An excellent story. I truly enjoyed reading it even though the thought of Imladris being invaded by Orcs is horrifying.

ellie · 5 June 2013 · Chapter 4: much needed reassurance

A good ending but a troubling one as well...

Author's reply

indeed, and Elrond will have a lot to think about and I´m already thinking hard about a sequel. LOL. Thank you so much for revieweing, Ellie. Lai

What a great tale Laikwalasse, a mystery and suspense! loved it. I so feel for Elladan though, we are a bit of kindred spirits. I too have the patience of a knat, lol. there is nothing more frustrating than waiting on someone you know you cannot not force to bend to your will. ***sighs*** the ending was great, very nice to sneak a peak into what I always thought was a very deep friendship underlying service. enjoyed it immensely.

Author's reply

thank you so much for your lovely words and I can wholehardedly agree with you. I´m a bit like Elladan too, but Glorfndel is Glorfindel and Elladan will have to be content with the information he is getting. Even if the great friendship of Glorfindel and Elrond is known, I also love to remember that Glorfindel is dong a service to the other Elf-lord and if this service is done with love and dedication then it is the best you can get. Again thank you for reviewing. I really appreciate it. Lai

Fiondil · 18 May 2013 · Chapter 4: much needed reassurance

Ah, a satisfying ending even though we never learn who or what attacked Elrond and how his defenses were breached. Loved Glorfindel in this. He can be so intimidating when he wants to be, especially toward the twins. Elrond is very fortunate to have him as a friend and protector. Thanks, Lai!

Author's reply

you are welcome, Fiondil. Yes the end was satisfying, but I suspect Elrond will have a lot to think about. And you are right, Glorfindel is simply the best. Who was behind the attack....mmmmhm...much room for a sequel? THank you so much for reviewing. I really appreciate it. Lai

Agape4Gondor · 18 May 2013 · Chapter 4: much needed reassurance

Wow. That was certainly a daunting tale. It reminded me of Gondolin. Glad that ending was different. But it is unsettling. Well done.

Author's reply

unsettling indeed and Elrond will surely need some time to come to terms with it and investigate what happened. I´m glad you liked the story even if it was unsettling. Many thanks for reviewing. Lai

Ilya · 17 May 2013 · Chapter 4: much needed reassurance

Brilliant way to end it! I'm glad Elrond and Glorfindel are recovering. Here's hoping nothing like this ever happens again- it was a bit too close! Great story though.

Author's reply

I´m so glad you liked the ending. Elrond is recovering but this time it has affected him and surely he is also hoping for no repetition. Thank yo so much for reading and reviewing. Lai

Agape4Gondor · 7 May 2013 · Chapter 3: what the future tells

Wow! This was intense. I was grateful to know that the terror and destruction, the countless deaths existed only in Elrond's mind... but still Great tale. Superb writing.

Author's reply

yes, it only exists in Elrond´s mind but for him it was just as real and he will have to need some time to get over this. I´m so glad you find it a great tale and much more superb writing, I´m flattened. Thank you, Agape. Lai

Fiondil · 7 May 2013 · Chapter 3: what the future tells

Yay for Glorfindel! He's the man...er... elf! LOL! Great chapter, Lai. Now to find out who is behind the attack and how to counter it and save Elrond. If Glorfindel can't find the answer, no one can.

Author's reply

On Glorfindel you can count and he can still surprise our youngsters. Elrond can count himself lucky for such a companion. Thank you so much for reviewing, Fiondil, you know how much I appreciate it. Lai

Ilya · 7 May 2013 · Chapter 3: what the future tells

So Imladris was not really overrun by orcs (which I'd guessed anyway) but someone, presumably Sauron, is attacking Elrond's mind. Glorfindel managed to halt the attack, but Elrond might still die. I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU LEFT IT THERE! Please update soon.

Author's reply

yes, Elrond is not out of the woods yet, and even if Glorfindel could repel the attack they have still to determine who is behind this. Sorry for the cliffhanger, but - where would be the fun? LOL! I´m glad you liked the chapter, even if you already guessed what really happened. Thank you for reviewing. Lai

Ellie · 6 May 2013 · Chapter 3: what the future tells

Wow! That was a lot for everyone to try to fix without understanding what was going on. Glorfindel is amazing as always. at least the twins backed off and let him work and do his best to try to help Elrond. I wonder how they will pull Elrond back from the abyss?

Author's reply

On Glorfindel you can count and he is ever good for a surprise. The next (and last)chapter will answer if he was able to pull poor Elrond back, even if he will not reveal all of his secrets, much to Elladan´s dismay. Thank you so much for reviewing, Ellie. Lai

Fiondil · 28 April 2013 · Chapter 2: and so it begins

Oh wow, Lai! This is one seriously intense chapter. I felt every moment of Elrond's anguish and horror as he watched Imladris fall. Not sure where you're going with this, but now I'm hanging off the cliff waiting for the next chapter.

