Just spending the evening looking for a nice tale - and then got shivers as I read this... I'm not exactly sure why - except for the fact that I feared for Faramir or Boromir - not sure which. Odd response to a tale of two young boys on the riverbank... but so much more untold... *shivers*

Ok - I've got to stop reading your stuff. It's getting late and I have to eat - but again - my breath was taken by this story. You write incredibly well.
I'm putting you on my fav authors list. Blessings.

I liked the way Faramir's description of Idril evokes Eowyn, who will be his wife. And what a wonderful description of Faramir, a dreamer who is never deceived by his dreams. The image of the boats works very well, I think.

This story goes perfectly with Starlight's picture, even down to the horse that nudged Boromir in the back. (Is Boromir's being uncomfortable around water anything to do with him not being able to swim, until Faramir teaches him in Breathe?)
They seem perfectly in character and I love the way you can see them both as children and also the glimpses of them as adults. What a good description of Faramir: Boromir had a fleeting glimpse of the man he would be, still a dreamer but never deceived by his dreams.
The foreshadowing was lovely, “That’s the point of the story,” Faramir replied, still watching the water. They’re boats – they have to sail away. You can’t ever know where they have gone, can you?” That was almost enough to bring me to tears, especially remembering the clip from the TT ED preview and the second chapter of Breathe.
