As always I am thrilled to see a new chapter to any of your wonderful stories. You are filling in the early years of Aragorn's return beautifully. Thank you.

Author's reply

Thanks so, UTfrog. I have loved Aragorn since I was a young teen, after all.

shirebound · 31 January 2017 · Chapter 15: Butchery

see to it that at least one young Man of Angmar knows the truth of our nature. What a wise and mature conclusion. How terrible is war!

Author's reply

Malvegern is, I believe, a wise man, and one who has learned a good deal about human nature while working with his youthful charges. Yes, war is indeed terrible, and not something people should go into blindly.

So this is how Aragorn came to dislike dressing and carving meat, can't say I blame him. Being up front and personal with your enemy is a lot more immediate than doing it from a distance. Keep it coming, Lynda

Author's reply

Not a pleasant introduction to the art of killing other men before they kill oneself and one's companions. I hope to have the next chapter done soon, but we will see what we will see, of course.

Aranadhel · 31 January 2017 · Chapter 15: Butchery

Larner my friend...always have I enjoyed reading the updates on this story. Excellent once more. Pray tell.. since you know I'm a fan of Elves... will they meet any along the way from Rivendell sans the sons of Elrond?

Author's reply

I'm not certain, Aranadhel. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the denizens of Rivendell come to the "graduation," of course. Heh! Thanks so!

Dreamflower · 6 January 2017 · Chapter 14: Revelations of Family

At last I am getting some time to catch up on all the new stories and updates here at SoA! I'm so glad to see him begin to open up to his family, and especially to Halbarad, who will become his best friend!

Author's reply

I still have to read all of the Yule Exchange stories. It has been a tumultuous last few weeks, and our current cold snap here in the great Pacific Northwest ain't helping.

PSW · 4 December 2016 · Chapter 14: Revelations of Family

Oh Aragorn, your long list of names is just getting started! :-P I definitely can understand about Ivorwen's back. Mine is often slightly out, and you really don't notice those small tweaks until someone (the chiropractor in my case, not Aragorn:-P) goes right to it and starts pushing on it... and then it feels so good to have it fixed. :-) No matter how Aragorn finally returned to his larger family and his people, I think it must have been somewhat awkward. There is no graceful way to extricate oneself from what was done in order to protect him.... But it seems like Aragorn/Ari/Estel/Peridhrion is making a good start of it. :-) Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

I apologize for taking so long to respond, but I'm just getting back to finishing the last few chapters of this story now that the holidays are over and other responsibilities are now dealt with. My late husband had known training as a masseur, and so often I rejoiced that he could carefully put back what the stresses of a day might have caused to get just out of place. Yes, his list of names and titles is beginning to grow, and we know how long it will eventually be. But I do think that there would be a number of changes both sides would have had to accept and deal with as he acclimated himself to his new position in life and his new responsibilities. Thank you so!

Matt · 2 December 2016 · Chapter 14: Revelations of Family

Great chapter. Loads of insight into Aragorn's character and also the first big steps of the growth of his connection to Hallborad. Great job as always on this, looking forward to the next installment and thankful for your hard work on this one.

Author's reply

Sorry it's taken so long to respond, but it's been a busy last two months with little energy to keep all things going as promptly as they ought to go. Thank you, and look for a new chapter probably within a few days. Just had to get the honorarium to the good Professor finished and posted.

6336 · 2 December 2016 · Chapter 14: Revelations of Family

To go from just having Naneth and Adar, Elladan and Elrohir to finding out you have all these relatives just waiting to meet you has to be overwhelming. Still waiting for Orominion to find The Sword That Was Broken in Peredhiron's pack. Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Oh, that's coming, but there's still at least one other chapter to come first. Heh! And yes, his family is suddenly taking on new dimensions he must learn to deal with! Thanks so!

shirebound · 1 December 2016 · Chapter 14: Revelations of Family

What a beautiful, satisfying chapter. All of the conversations ring true. I especially enjoyed this bit of Not so unlikely) banter: “So, do you see yourself gathering names and nicknames and titles all through your lifetime as was common to the old Elves?” Peredhrion turned on his side to better see Halbarad’s face. “Why shouldn’t I?” They grinned at one another. “I can see it now,” Halbarad said cheerfully. “One day they will need an entire volume just to hold all of the names they call you by.”

Author's reply

Thank you so, and thank you for your patience in awaiting a response to this. Holidays, work, and other commitments and all that. And Puppy Day is put off for another two weeks, as Narcissa is just newly weaned. At eight weeks this is perhaps delayed, but she's in fine health and has a vigorous wag to her tail! As soon as I can get them I'll try to post her photos alongside those of Brendi, Pandora, and Melia, the last two of blessed memory.

Freyalyn · 1 December 2016 · Chapter 14: Revelations of Family

And poor Halbarad is given this vision - and we all know he never sees it with his own eyes... More lovely story. Thank you.

Author's reply

I believe he would wish to know Aragorn would come to that estate, and would rejoice to know it could indeed be so. And thank you so, Freyalyn.

iboneki · 28 November 2016 · Chapter 13: The King's Gift of Healing

Gorgeous chapter! The descriptions of Aragorn healing were perfect. And I loved Ivorwen's emphatic statement at the end!

Author's reply

Thank you so! It is wonderful to explore Ivorwen's character in this fic. Thank you again!

Andrea · 27 November 2016 · Chapter 13: The King's Gift of Healing

That was a perfect demonstration of Aragorn's healing abilities. Not only the healing hands but also the Singing and the invocations (or prayers) that he learned from Elrond were essential for his quick success. Now there was no question he was flushing. But still, he is just a young man like all the others and behaves like them. I like this very much!

