This was so beautifully written! You convey Aragorn's impatience and doubt very well. This is truly how I envision him and Gandalf together! Your Gandalf is wonderfully wise and brusque!

Excellent advice to the Man destined to be King by Gandalf, of course. And he is wise to heed them. We know some of what Frodo saw when he sat atop the platform upon the Seat of Seeing; I hope that Aragorn had some glimpse to strengthen his will to continue the fight against evil as best he might.

we are come nearly to the end now of what the foresight of the Valar can show. Even they cannot see far past the days that will soon be upon us, for they were not shown all in the beginning. This is a very thoughtful and important conversation -- a non-answer from Gandalf that, nevertheless, brings with it hope, trust, and encouragement. Wouldn't we all love to "see" where our choices are leading us, and what will come of our hopes? Aragorn has doubts and fears of course, and thankfully a counselor to whom he can lay bare his longings. Very well done.
