Having read, sneakily, at work I have finally remembered to come back to say how much I enjoyed reading these - and to hope you had a nice birthday after all!
Lindelea · 18 May 2013 · Chapter 7: Landroval
Belated happy birthday! How I love flying dreams... Lovely, the way you captured this characters exuberance and savage joy!
Lindelea · 18 May 2013 · Chapter 8: Meneldor
Wonderful, amazingly complete picture drawn with a few skillful strokes. Thanks!
Ellynn · 18 May 2013 · Chapter 8: Meneldor
Very nice! ;)
Antane · 18 May 2013 · Chapter 8: Meneldor
Maybe he should be sent after Sam again now that he's gone AWOL from the camp. I have been waiting anxiously for days now... Namarie, God bless, Your bloom :)
Larner · 18 May 2013 · Chapter 8: Meneldor
Indeed! What better reason to seek their rescue now? Hooray for Meneldor!
Author's reply
Hello Larner, hooray for them all! Wish I had a Giant Eagle. Would get me to and from work so much faster ... Thanks for R & R-ing, m'dear. M ;)
demeter d · 18 May 2013 · Chapter 7: Landroval
All right, here we go, "Happy Birthday to you, and to your muse, too. We all adore your writing, Best Wishes to You!" This was a lovely, hobbity birthday present for the rest of us, as well. Landroval reminds me of a retired motorcycle gang member I knew years ago. He came to the office where I worked to pick up his wife ( a co-worker) for lunch. She said "just a minute, I have to run next door to the Credit Union first." Said he, "I am a BIKER, we do not WALK ANYWHERE!" Sure enough, they RODE across the parking lot to the other building! I have enjoyed all of these little pictures. You do very well getting inside of the subjects of the pieces and letting us see through their eyes.
shirebound · 18 May 2013 · Chapter 8: Meneldor
With a jubilant screech... I'm sure it was! :)
Author's reply
Hello shirebound, yeah, there's nothing like a youngling with his target in sight, especially if it means depriving Sauron of one final strike against the West. Bless Meneldor, and all his feathered friends! Thanks for R & R-ing, I really do appreciate that you always take the time to do so. You are simply too good to me. M :0
Antane · 4 May 2013 · Chapter 7: Landroval
Thank you for the gift, dear cousin! Happy Day!! Eagles are good for rescuing stranded hobbits too, thank God! Namarie, God bless, Your bloom, who celebrates your life and hopes you have a great time doing the same! :)
Larner · 4 May 2013 · Chapter 7: Landroval
Oh, how wonderful a look at the valiant warrior from the skies! And a most wonderful birthday to you!
Larner · 4 May 2013 · Chapter 6: Snowmane
Snomane's Howe must have become a popular monument in the ensuing years. He was faithful until the end, and deserved to be remembered with the respect given him.
Larner · 4 May 2013 · Chapter 5: Windfola
Aha! So, the combination of a warrior maiden and a Hobbit together is closer to what he's accustomed to, eh? I like the idea! And thanks so for the comments on "A Moment of Light." I was glad to have the chance to explore that moment more deeply! Yes, poor Frodo, who is headed toward the worst portion of their journey!
celeth · 4 May 2013 · Chapter 7: Landroval
awww! please dont be dejected... (starts singing Happy Birthday To You...) that was a nice one. i always loved Gwaihir and Landroval for rescuing Frodo and Sam, and for helping the Captains of the West. That was such a lovely dream you had. No wonder you didnt want to wake up. when i was a kid i always envied the freedm birds seem to enjoy, especially the. great eagles soaring way up there, it must be wonderful to see the world from such a vantag e point...
Ellynn · 4 May 2013 · Chapter 7: Landroval
Happy birthday! :) And you made a nice birthday present for yourself, I especially lke the last two lines, they are so powerful (if that's the right expression).
Andrea · 4 May 2013 · Chapter 7: Landroval
Yes, that's an eagle's point of view! Why bother to walk when you can fly! I wish you a very happy birthday :-)
Author's reply
Hello Andrea, wish I could fly. Wouldn't that be great? Oh, the freedom of soaring through the skies, looking for a Snitch ... er, I mean a worm ... er, well, okay. I'm not a witch, so Quidditch is off the cards. And I don't fancy living on worms. Maybe flying isn't all it's cracked up to be ... Still, the odd (occasional) helicopter trip would be nice! Thanks for the birthday wishes, and for R & R-ing, M ;)
shirebound · 3 May 2013 · Chapter 7: Landroval
Happy Birthday! I hope you have an exhilarating flying dream tonight. I love the Eagles, and enjoy seeing events and people through their POVs.
