! Pippinfan

PIppinfan1988 · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 2: Bilbo's Heir

Oops! Hit this button by accident...but while I'm here!... Very nice and easy going...I always love your hobbits! I also like reading their banter between each other! On to the next chapter... Pippinfan

PIppinfan1988 · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 1: Without a Word

Hello Shirebound! I found my way over to Stories Of Arda, too, though you found your way a lot sooner than I. I believe I already read this chapter at ff.net, but I thought I'd review anyway! :-) Pippinfan

paranoidangel · 7 October 2003 · Chapter 8: Sweet is the Sound of the Falling Rain

I'm still laughing at Pippin and the cakes. I read the first chapter ages ago on ff.net, so I'm very glad to discover it finished. It was a very interesting account of what the hobbits did between Bilbo leaving and Frodo leaving in the movie-verse.

Author's reply

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! What a challenge this story was, trying to be true to *movie* verse instead of book canon.
