How lovely! I read this 10 years late, but it is still beautiful. And it is almost Advent now. I remembered Fiondil's stories fondly, too.

Linda Hoyland · 27 December 2014 · Chapter 24: Hope
These were excellent ficlets. I've just finished reading them. I enjoyed them though I rarely read Silmarillion stories
Author's reply
And I rarely write them, as you know. ;) I'm glad that you enjoyed them nonetheless.
obsidianj · 25 December 2014 · Chapter 22: The Dispossessed
This is so sad, but it has an inner logic that I can't deny. Another one to blame on Feanor. What was he thinking...
Author's reply
*Was* he thinking at all, to begin with? I have my doubts...
UTfrog · 24 December 2014 · Chapter 24: Hope
Fantastic job with these. Thank you.
Author's reply
I am glad you enjoyed them. Thanks for commenting.
Larner · 24 December 2014 · Chapter 24: Hope
A lovely promise of hope in this poor child, bereft of his father. As for Curufinwe--why am I not surprised? Love the whole series!
Author's reply
As I love yours! Thanks for the continuing support, it means a lot to me! Author Reply: As I love yours! Thanks for the continuing support, it means a lot to me!
Larner · 24 December 2014 · Chapter 23: Sanctuary
Oh, I love seeing Galion here as well as Oropher. And the thought of losing their home twice saddens but does not surprise me.
Author's reply
They did have a harsh fate, for sure, but they managed to build themselves a good life nonetheless, and that all on their own. I think that deserves respect.
Fiondil · 24 December 2014 · Chapter 24: Hope
Congratulations and Merry Christmas! I'm glad you ended this series on a note of hope. Very well done. I enjoyed the entire series from beginning to end. Reading these was often the highlight of my day. Thanks for sharing your Ardaverse with us.
Author's reply
Awww, shuck, see what you have done? You made me blush! ;) I am glad you enjoyed the series - I know it wasn't always an easy read. Blessed Christnas to you, too!
Fiondil · 24 December 2014 · Chapter 23: Sanctuary
An interesting take on elven history. I like the idea of Kôr being the original stronghold at Amon Lanc which later became Dol Guldur. And it is ironic that Oropher's House lost their ancient homeland twice, but his son, Thranduil, did well enough in the end.
Author's reply
The Elvenking was my second love (Elrond being then first) and I alwys thought that he rocked, facing Dol Guldur by ordinary means, without the help of any magic trinkets. That must have been tough. Which is why I loved the respect shown to him in EA 3 so much.
Fiondil · 22 December 2014 · Chapter 22: The Dispossessed
Sorry I haven't reviewed lately, but this time of year is very hectic. I have been reading though and enjoying each story. This story, however, struck a cord with me, for I was trying to place this on the Darkening timeline. Has Arafinwë not returned yet? For I would think he would squash the anger and all against the innocent very quickly. Or is he still on the road back and when he returns he will find half his remaining household mysteriously gone? They were all insane, I think, and no one from the Valar on down was thinking straight about anything. One of these days I'd like to continue my Darkening story to describe the steps Arafinwë took to reclaim the respect of the other clans for the Noldor who remained behind. I think that's a story worth telling.
Author's reply
Frankly, I didn't give the timeline much thought, as I'm not as well-versed in the First Age as I probably should be. I just wanted to address this particular event that was already mentioned in "Elvenhome". These little nothings are just ideas that I couldn't fit into the already overloaded storyline. And believe me, I know about hectic. Christmas break couln't come soon enough. When I've caught up with all the things that had to be put on hold because of work, I might have a couple of days to do something I actually enjoy.
Larner · 21 December 2014 · Chapter 21: Prodigal Daughter
Celebrian is the proper one to reintroduce her to life, I think. And may she and Gwindor find happiness together.
Author's reply
I wish them from all my heart, too. If it ever happens... that remains to be seen.
UTfrog · 21 December 2014 · Chapter 21: Prodigal Daughter
Very nice! Thank you.
Author's reply
I'm happy that you liked it. :)
shirebound · 21 December 2014 · Chapter 21: Prodigal Daughter
It's interesting to imagine Celebrían's life in the West, and how she may have been of service to others.
Author's reply
She has come a long way since "Elvenhome", that is true.
Larner · 20 December 2014 · Chapter 20: Empty-Handed
I must say that he has indeed known a bad time of it! Poor Elf!
Author's reply
One day, if I live long enough, I'm going to write his story. The Elf had a life like an action movie, after all.
obsidianj · 20 December 2014 · Chapter 12: Bereft
This was a bitter reunion. I feel for Celebrian, but Elrond's sorrow is also palpable in this short piece.
obsidianj · 20 December 2014 · Chapter 11: The Longing
Yeah, how can Elrond arrive before Celebrian and tell her all her children preferred to stay in Arda? I can see him dreading this encounter as much as he must rejoice at seeing his wife again.
obsidianj · 20 December 2014 · Chapter 1: Judgement
What a lovely story. I like the idea that Celebrian speaks up for Maglor. He couldn't be all bad. Celebrian is right that he did a great job with Elrond and Elros.
UTfrog · 19 December 2014 · Chapter 19: Failure
I am running out of ways to tell you how good these stories really are. Thank you.
Author's reply
I am really glad that you enjoy them. Thanks for telling me.
Larner · 19 December 2014 · Chapter 19: Failure
And I so suspect that it will be forgiving himself that will prove the hardest. He has reason to regret what is done, but he will see he has reason also to look to the future for what he can give to and receive from it.
Author's reply
Let's hope so. Perhaps the time in Mandos has set his head right.
Larner · 19 December 2014 · Chapter 18: Follow-Up
Indeed a loss to Aman. Although Atar will not forget these three in His own song.
Author's reply
And, as we know, they will have an important task among the Moriquendi.
Larner · 18 December 2014 · Chapter 17: Alqualondë
What a grief for them to have known! And they have lost one of their Lord's sons as well. I am glad that he realizes his sister, at least, will remain safe no matter what.
UTfrog · 17 December 2014 · Chapter 17: Alqualondë
Very moving. These stories had to have been very difficult to write as they are also difficult to read. You are doing a fabulous job with difficult subjects. I cannot say I like each of these, but I am moved by them. Thank you.
Author's reply
Thanks. I don't necessarily like each of them, either, but these were ideas that wanted to be written and didn't fit into any of the actual stories, so I used this format to get them out of my hair. I'm glad that you found them worth reading.
Fiondil · 17 December 2014 · Chapter 16: The Great Divide
Wow! That is... just wow! Sorry, but really, words escape me. Very powerfully written, Soledad. Keep it up. This is great!
Author's reply
Thank you. I'm trying to pull this thing through. *fingers crossed*
shirebound · 17 December 2014 · Chapter 16: The Great Divide
This is very powerfully written, and quite an interesting concept to think about.
Author's reply
Thank you. This is an idea I've been playing with for quite some time. I'm glad it sounds convincing.
Larner · 16 December 2014 · Chapter 16: The Great Divide
So this is how they were sundered, eh? Alas for Melkor's meddling.
Author's reply
Yes, that is basically it. A sad tale no matter from which side you look at it, I think.
