Songs of Power, hmm? Well, that will be a useful skill for the ap Hywels to learn. I think they're doing pretty well at it myself. Atto, you must have had such fun writing them making their breaking and entering plans :D Ah, poor Derek, Alex and Felicity, feeling like the Elves thought they were babies and then being told otherwise - yes, I'm sure Felicity would definitely appreciate a proper bed and her husband's company. *grin* and if Alex rates a bed, his gwador should get one too. :) Glorfindel, Glorfindel...oh Glorfi *exasperated sigh* The time slippage he's experiencing may have happened before, yes, but never on such a scale or with such frequency as this. It's really worrying. He hasn't told anyone yet, either, has he? Stubborn, stiff-necked ellon! He should at least tell someone what's going on. Is it because he's the 'fearless leader' and doesn't want to be seen as weak? I imagine if something's not done about it soon, it won't bode well for the little excursion to the cliff. Tye-melin Atya, Beta amiga nettenyar, Kaylee *holed up at the Cliff House, looking at said cliff and wondering when the Elves are going to retrieve the artifact from it*

Author's reply

Arthur went to the actual place where this cliff resides on his vacation (might have been his last vacation, I can't remember, but he often went to the Adirondacks to vacation). Anyway, he scouted this out in person to an extent as well. I don't think he actually tried to break in to the place though. He was a rather law-abiding man. Of course Glorfindel tells no one anything. Never been a habit before, so why start now? LOL! Songs of Power are amazingly useful. I think the brothers will be glad to have that skill. Thank you for reading and reviewing! Ellie

Quite a powerful group of friends all the way. Hope we get to learn something of what happened in Wiseman. So happy to read this story.

Author's reply

This is Ellie. It is nice to have such powerful folks on one's side. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

elrondion · 14 February 2016 · Chapter 2: Reconnaissance

note to MikoNoNyte and all tracking glorfindel's time discontinuity problems. while not mentioned often, they are noted as early as elf interrupted book one. will be interesting to see how they play out here and if the problem has gotten worse since his mugging.

elrondion · 12 February 2016 · Chapter 2: Reconnaissance

too bad i cannot type at this hour. something in a larger type would be wonderful for us nonelves! will post under elrondion in the future.

eleondion · 12 February 2016 · Chapter 2: Reconnaissance

my first review. how to begin? took a long time to come to elf academy. onci i realized it was the logical progression, i was hooked. fiomdil has created something here in ea 4 that has an amazing rhythm. om the one hand it is very quick but on the other hand, it is nicely but tantalizingly slow. bringing a picnic basket of salads and finger food to the cliff house to introduce myself.

Dreamflower · 11 February 2016 · Chapter 2: Reconnaissance

And a lesson in how people change their environment over the centuries, and make trouble for Elves. ;-) I look forward to their adventure in retrieving the artifact, and I find myself very curious about it!

Dreamflower · 11 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

Well, we are beginning to get to the meat of the story. I'm still very sad about the destruction of Edhellond and the exodus from Wiseman; there was so much I'd like to know that remains there. And yet, I think it's going to be refreshing to leave it behind as the Elves have their non-Alaska adventures. I do hope we will get at least a few glimpses of Wiseman at some point, since it was so important to set the SCA up there, as well as some other things. But it will be fascinating to see the Elves working outside of what had become a very cozy (perhaps too cozy) environment for them. Thank you, one and all, for bringing this to us.

Obviously Irmo and Orome are working together on this. Now, to figure out how to get into the park when it is still closed. The tarped sections of the fence may be helpful.

MikoNoNyte · 8 February 2016 · Chapter 2: Reconnaissance

This chapter was full of descriptions. I felt like I was reading a travel log, and I've read my share dating back into the 1700's. Not my favorite thing to read by now. But onward with the plot and our intrepid heroes trecking into the wilds and listening to Gareth's tale of the White Hart. Um... Does anyone else feel like we're stepping in to Caerleon-on-Usk and the beginning of an Arthurian episode? Or perhaps The Mabinogi? I'm just hoping when this is all done that our Gwyn is not taking the road of Gwyn ap Nudd and housing all the devils of Annwfn in his breast! The weaving of Fiondil's tapestry here is beautiful; he touches on so many things I dearly wish I could sit down to tea with him and discuss Olde Tales. :) *Refills the goodie bin with freshly bakes whole grain 'nana bread and tins of tea leaves* Ja ne!

