Oh, what a great story! Loved the twist; you totally fooled me! :-))) On the serious note - I find it so lovely that you give voice to the animals involved in the war. I hope the poor Oliphaunt finds lovely pasture!

Very well written! I loved the POV change when we realize these are not soldiers going home and then again realizing they are mumlaks. Wow...just wow. What a great punch for a short story. Congratulations!

This is a beautifully written story. I must admit I was stumped by the twist. At first I thought it was an old man, then a horse, then at the mention of tusk I realised that it was a mumak, lol Unexpected yet impactful.

Fascinating premise, and completely believable. I'm glad to see you're still posting and writing. (I keep hoping for writing time, but then I keep getting derailed by work. Still, it's nice to see SoA is still here, and new chapters/stories are being posted. I will keep hoping.)

Yep, still writing 😊 I've been working on a new novel (won't be ready for posting before 2025), and I write an occasional short story. My advice is to set small goals, low word-count per day, so that it is achievable despite work 😉 Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! 😊

I love your delightful twists. First I think he's human, then for a moment I thought he was a horse, and finally I find out he's an "oliphaunt." A lovely reminder that Men and Elves and orcs weren't the only ones who fought in the War.