Author's reply

He is indeed a young Man, with all of the uncertainties that the others have, although with more experience at warfare and other skills, but with far less experience at reading Men's feelings or understanding their reactions. Thank you so, Andrea!

6336 · 25 November 2016 · Chapter 0: Words of Hope

Glad to give you a giggle. Lynda

6336 · 25 November 2016 · Chapter 0: Words of Hope

Oh, I can just imagine that pair of jokers giggling like Elflings once they are far enough away not to be heard! "Do you think we were solemn enough "Roh?" "Oh, yes I think so, they must be singing with joy about now!" Lynda

Author's reply

Now you have me imagining this scene, too, Lynda! Heh! Thank you!

obsidianj · 23 November 2016 · Chapter 13: The King's Gift of Healing

Ivorwen was lucky that Aragorn was there and Aragorn could show off his talents without showing off if you take my meaning. His healing hands were needed and even if someone else would have been able to do it, Aragorn could do it in a better way.

Author's reply

Yes, most fortunate for both of them, I think. Aragorn is indeed coming into his own.

PSW · 22 November 2016 · Chapter 13: The King's Gift of Healing

I love the healing description. The prayers and thanks seem very much like something he would have been taught by Elrond, along with the physical aspect. It's nice that everyone can be calm about him not knowing all his family members -- No making him feel more awkward about it, just 'we'll catch up w each other later'... I'm enjoying, thanks for writing!

Author's reply

In my-verse the prayer of invocation is one he and Sam both tend to use frequently, Sam having found it in an Elvish herbal that Frodo had copied for Bilbo as a gift from Menegilda and having learned it off in the Common Tongue as something both Elvish and beautiful, even if he didn't properly understand it at first. And there is time for these to approach Aragorn quietly and without a lot of fanfare, or so I'd think. Seeing he'd wished to ease into Dunedain society as he had, I don't believe they'd want to "out" him precipitously. Thanks so!

Matt · 22 November 2016 · Chapter 13: The King's Gift of Healing

Great job on this chapter, helping Peredrian develop the legitimacy he will need. Thanks for your hard work on this and happy Thanksgiving.

Author's reply

Thanks so, Matt. Am trying to actually get this finished as well as "Stirring Rings," which also has proved difficult to keep flowing properly. Yes, Peredhrion is indeed proving himself as one who holds both the King's Gifts and the wisdom to use them well. And a joyful Thanksgiving to you, too.

Arwen75 · 22 November 2016 · Chapter 13: The King's Gift of Healing

I realise although I have been reading this story since you first started posting it I have never left a review. I love the interaction in this chapter - and knowing your story of how the patrol came to know who this strange elf-man truly was I can sense it coming closer. I keep finding myself re-reading your stories - which shows how much I enjoy your fanon :)

Author's reply

It has been a time since I heard from you, and you know how pleased it makes me to hear from you now! I am truly honored by the comments you've made, and thank you so for letting me know. Yes, the time draws closer indeed! Hope to have the next chapter up soon. My hard drive went dead on me, and I reluctantly need to get a new computer soon! Aargh! Thank you so!

KathyG · 21 November 2016 · Chapter 13: The King's Gift of Healing

I have just read the reviews that have been posted so far. I, too, an needle-phobic, and so I can empathize. A real-life modern-day doctor with Aragorn's gifts as well as access to modern medicine would be useful indeed!

Author's reply

Oh, I know I am not alone in being needle-phobic. It's difficult, isn't it? There have been very few who can come at me with a hypodermic in hand without me running for the hills. I'd love to meet another true healer like Aragorn! I've seen so few who can keep me from panicking.

shirebound · 21 November 2016 · Chapter 13: The King's Gift of Healing

It's wonderful that even so early in his life Aragorn is giving people hope. The healing was such a nicely-written scene.

Author's reply

Oh, yes, his childhood name is carrying over, I suspect. Thank you so, Shirebound!

harrowcat · 21 November 2016 · Chapter 13: The King's Gift of Healing

I suspect that there is many a modern patient who would benefit from such holistic, drug free, healing but, on the other hand we have much to be grateful for in terms of new medications. Still loving this Larner.

Author's reply

I so agree. I'd rather be treated so myself! As one who is horribly needle-phobic, I do wish we had more people who could do as Aragorn could. But he would have loved to have the use of antibiotics, I'm certain.

Andrea · 30 October 2016 · Chapter 12: Rest and Recovery

What a coincidence for the two parties to meet there at Lifewater Farm! And Peredhrion was the one who convinced Orominion to apologize? Well, maybe there is still hope for Orominion... I'm looking forward to reading more.

Author's reply

Oh, yes--quite the coincidence. But I do believe that the old order needs to realize that the one intended to be the Hope for the northern Dunedain does indeed fit the bill! And I do believe that one of Aragorn's gifts was to bring most he met to demonstrate their inner nobility as much as possible. Sorry to be so late in replying, but my computer went down--twice! before I could get to many of these comments.

Andrea · 29 October 2016 · Chapter 11: Rivalry

Orominion has really a bad character! I'm not quite sure if it is not already too late to change him. But I am sure that we will hear from him again. As for Peredhrion: Healers never like to be patients ;-)

obsidianj · 23 October 2016 · Chapter 12: Rest and Recovery

It needed courage for Orominion to apologize. And he did it gracefully. Looking forward to the meeting between Argorn and Ivorwen.

Author's reply

Yes, it took courage--and some encouragement from Peredhrion, I suspect. Heh! Thanks so!

obsidianj · 23 October 2016 · Chapter 11: Rivalry

Ouch! On one hand I think Orominion got what he deserved on the other I hope they didn't make an enemy. He strikes me as someone that might be holding a grudge for a long time and being humiliated in front of his patrol and strangers might not go down well. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing him getting his comeuppance.