Author's reply
Hello shirebound, hope you enjoyed Landroval's pov, then! Unfortunately, I didn't have a flying dream last night. But I'm fairly sure Detective Robert Goren (from Law & Order: Criminal Intent) was in it somewhere, so that was a very nice birthday present from my own subconscious! Thanks for R & R-ing (and the birthday wishes!), M ;)
Antane · 8 April 2013 · Chapter 6: Snowmane
Poor Theoden and poor Snowmane. So long together and died together. Somehow that is appropriate but how grieved they must have been that such a loyal horse and friend was the cause, if horses can grieve. Namarie, God bless, Your berry :)
Author's reply
Hello bloom, sorry it's taken me so long to reply. Poor Snowmane. Always getting the blame for killing Théoden, when it was out of his hands. Or should I say hooves? *grins* Personally, I blame the dart that felled Snowmane for Théoden's death. And the wicked Enemy that fired it. At least said enemy probably perished not long afterwards, and so couldn't slay any more innocent horses. Or brave kings. Thanks for R & R-ing, cuz. Hope you and yours are well, and that your book is a bestseller! Mrs Gamgee ;)
Lindelea · 7 April 2013 · Chapter 5: Windfola
Aha! Hurrah for Merry, making things less disconcerting for the warhorse. I wonder if Windfola missed his old master.
Author's reply
Hello Lindelea, sorry, I never got the notification for this review, so I didn't know it was here until just now! Hopefully Windfola did eventually find Dernhelm again - or at least made his way back to Rohan. The alternatives don't bear thinking about (shudders). Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Lindelea · 7 April 2013 · Chapter 6: Snowmane
Very positive, indeed. Poor fellow.
Author's reply
Hello again! Poor fellow, indeed. At least he got a marker. And the grass grew sweet and strong over his mound. Not that he can eat it ... *sniggers* I know. I'm bad. Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
shirebound · 7 April 2013 · Chapter 6: Snowmane
I love this. None of the fallen heroes should be forgotten, and this is a wonderful tribute.
Author's reply
Hello shirebound, how right. They should all be honoured, man, beast or otherwise. And I'm honoured you find Windfola's drabble a fitting tribute. Thanks very much for R & R-ing, M ;) Author Reply: I wrote Windfola. I meant Snowmane ... *rolls eyes at self* M ;)
Andrea · 7 April 2013 · Chapter 5: Windfola
I like this one very much! Eowyn and Merry were the perfect team to kill the Witch King of Angmar. To Windfola this was clear even before the battle had started because of their perfect (combined) weight ;-)
Author's reply
Hello Andrea! it does appear WIndfola was smarter than any of us. Maybe he had a sort of horsey premonition, eh? Or maybe not ... if he had, he wouldn't have gone anywhere near the Pelennor, knowing the scary Witch-king was going to be there! Glad you're enjoying the series, and thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Antane · 2 April 2013 · Chapter 5: Windfola
Ah, the Witch-king is about to meet his doom carried on a horse. Gotta love it. :) Namarie, God bless, Your bloom :)
Author's reply
Hello Tooky bloom, yep. THe Witch-king's officially cacking his trousers as we write. If he wears any trousers, that is ... Thanks for R & R-ing, petal, M ;)
shirebound · 2 April 2013 · Chapter 5: Windfola
What fun to get these POVs. :)
Author's reply
Hello shirebound, glad you're enjoying the unusual povs. They're a bit harder to write, though - it's not easy pretending to be an animal! *grins* Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Lindelea · 1 April 2013 · Chapter 4: Shadowfax, Prince of Horses
Lovely! Captures Shadowfax's independence, and the relationship between himself and Gandalf (mutual friendship, no master-and-beast there) quite effectively.
Author's reply
Hello Lindelea, thanks very much. That was just what I wanted to show; the independent monarch of the mearas deciding to aid a friend, as opposed to a beast obeying a command. Glad you liked it! Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
