Oh, this was lovely. It felt so right. Your characterization of Celebrian was beautiful. Full of confidence and sureness. The perfect counterpart for Elrond. Thanks for writing.

Lovely to have a new story from you and to see Elrond and Celebrian enjoy some happiness.

Oh, Bodkin--how wonderful to read this! Oh, yes--what was merely a refuge has now indeed become a home, and a good deal because of her!

She slipped under his arm, pressing herself against his lean body and stopping his breath. ‘Perhaps I can help you read this ...’ she pursed her lips as she read a few words, ‘... deeply fascinating document.’ She slipped under his arm, pressing herself against his lean body and stopping his breath. ‘Perhaps I can help you read this ...’ she pursed her lips as she read a few words, ‘... deeply fascinating document.’ Well, excuse me for a moment while I go dunk my head in a bucket of ice water. Wow, Bodkin. This is so perfect for Nilmandra's birthday, she loves Elrond/Celebrian stories best of all. I find myself understanding why.... You cracked me up with Celebrian dropping the bombshell about having babies. Elrond's trepidation notwithstanding, was there ever any doubt this elleth could wind him around her little finger? And I love the idea that we are eyewitnesses to the birth of Imladris. What a beautiful story for a beautiful occasion. It is so good to read your work again. I think we've all missed it.
Dreamflower · 22 June 2015 · Chapter 1: Home is the Hunter
This is SO romantic! I really like the lover's games, as Elrond pretends to ignore her, and she calls him out on it. What a beautiful gift!
Nilmandra · 22 June 2015 · Chapter 1: Home is the Hunter
I feel like I am at home again after reading this. I am right back in Imladris, the last homely house east of the sea and in my mind, to a great love story. Your poetic language makes it so beautiful and wonderful to read. You have brought back to life my favorite couple, in my favorite place, and with such words you breathe life into them. Thank you so much for this trip down memory lane.

Happy birthday, Nilmandra. I've been away from these characters for too long - and it's been far too long since we all immersed ourselves in Middle-earth. Thank you for your compliments.

Oh, Celebrian, you are wonderful! And just what Elrond needs. I love that you don't make her timid or stuffy or any of the other things I've read. deeper and wilder and more passionate. Her mother’s daughter, undoubtedly, but her father’s, too. Strong and wilful, generous and kind, understanding and intelligent. Perfect! She definitely knows exactly how to deal with an elf like Elrond, and all for his better! Great story, thank you for sharing!
Author's reply
I think Celebrian is exactly what Elrond needs - someone who loves him for what he is, not what he represents. He's been on his own for far too long - friends are great, but family is family. Not that he gets to be too happy for too long. Fate couldn't allow that! Thank you.
curiouswombat · 22 June 2015 · Chapter 1: Home is the Hunter
How lovely to see this interlude in their life together. Poor Elrond - he has a lot to learn about the realities of bringing up children...
Author's reply
Perhaps elven children are more reasonable ... ... ... No, just won't happen! Thank you.

‘It is home, is it not?’ she said contentedly. ‘Somewhere to belong.’ Lovely. This is a peaceful, very beautiful story. What a nice gift for Nilmandra.

Thank you. I like to see a happy Elrond, freed (for a while) from the cares of his role in the world.

That was exquisitely beautiful! So full of emotion. Sign. I miss your writing.
Author's reply
Thank you. I miss this, too. It got so I could write little emotional pieces, but they lacked - well, plot. It might come back to me. I enjoyed writing this.

Oh God, Bodkin. This is exquisite. The language is just beautiful. I'd forgotten how wonderfully you write. I love how you draw Celebrian's character and enjoyed seeing her utterly undo Elrond :-) There's so much depth here and yet, I also just loved the romance of the moment. And I do think Celebrian's new project is a worthwhile one! Stunning, Bodkin.
Author's reply
I love playing with words. But it's so difficult to come up with plot - and action! Elrond needs Celebrian. It's a tragedy that he lost her for so long. My brother (who is a serious LOTR reader) feels that fanfiction is not True to the Word - but I think the Word needs amending in various points. Nothing wrong with a bit of romance to fortify the upright elf. Thank you.
daw the minstrel · 22 June 2015 · Chapter 1: Home is the Hunter
Bodkin, this was lovely. No one does gorgeous details like you do. The very air sang of her presence, the motes of dust gleamed, and her nearness resonated in his bones the gleam of her moon-bright hair and inhaled the freshness of unfurling leaves after spring rain Those are so lovely and physical and right, and they set the stage for the moment when the Last Homely House comes to be. ‘Just because someone knows how to write, it does not mean that he should,’ Celebrían sniffed Oh boy. You got that one right, Celebrian! Actually, I think this is one of the best characterizations of Celebrian I've seen, done in a few quick strokes. deeper and wilder and more passionate. Her mother’s daughter, undoubtedly, but her father’s, too. Strong and wilful, generous and kind, understanding and intelligent. His wife, his Celebrían. He was still surprised that her parents had allowed him to approach her. How had they borne her decision to leave them for someone like him? That makes her seem so substantive, so she's a far better match for Elrond than a wispy girl would be. I like the idea of her as her father's daughter as well as her mother's. Celeborn is an underappreciated character. And then he has to struggle to keep up with her...in a number of ways, actually. Like settling into his role at home in this valley rather than in a role as a warrior. And like "bringing new life" to his family. I seem to have mostly quoted your story back to you. Sorry! But this was great.
Author's reply
Thanks, daw. I'm glad you like it. It's hard to imagine Elrond falling for a girlie girl. I think he would appreciate strength of mind. Not a lot of plot, though. Plot is much more your thing. (Plus sustained characterisation and world building.)