MikoNoNyte · 8 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

Now we're getting somewhere it seems (Upstate New York?). Watching Alex behave like a normal human male/father-to-be while at the same time still reverting to type - as in ex-spy *ahem* excuse me, Intelligence Agent - is both heartwarming and hilarious! Followed quickly by Felicity's "I'm pregnant, Loren, not dead," had me trying not to choke on my tea. LOL Glorfindel's "time sense"... okay, who is tagging in to Glorfi's brain and what do they want? or is that how "someone" knows where people are going? *raises eyebrows. hmmmmmm* Not much I can say or even think re: the artifact. What is it? Where is it? And why the heck did you bury it? *grins* So many questions, and no clues or answers. Oh how this makes me miss Fiondil hanar. He was oh so good at little twists and turns.

Author's reply

Hi! Nothing is as it seems, and especially in this last story of Arthur's. It's a bit of a rollercoaster with plenty of surprises in store, not the least of which will be the wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff that's going on with Glorfindel. And no, he's not the next Time Lord! Shemyaza xxx

Thank you very, very much for all your hard work on this. I was, I'll admit it now, devastated to read that Fiondil had died. My reason is quite simple. On the 1st July 2014, I discovered a large lump in my left breast. Yes, it was an aggressive breast cancer. For the next nine months my life was a maelstrom of scans, chemotherapy, operations, and radiotherapy. One of the things that saved my sanity was reading Elf Academy. I would read another chapter and actually come away laughing, and this was at a very dark time in my life, so thanks, partly to Arthur, I'm still alive and kicking. I've lost some things, such as my ability to write, but I can live with that. It might be like my hair, gone for a time but will return. It's just taking more time than I would like. BTW: Please do not sympathise with me over the cancer. A very large group of friends on another board spent several months cursing the cancer and ordering it to leave my body. Please do the same for someone you know, who has cancer. Believe me, it works. And recommend that they read 'Elf Academy'.

Hm, shades of Moon Runes and Durin's Day here. And Glorfindel's times sense is still way off, I am starting to get a little concerned. Grabs some snacks and goes back to knitting. Lynda

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 8 February 2016 · Chapter 2: Reconnaissance

Well, that's an eye-opener and no mistake. So Orome led the ap Hywel brothers to High Falls Gorge, did he? To hide a Templar talisman...ah, and so their time as Templars mentioned in the Prologue begins to make its relevance known. I do wonder what, precisely, that talisman was...Hmm. These pictures Atya painted for us were so vivid in my mind. Or as vivid as such things can be. Every time Lake Placid is mentioned, though, I can't help but shiver and think that things will go spectacularly wrong there. If there's a Balrog sleeping in Wild Lake, who's to say there's not another in Lake Placid...*shudder* Or that the two aren't connected somehow. Thank you, our dear Beta Amigas, for posting this story, and giving us this new chapter. All the mention of trout fishing made a certain seagull hungry. :D *Donut peeks over Kaylee's shoulder, then goes after a trout, meaning to catch it and bring it to MikoNoNyte* Mine! *giggles* Well then. Anyway. I'm wondering whether next week will bring an interlude sometime in August, or whether we'll be heading right for full moon and talisman retrieval. With love to Atto and to you, Beta Amiga nettenyar, Kaylee

Glorfindel losing time has become even more obvious, magically appearing/disappearing impossible bridges, I'm starting to think I've wandered into another fandom with all the wibbley-wobbly, timely-wimey going on here. Yes, yes, I know. Spoilers! Sounds like our Alien Overlords are once again making reality their plaything (because what are time and space to the Timeless?). Things are getting very interesting indeed. Please forgive the distinctly Whovian phrasing, I could not resist!

Erulisse · 8 February 2016 · Chapter 2: Reconnaissance

The landscape he describes is so vivid, it's apparent he had seen and studied this and that it made an impact; enough that he wanted to build it into one of his stories. I love the white hart and the hidden door - a long-established practice used by those with the knowledge. Then he took pity on his characters and readers both by throwing in the mundane, like lunch at A&W, to pull us all out of the supernatural and back into the norm. How very like him. Once again, thank you so much for posting these. It helps me to hear his voice in my head once again.

