MM!
The story starts out so... mundane. It's hard to imagine Elrond spreading jam on toast, but on second thought, even Elf-lords have to eat sometimes!
Of course Estel is going to notice when someone mentions sweetmeats. Not much gets by him, I should imagine. An idle Estel was a mischievous Estel. Perfectly believable.
(...you're making me hungry, and that when I've just eaten dinner!)
Disappointment is worse than anger. I agree.
I love how you picture the two of them reveling in nature. What a lovely idea, that the Elves' (and Estel's) connection with nature is regularly revitalized. (Or do I mean refreshed?) Though I may be presuming, I think the Professor himself would appreciate this description. I remember from his writings and various analyses I've read that he found the effects of industrialization on nature quite distressing.
Thank you for a lovely bedtime tale.

Oh hurrah!
I just signed in at the end of the day and saw this new post! Unfortunately, it is the end of the day... My eyes are protesting, so I will put this on my list of to-dos for tomorrow. It will make a wonderful accompaniment to my morning coffee or tea.

What a delightful tale! I enjoyed reading about these lessons as much as Estel enjoyed learning them from those who love him so greatly.

So glad you have enjoyed it! I just love writing stories about young Estel! I think he must have been a precocious child doted on by everyone in Imladris. But not spoiled somehow.
Thanks!
