i am so glad you let frodo and aragorn share such touching moments in time, and even more i like the gift you have formulated to let gandalf give them both the most precious of gifts. their parents faces. thank you for choosing to write fanfic and thank god you choose tolkien. bless. n.

Author's reply

Thank you, Nancylea. I really appreciate your kind words. This story meant a lot to me, and I'm thrilled others enjoy reading it. I think Frodo, Aragorn, and Gandalf would have so much to teach -- and learn from -- one another.

WhitewolfofDarkness · 21 August 2007 · Chapter 1: A Wizard's Mistake

I got to say very good start.

Author's reply

Thank you very much. I hope you enjoy the story! :)

PipMer · 19 February 2007 · Chapter 20: Epilogue: The Gift of Belonging

This story was just wonderful, shirebound! I went to your website and printed out a bunch of your stories to read as time allows, and this was the first one I read. Your story is so full of heart-felt emotion, and I adore your stress on the importance of love. For a story that is AU, it certainly stays true to canon and to Tolkien! I love your portrayal of Frodo and Bilbo's relationship, and the fledging friendship between Frodo and Aragorn. Beautifully done!

Author's reply

Thank you so much, PipMer! "Quarantined" was and is very special to me. I was able to express a lot of things through this storyline that are straight from my heart and soul. I never dreamed, when I was writing it, that it would give birth to so many sequels, but I've enjoyed sharing every one of them. *hugs you*

julchen11 · 27 December 2006 · Chapter 20: Epilogue: The Gift of Belonging

*sigh* Last chapter. Very lovingly and heartwarming. You did an amazing job, my dear. As I told you, I NEVER read a story like this before and I love Frodo and Bilbo together so very much. *sighs again* In every person - hobbits, Rangers, Ishtari - I can FEEL and SEE how lovingly YOU are. Thank you again for this amazing journey. I once read a quote: a single rose can be my garden, a single friend can be my world. You – sweetheart – are an important piece of my puzzle called life, and you are a wonderful piece in my little world. You know – I’ll always be shire-bound. Lots of love and kisses Julchen

Author's reply

Dear one, I'm just thrilled you enjoyed this so much. This is the Bilbo, Frodo, and Aragorn I wish (and imagine) "could have/should have been". What a joy to share them with you. You are a very special friend, as well. *loves*

julchen11 · 27 December 2006 · Chapter 19: Samwise's Grandest Adventure

Aragron is a Baggins now, how lovely is this! I’m a bit sad – the story is coming to the end, BUT it will be re-read a million times. So now – jump to the epilogue, Julchen.

Author's reply

Yes, he's now an honorary Baggins! Lucky Ranger. :D

julchen11 · 27 December 2006 · Chapter 15: Buried Treasure

"It’s the sickle --- my favorite stars,” explained Frodo. “You like stars,” he continued, reaching up to touch the silver pin on Aragorn’s cloak, “so I thought you should have more of them.” My dear shirebound, you know this feeling? You could cry for ages for the beauty of words? I still do and I'm happy about it. This is what a story has to be like ... I'm deeply touched and too moved to write. Stars. I'm addicted to stars ... May the stars always shine brightly where you are. I really don't know what to say besides Thank God I met YOU! The past days you gave so much joy to me, you can't imagine. You're a wonderful friend, you're a piece of my life now and I'm very very glad. *hugs you again (can't resist, there can be not enough hobbity hugs)*

julchen11 · 27 December 2006 · Chapter 12: Plain Hobbit Sense

Good morning, my dear! My day couldn't have started better. I love to be in the Shire and now... Sam is here. What a lovely little guy he is, your description of Sam is priceless. One has to love him wether or no. As always he takes care of Frodo *smiles* And Bilbo ... lovingly Bilbo. I can't get enough of this story. One question: where can I buy this BOOK??? Have a nice day, sweetie! I'll stay here for a little while :-) 27.12.06, 12.41

Author's reply

I wish we *could* publish our LOTR fanfiction! I suppose we're lucky to be able to post it on the internet at all. Some authors (like Anne Rice) don't allow any fanfiction written based on their works. Thank you. Yay Sam! :D

julchen11 · 26 December 2006 · Chapter 11: Remember Me

Awwwww, you make me blush ... Sweet dreams are made of this ... hobbits AND wonderful friends. I'm blessed to know you, a friend is someone who reaches out for your hand...and touches your heart ... and that you did Lots of love and many many hobbity hugs Julchen

julchen11 · 26 December 2006 · Chapter 11: Remember Me

„Aragorn looked down at the young hobbit who had, in such a short time, entwined himself into his life, and his heart.” Frodo did the same to us, didn’t he? He’ll always be in our heart. I love him, and you – dearest – make me love him even more. I printed everything I read this night and will take it to bed for re-reading. Good night, little one – we're bound to the Shire … you’ll meet me in the stars.