Author's reply

this was my intention: to transfer the emotions of Elrond right to my readers. The next chapter will release all anguish, I promise. Please dont tumble off the cliff until then,*g*. Thank you for reviewing, Fiondil. Lai

demeter d · 27 April 2013 · Chapter 2: and so it begins

Glorfindel's second says "he's dead", who else would he mean? And Erestor died beside him. One of his sons cradleing his dead twin. Rooms full of hacked to bits children and women. This would be the stuff of nightmare for Elrond, all right. The only thing now would be for him to open some door in time to see some orc hacking his wife to pieces. Depending upon when this was suppossed to be, he might have thought her safely in the Undying Lands. I am still betting on this being a nightmare. But who is having it? And when? No mention has yet been made of his daughter. Is Elrond having the dream during one of her stays in Lorien? Rhetorical question, of course. I know you won't be answering it, just yet!

Author's reply

a nightmare, mmmhm? You are near the mark but...not quite! That would be the only possible explanation, or? LOL! I could have killed Arwen also, yes, but she is in Lorien, now you know at what time this is happening. I´m glad you are curious ti know how this will be solved. Stay until the next chapter and you will know. Thank you so much for reviewing. I really appreciateit. Lai

Ilya · 27 April 2013 · Chapter 2: and so it begins

Elladan, Glorfindel AND numerous residents of Rivendell slain? WHAT is going on? where in Arda did all the Orcs come from? Poor Elrond....

Author's reply

yes where did they come from all of a sudden? Hang on a bit long to the next chapter and all questions will be answered. Poor Elrond indeed, he needs now all our support. LOL! Thank you for reiewing. Lai

Matt · 27 April 2013 · Chapter 2: and so it begins

This is an interesting story. Obviously A/U but in many ways its kind of hanging in air because you don't explain how the A/U comes loose from canon. You write action well and I'll have to look at your other stories more closely to see what you've done with them. Thanks for an interesting start, I'll look forward to more.

Author's reply

and again it´s no AU! The miracle will be lifted with the next chapter, promise! I´m so glad that you find me writing action well - it´s not so really my playground. And if you are willing to look at my other stories I would be happy. Thank you so much for a most encouraging review. Lai

ellie · 27 April 2013 · Chapter 2: and so it begins

WOW! This is so sad!

Author's reply

yes it is! I had to sniff while writing. Thank you for reviewing, Ellie. Lai

Fiondil · 19 April 2013 · Chapter 1: the end of all days; Elrond’s POV

Okay, this is pretty intense. Not sure where you're going with this, Lai, but I look forward to seeing more. Elladan and Erestor dead and Glorfindel hasn't been seen for hours? Not good. Not good at all.

Author's reply

blame the still clinging winter for my gloomy mood. I had to write something intense and dark -well here it is but be assured -it IS NOT GOOD AT ALL. Thank you for reviewing, Fiondil. I really appreciate it. Lai

demeter d · 18 April 2013 · Chapter 1: the end of all days; Elrond’s POV

Oh my goodness! So vivid, so real. I felt like I was standing right beside Elrond, or watching the scene through his eyes. Not an "AU"? Most intrigueing. I will most definitely be following this one. My other quess would be someone's fevered dream. But whose, I could not begin to guess! One other thought this inspired in me...I have lived most of my 50-some years in mostly peaceful communities, large or small, in the valleys of the Rocky Mountains of North America. Yes, I have heard of several rather horrible murders in my life, even in the farming town of about 5,000 people where I mostly grew up. As a child, images from the Viet Nam war, and race riots in Watts, Detroit and other cities were beamed right into my living room. But, outside of a couple of serious floods and the occasional range fire, I have never been in a community in the midst of a war, or riot, or terrorist attack. I have these last two days watched the images from the Boston Marathon attack with a horrible fascination. I can only think that "of those to whom much is given, much is required" and I ought to gratefully give to causes which try to comfort and aid those who have suffered such horrors. I shall be giving much thought to how I would react to such things happening around me, or to those I care about. A POWERFUL story!

Author's reply

I´m so glad that a theme so dark felt real and vivid to you. It was my intention to let the reader stand next to Elrond and obviously it worked. Like you I have no experience how an attack in my wont surroundings would feel like, yet I can very good sympathize with those who have to endure something like that. I´m also watching what is happening in Boston and can only shake my head. I´m glad I had enough imagination to transport the dark image into your room. Thank you for a most appreciated review, demeter. Lai

Agape4Gondor · 18 April 2013 · Chapter 1: the end of all days; Elrond’s POV

Wow! This is really dark. I'm kind of reeling from the carnage.

Author's reply

dark indeed! I hope you like it nonetheless. Lai

Ilya · 18 April 2013 · Chapter 1: the end of all days; Elrond’s POV

Good heavens, whatever has happened?! So many dead.... is this an AU where Sauron regains the Ring? That's the only explanation I can think of...what will happen now?

Author's reply

this is definitely no AU! There has to be another explanation. I´m glad I hooked you. THank you so much for the first review. Lai
