This is delightful and heartwarming.
“They’ve been in Mordor all this time, and missed all the feasts?” Pippin asked in dismay. *giggles* Pippin is such a delight in this.
Author's reply
*beams* I do love Pippin. He can be so grown up, but is still a tween at heart.

Nice story! I love it. Hey, would you write a sequel in which Caladir and Delumir share with Frodo and Sam the progress that's being made in the cleaning out of Mordor? And maybe the feast that follows, while you're at It!
Author's reply
Thank you. Stay tuned for additional chapters! :)

Although I did not want to get up this morning, finding this (and reading it through several times) felt like a prize and a reward, and left me grinning from ear to ear. Thank you!
Best wishes for your move. (I hate moving, so I heap the wishes high...) Across the country! Perhaps it will be fodder for tales of Frodo's move to Crickhollow. Or Merry and Pippin's move to Gondor. :) LOL!
Hope you can "hurry back" soon. I've missed the hobbits so...
Some parts I love--hobbit resilience and exhuberance. King duties and Ranger duties. Glimpses of Strider's character.
The two brothers remind me just a bit of Beregond in his first meeting with Pippin. JRRT certainly sketched the Men of Gondor in a winsome way, even with the few details he offered about the common Men.
Author's reply
Thank you for your sweet comments. I can't express my joy at still being able to share hobbit tales with my friends after all these years. And when hobbits and Aragorn can interact -- such a delight! :)
This move is a difficult one, but eventually the dust will settle and it will be finished. Perhaps it *will* inspire story ideas!

I love this! What fun for them to discover that Pippin was alive still, and not only that, but up and around. And of course, Pippin was very Pippish!
(((hugs)))) Hope things are going well for you with the moving preparations!
Author's reply
Thank you. I fear this story will be terribly lacking in angst, and very Pippish indeed. :)
This move is turning out to be one of the most stressful experiences of my life, but I know the decision is a good one and will eventually work out. (((YOU)))

Thank you. Pippin -- a delightful blend of tween and almost-adult -- is such fun to write.

Another excellent chapter. You write Pippin well. :-D Can't wait until you have time to post the next chapter.
Author's reply
Thank you so much. Chapter 3 is percolating in my head, but may take awhile to find its way onto the keyboard.

Well written mellon nin!
More please... I assume the brothers are the Northern Dunedain?
Author's reply
Thank you!
I had imagined the brothers as soldiers of Gondor. The Professor tells us that many thousands followed Aragorn to the Black Gate, "troop by troop, and company by company".

Aww, more Cormallen fic! There can never be enough. I love that you found another bit from that chapter to inspire you. <3
Author's reply
Thank you. I hope we never run out of 'inspirational bits', especially when it comes to healing hobbits and sweet Fellowship friendship.

Hooray, so glad you're enjoying this already! :)

but they would not wish to be spied upon from a distance
Yes, I can very well imagine that!
And now to the first meeting. I am quite sure that the two captains will be very nervous...
Thank you for a new Shirebound Story :-)
Author's reply
I can just imagine Sam bristling with outrage if he thought Mr. Frodo was being spied upon!

Oh, but I'd all but forgotten these men! I rejoice that you bring them to our general awareness now. And I love how they are cautioned not to kneel, but are allowed to bow. Heh! Yes, I can see this caution being given.
Author's reply
The Professor gives us so many of these tiny moments and events that we can expand and enjoy. Bless him!

I love this. It show us beautifully what a wise and wonderful king Aragorn is going to be.
Author's reply
Aragorn truly was a superior man who was nevertheless humble and grateful for what had been achieved. I love writing about him, especially when he's interacting with the hobbits. Thank you so much for reading! :)

Oh! Such rich ground for gap-fillers and imagination!
I love the humility expressed by these two, their dedication to duty, their motivation grounded in the homes and families they left behind them when they came out to do hopeless battle, and went on to do what they could to cleanse the land before returning.
It seems as if they, too, might be done great honor, though they would protest and never understand how doing what they perceived as the right thing to do might win them such honor.
Author's reply
Thank you. And hooray for the opportunity for gap-fillers! The Fellowship spent many weeks in Cormallen, and the Professor only hinted at what happened there. What a joy to be able to 'fill in the corners' here and there.
"They went on to do what they could"... my definition of a hero, and no mistake.

I love this - “If in generations to come it is remembered that even small, frightened, and vulnerable beings could survive such a journey and the hardships they endured, perhaps it will be understood that any road can be walked and any goal is worthy of attempt, if one pledges to be steadfast." Such inspiration these give! Looking forward to more.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I'm so happy you like that observation. Hobbits are infinitely inspiring to me.