Author's reply

I'm so happy you're enjoying the story, Julchen. As originally planned, "Quarantined" was only going to be 12 chapters. I'm still amazed that it became 20! I loved writing this. Author Reply: And I'm so happy to be "bound to the Shire"... along with some of the sweetest, loveliest people I've ever known. :D

julchen11 · 26 December 2006 · Chapter 10: Lost and Found

“This time, I suspect that trolls really are responsible for a fearful mess in the kitchen,” said Frodo with a grin.” You made me laugh, hun. And smile. And feel so very good. “Don’t eat … all the cookies …” Very very lovely *happy sigh*

Author's reply

Awww, thank you. Both Frodo and Aragorn deserve some peaceful, happy moments.

julchen11 · 26 December 2006 · Chapter 9: Safe

Awwww, this is gorgeous, my dear. One of the best stories I read EVER! "Frodo let out a shout, then flung his arms around Bilbo’s neck and started to sob with joy. He felt loving arms tighten around him. He cried and cried, and Bilbo just held him. After so long, he felt loved and wanted and safe. After so long." That's unbelievably beautiful and so lovely. I love the world, the special feelings you've created. I love it so much! Thank you my friend!

Author's reply

Oh Julchen, you've highlighted one of my favorite lines in the whole story. One of the themes of "Quarantined" is Frodo finally having a sense of 'belonging' and 'home', after years of uncertainty.

julchen11 · 26 December 2006 · Chapter 8: A Hidden Gift

Wow, sweetie! It’s incredible what you are doing. I want to tell you so much and I’m at a loss for words. Another magic night made by you. I’m glad I don’t need to WAIT for the next chapter … Love you a lot – hope your Christmas was wonderful. Julchen

Author's reply

Wow, thank you so much. And I had a *very* peaceful and restful Christmas, which was exactly what I longed for. *hugs*

julchen11 · 22 December 2006 · Chapter 7: Fighting Shadows

This chapter left mit exhausted. It's incredible what you are doing, sweetie. Poor little hobbit, he's ill, weak and yet so very strong. And we know he HAD to become the ringbearer. If I wouldn't be in love for him I would have felt in love for him tonight. Thank you so much, shirebound.

Author's reply

Poor little hobbit, he's ill, weak and yet so very strong That's the most endearing thing about Frodo... small and vulnerable, and yet as strong as steel. Thank *you* so much.

julchen11 · 22 December 2006 · Chapter 6: In the Mind's Eye

Your writing style is simply brilliant, dearest! I can't stop reading, I MUST go on ... *snuggles closer*

Author's reply

*cuddles you*

julchen11 · 22 December 2006 · Chapter 5: A Precious Life

This chapter is so sweet and heartbreaking. And so true. “Mortal life, he mused. It was so fragile; the smallest thing, the least mistake, and a precious life gone” You are again PAINTING with words, it feels like sitting in a corner and watching them, I can even HEAR them. And I can feel your heartblood running through those lines, little one. I’m glad I’ve found you, better late than never. You can be sure, I’ll read ALL of your works. *happy sigh*

Author's reply

Thank you. And I worried so much about this chapter, because it seemed too... simple. But it ended up saying just what it meant to.

julchen11 · 22 December 2006 · Chapter 4: What We Most Fear

My heart is aching, poor little Frodo. wonderful caretaking Bilbo. This story touches my heart very deeply, my dear. This one has become my favourite at once. Frodo will always be safe in our hearts ... *jumps to chapter5*

Author's reply

You're so sweet. Thank you.

julchen11 · 22 December 2006 · Chapter 3: Entwined

Oh my god, this is heartbreaking. I'm all in tears and I will read the first 3 chapters again right now. But I won't leave the Shire, and I won't leave my friend shirebound. Shirebound ... it's a wonderful name for a lady with a big heart like you. *sigh* *huggles*

Author's reply

Thank you, sweet Julchen! And remember that in my stories, any angst or heartbreaking stuff usually results in a happy, fluffy, lighthearted ending. *grins*

julchen11 · 22 December 2006 · Chapter 2: Friends, New and Old

I love Bilbo, he’s so lovingly. The way he talks about Frodo makes me smile. He loves his little lad and Frodo … oh Frodo … he’s simply adorable. “But now I believe we were destined to find each other. It's been less than two years, and already I cannot imagine life without him." *sigh* I’m melting like butter in the sun, lovey. Thank you, thank you a lot.

Author's reply

This is truly the Bilbo and Frodo I imagine... each grateful to have found the other. :D

julchen11 · 22 December 2006 · Chapter 1: A Wizard's Mistake

Jesus – what a start! You got me from the first word to the very last. “At the door of his bedroom, Frodo looked up at the wizard in awe. "You're so very, very tall, Gandalf. It's a wonder you don't fall over when you walk!" This made me laugh. What a wonderful first chapter, my dear! I can’t resist … I have to run to chapter 2 *drools and smiles* Lots of love Julchen

Author's reply

Oh my, thank you so much. This story is very special to me, and I poured a lot of my heart and soul into it.

Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 20: Epilogue: The Gift of Belonging

Twin presents for Hobbit and Man, the brothers of the spirit that the two of them are; and Frodo's already strongly expressed gift of far-seeing. Bless them all, the three Hobbits, the Man, and the Wizard.

Author's reply

And bless you for reading, Larner. What a joy to share our love for Middle-earth with others.