UTfrog · 8 February 2016 · Chapter 2: Reconnaissance

The brothers told quite a story. Appears the Valar continue to be very long range planners. I would love the visit the Lake Placid area. It sounds beautiful.

Soledad · 7 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

I'm late at catching up - blame RL stress for it. *sigh* First and foremost, heartfelt thanks to the Beta Amigas for their hard work. It is good to see a continuation of the EA tales. That said, it's hard for me to deal with the three-year-gap (and all the little details we've missed due to it); or the loss of Wiseman and its peoples, whom I've loved since EA1, which is still my favourite. I only hope that there will be flashbacks later. *crosses fingers* Again, thanks to everyone who made it possible for us to read the Unfinished Tales. You rock, ladies. Now there's a reason to looking forward to Monday again.

Author's reply

Quite a few of you have mentioned the three year gap/loss of Wiseman, Soldedad! I think Arthur was in a mischievous mood when he upped the ante for his stories! It would be just like him to keep his readers guessing. Obviously I can't give the game away, but things will become clearer as the story advances. As for making it available, you are all very welcome. It took the three of us nearly a year to deal with the fact that Arthur was no longer with us, plus real life affairs kind of got in the way, but better late than never! Shemyaza xxxx

Vanime · 7 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

I am really enjoying this so far! I miss Fiondil very much, and it is a joy to read his writings again.... I am wondering though, do Elrond and Celebrian look upon Alex as another son, being that Elrond is in grandfather mode? If so, I would love to read how that came about. :D Looking forward to more of The Unfinished Tales... did Fiondil name it this way? I would imagine that the ones that Tolkien wrote will have some bearing on this story? Vanime

Author's reply

Just FYI Vanime, Ellie, Mari and I decided on calling these Fiondil's Unfinished Tales. We decided that if the Professor could have some, so could Arthur! It felt like a fitting memoriam for him. Shemyaza xxxx

obsidianj · 4 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

So, they made their way all across the states to meet again, stalked by someone. At this point I believe more in Maias helping them along and preparing things than the enemy. Now on to retrieve the artifact in front of everyone without anyone being the wiser. Interesting challenge.

Author's reply

Hi! Nothing is ever as it seems! Arthur has put many twists and turns in this story. Shemyaza xxx

6336 · 3 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

Well this has started with a bang and no mistake. Just what is this artifact that Gwyn and Gareth have hidden away, will they be able to retrieve it with out Mortals finding out? (Hint guys if you wear a hard hat and carry a clip board most people will ignore you.) Yes, Kaylee I am to blame for the Orclings, Arthur used to say that made me the Grand Orcling! My Orclings are no longer cute three year olds, but are growing up, much to their Naneth's chagrin. Hm, I wonder if Glorfindel's loss of time sense is permanent or is temporary? Heads up to Cliff House, bringing a load of supplies, loo paper amongst them, plus Chilli fixins, a case of Angry Orchard and other assorted goodies. Settles into seat, buckles up, picks up knitting and settles in for a wild ride! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

They are ALWAYS orclings Lynda, even when they get to the ages of my sons (40 and 45)!! Again, I can't really give the game away about Glorfindel's loss of time sense, suffice to say that there is a lot going on in the story. Arthur was probably chortling all the way through writing it. Celeth · 2 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

I am just thankful to be reading more of the EA saga, even if Fiondil is not with us anymore. To all those who worked to bring EA4 to fruition, thank you, thank you, thank you! I may not always leave a comment, but I will be reading and re-reading the story as each chapter unfolds. Thank you again and more power!

