Oh, but I am so glad that you revisited the first story in such a way! Aragorn is right, and particularly for Aragorn's acceptance of the oaths of his new lords--and Faramir in particular. It is time, and past time, for Faramir to serve with a love that is requited from his own Lord.

Author's reply

Thank you. I'm pleased you agree with Aragorn.

It was good to read this once again. And I love how the last two promises of the Lord receiving the oath have been reversed, so that the greatest importance is that fealty will be met with love.

Author's reply

Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed re-reading and the revised oath.

This is *squealing with glee* brilliant Linda. And a happy birthday to Larner too!

Aragorn regarded him with a steely gaze. “Why should the wording not be changed? Does it make the oath less binding?” “No, my lord, but it goes against tradition and protocol!” I like this very much. Aragorn has a mind of his own, and won't cling to old ways just because they're old.

Thank you so much.

Oh, thank you so very much, Linda! I am thrilled! Oh, yes, this day he received the honor he ought to have received so many years ago, and openly displayed for all to see. How different his place now than it was then! And I rejoice that Aragorn descended from the throne to meet Faramir on his own ground, as it were. And the thoughtfulness of the cushion shows so much of the new King's character as well as the care he offers those who swear fealty with him!

Awwwww. Very touching story; one that made me smile very widely at the end. Faramir is truly coming into his own; though at a tragic cost.

*smiles* So beautiful. I couldn't stop grinning as I read the second half of this Linda. I really couldn't. It's such a shame Faramir's father couldn't see the wonderful man his youngest son truly was. Always makes me sad. You captured the sorrow and longing Faramir must have always felt beautifully I loved that Eowyn was in nearly the exact place Boromir had been years later. Sweet little detail. *smiles some more*

The Steward knew, though, that there were many within the Realm whose first loyalties were to the House of Húrin. It was important that they see that he freely swore fealty to his new lord. So wise! I love the ending of this story. Faramir's heart needed to heal as surely as his body did.

A very interesting look at two pivotal moments in Faramir's life and the difference in which his oaths were received by Denethor and Aragorn. Well done, Linda. I enjoyed this very much.
