I truly enjoyed this set of stories. It's a compelling gap filler that shows Aragorn's development as a leader, and the rich characters of his family around him. Thank you.

Ah, it has been far too long since I've read a good Halbarad, Aragorn and Gandalf fic... such banter! Such... rude awakening. XD Shame on you, Gandalf. That's a king you just kicked in the stomach. Looking forward to the rest!

Author's reply

Gandalf is such a nightmare, and yet (or maybe because of that), I love him deeply! xD. Thank you for reading!

Ellynn · 18 December 2019 · Chapter 9999: Epilogue

Great end for the great story. I love it that you added the choice of the name - really nice detail. :) I don't know your plans for writing, but it would be interesting to see Adanel's visit to Rivendell... *grins*

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed this story (and the name! That was a fun detail to include). And funny you should mention...I don’t know when next I’m going to have time to devote to a full story, but next up on my list is DEFINITELY Adanel in Rivendell! :D

A wonderful story, and a joyous, hopeful ending. I admire your writing very much, with the incredible insight and details that you bring out. Very well done.

No! I can't believe it's finished! This was a great series, my dear Suzelle. Thank you and hope to see more of your Elves in the future!

“It is a lonely man who wanders unknown paths and calls the stars his home. Even those will be strangers to you before the end,” Gandalf said. “I would have you walk beside a friend, for a time. One who understands where you come from, and what you have still to do. ” He held his hand out, and Aragorn clasped it. What an incredible friendship, capping off a wonderful chapter.

Thank you so much!!

Hi Suzelle, Loving your updates. Thanks for replying to my comment. I have read your previous stories concerning the Elves of Imladris and that was why I was asking if you could include Revanne and Braenor for example in your future stories. Thanks.

Author's reply

Thanks so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it.

shirebound · 14 December 2019 · Chapter 8: Chapter Eight

This is a marvelous and insightful conversation between Halbarad and Nethril. They sense that the Dunedain are "fighting the long defeat", as Galadriel would say, and that something un-looked for is coming whether they're ready for it or not. Aragorn must be feeling the same, hoping that he's up to an impossible task on which so much depends. the thin strand of mithril impossibly smooth within the silver It's details like that that help give your story such weight.

A difficult situation, and each person has good points - ones that can't easily be argued. Looking forward for more. :)

I am enjoying this story so much. I love anything about the young Aragorn and this is one of the best I have read. Enjoying the additions of Gandalf and Elrond. Those Dunedein women are feisty too. Looking forward to the next chapter!

Author's reply

Oh gosh, thank you so much!! I am so glad that you're enjoying it!

shirebound · 12 December 2019 · Chapter 7: Chapter Seven

And now here you stand, a lord among your people, beloved by them. You are a credit to your father’s memory, and to me. It's so important for Aragorn to hear that (and important for all of us to hear it from those we value). What a marvelous chapter. Both the depth and emotion of your story are wonderful.

Author's reply

<3 <3 <3 thank you so much!! All of your reviews on this have meant so much to me.

shirebound · 10 December 2019 · Chapter 6: Chapter Six

Some invisible, heavy power filled the room That's wonderful imagery, and I like your depiction of Elrond. Oh dear, Nethril's panic at the thought of losing Aragorn so soon is completely understandable.

Author's reply

Thank you so much! It’s been a long time since I’ve written Elrond, and I really enjoyed getting to do so here.

Aranadhel · 10 December 2019 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five

Hi Suzelle, Loveeeeeeeee your stories regarding the Dunedain and the Noldor of Imladris. Was a bit disappointed you had only Elrond alone to the Angle. Would love to see your other Elves make new appearances please, showing up at the Angle such as Ravenne and Branor? Le hannon.

Author's reply

Hi, thank you so much for your kind words! Unfortunately, it’ll just be elrond making his appearance here—for a multitude of reasons, he couldn’t have a whole entourage coming with him in his race to the Angle. If you want to read more of my elves in the Angle, though, Glorfindel and Merideth show up in my fic from a couple years ago, “A Bird Flies Out.” Thanks again for commenting!!

Silmarien · 10 December 2019 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five

I love your writing and characterization. There is a core group of authors I follow on SofA, and you are among them. One suggestion: I think you meant Gandalf was supine (on his back), not prone (on his front).

Author's reply

Thank you so much—that means a lot for me to hear! (And thanks for the suggestion—funny what things we miss, even after the beta read is done!)

Matt · 10 December 2019 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five

I've just caught this and its predecessor up. Great job. Really curious to see where this goes. Thanks loads for your hard work on it.

Author's reply

Thank you so much!! So glad to hear you’ve been enjoying it.

shirebound · 9 December 2019 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five

Oh wow, thank goodness! And how unexpected! Gandalf apparently needs all the help he can get, and with Elrond and Aragorn working together... *fingers crossed* What astonishing detail you bring us. :)

Author's reply

Aah, thank you so much!! I'm so glad you're continuing to enjoy this. Gandalf's definitely got himself into a Predicament, the likes of which he definitely is not used to!

Ellynn · 9 December 2019 · Chapter 5: Chapter Five

It's getting better and better! And Nethril's swearing gave me such a good laugh and made my day... :D

Author's reply

Bwaaaahha, I'm so glad you appreciated that!! Thank you so much for commenting! <3

Ellynn · 9 December 2019 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four

These women don't carry swords and don't go on patrols, but they ALL are badass!!!Yay for them! :)))

Author's reply

Yaaay, thank you!! I'm so glad you like them!!

shirebound · 7 December 2019 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four

It's so important for women to support one another, like these three are doing.

Author's reply

It really is!! It was very important for me to showcase that here, so I'm glad you appreciate it as well <3

Ellynn · 6 December 2019 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

So, after two really calm chapters, we get great action. And not just action, but also drama, suspense, horror... Well done! P.s. I really like the reference to commanding the dead... :)

Author's reply

Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed! And omg, I'm so glad folks caught that reference :D

shirebound · 6 December 2019 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Oh my goodness, how unexpected! I can't remember reading any fic where Gandalf was injured. This is a very exciting story. You will command the dead but once, and it is not us. So the wights have knowledge of both past and future, but must live forever bound to a grim present. It's rather sad.

Author's reply

Thank you so much! There's a lot of this fic that I had fun playing around with, exploring things I either hadn't seen before or wanted to leave my own twist on. The wights have always fascinated me..their (after)lives really are quite sad, especially as they don't have the same chance those other dead do to really redeem themselves. I'm so glad you're enjoying this story!

shirebound · 3 December 2019 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Compromise had been the hardest thing for her to learn, these past weeks, conceding ground while keeping her authority intact. That's a challenge for anyone to learn. It's good that Nethril has wise and understanding friends and counsel... as Aragorn did.

Author's reply

Nethril is very lucky! She and Aragorn aid each other well, when he's home. Thank you for commenting! <3

shirebound · 1 December 2019 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Goading his kinsman was almost too easy, and it never failed to bring him morning cheer. That's a great line. :) A new adventure! I'm looking forward to taking it with you.

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy <3