Author's reply

You're very welcome Celeth. Enjoy! Shemyaza xxx

FV_Whisper · 2 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

I wondered seeing Amroth's reaction to the location in the last chapter if it had something to do with where he used to live and this seems indeed to be that way. Who else thinks this place looks a suspiciously lot like Wiseman? There's even a Santa's workshop... I still haven't gotten over the goodbye to Wiseman and the three years gap. There was quite some loose ends to EA3 which I was more or less expecting to be answered in EA4. Do you think we'll ever see anything back of Wiseman? I think the fact Legolas and some of the other woodelves staying there could be a hopeful sign. Who else feels sorry for Felicity. Being near term pregnant and on the run is one, but having to deal with an overprotective Alex and two elven healers, with one in grandpa mode already...the girl could really do with a break. Now what on early have Gwyn and Gareth found over there years that could be of use against the enemy? Based on the first part of the prologue, it would make sense if it had anything to do with the Templars. They were after all known for their wealth and legendary treasure, it would not be a too far stretch of the having an artifact of power, possibly an ancient Elven artifact...Who knows?

Author's reply

Ha Ha! Now that would be telling wouldn't it? And yes their location does give off a very 'Wiseman vibe'. Certainly the leaving of Wiseman bears some explanation and one will be clear to you as the chapters move on. I am definitely not going to say that Wiseman won't feature again, although our brave Elves and Humans are going to be travelling a little bit; they certainly wouldn't leave Legolas and the other woodelves behind. Can you imagine Legolas putting up with being left behind? Poor Felicity, I think all she wants is some peace, but I suspect that might be difficult to achieve, what with an over anxious expectant father and grandfather around. Time for some of Celebrian's good sense methinks! As for what Gwyn and Gareth found, I will have to leave you guessing as all will become clear as the story continues. The parts about their sojourn with the Knights Templar is a very interesting one and who knows what the Templars picked up over the decades of travelling? Shemyaza xx

Erulisse · 2 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

So, now I've read this several times and think I've picked up on all the subplots - maybe. I love that Fiondel brought the action closer to his home area, and an area of such beauty. Everything is falling into place, which means that when the s__t hits the fan, it's going to be huge! Can't wait for the next chapter. (Amazing - I actually made it through one chapter without a tear shed missing my dear friend! Yeah me!)

Author's reply

Hi Erulisse, this is Shemyaza replying on behalf of Arthur. I feel tearful every time I post a chapter! Yes, the action is moving into an area that Arthur loved very much. I remember him describing it to me one day and of course with Arthur's descriptions you actually felt like you had been there. As for the sh*t hitting the fan, I think I can quite safely say that there are a few surprises in store! More on that I cannot say.

Larner · 1 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

Fascinating, although I don't understand why we've had age-related warnings on these chapters as I've not seen a single objectionable detail as yet. There have been no overt attacks, but definite stalking, eh? I'd like to see more indications of just how they were stalked, of course. Oh, if Fiondil were here I'd be peppering him with emails! Heh!

Author's reply

Hi Larner, this is Shemyaza logging in as Fiondil, as I have access to post the stories. I am having a little trouble with the age restriction. Despite it being set at PG - 13 it insists on putting in the restriction page. Not sure whether this is me being dumb, or the system realising I am not Fiondil and silently accusing me of being a usurper! I'm not sure whether Arthur would have given anything away, but there are explanations of what is exactly going on which will reveal themselves over time. I am absolutely sure that Arthur is jumping up and down wherever he is in the Timeless Halls and telling me that if I give the game away to his readers he will come back and haunt me! Just kidding, Arthur was a delightful man and I would be happy to see him even in spirit form! I do miss him dreadfully.

tharseo · 1 February 2016 · Chapter 1: Into The Mountains

My thanks to the Boccacio family for their permission to publish this story and to Elli, Mari and Shemyaza for the work involved posting the chapters. Glad Glorfindel & company made it safely to their destination. I agree with Glorfindel the GPS voice can be annoying. Everyone seems to be accounted for expect for Ron & family, hope they aren’t having problems. Treasure Hunt! It will be interesting to find out just what is this artifact is and how it may help.

Author's reply

Indeed, we are greatly indebted to Arthur's family for allowing us to publish his last story, and thank you on behalf of myself, Ellie and Mari, although we didn't do any of the hard work of writing! I absolutely hate the voice on the GPS. Here in the UK the voice on my niece's GPS is female and always sounds exasperated, possible because my niece never follows the instructions! Don't worry too much about Ron and Family, they will be fine and appearing soon. Indeed the matter of the artifact is fascinating and we shall see if its' uses become clear as the story develops.
