Oh, I LOVE the one who comes to straighten Haldir out! And love the skipping stones, and the fish treats! Who else would know where to find truly flat stones perfect for skipping and would carry fish treats (and possibly Elf treats as well!) on his person! The description is perfect! Excellent!

Author's reply

Of course Ulmo would carry fish treats. I do have to wdoner what kind of elf treats he would have had though. LOL! I'm pleased you like my Ulmo :-) Thanks for reading and reviewing!

eiluj · 10 October 2012 · Chapter 17

Not so much fun at the beginning, but much fun at the end! I loooved your Ulmo (and his skill at stone-skipping). And things are looking up. And they're going to Doriath and safety -- and it looks as if I don't have to worry whether they get there (thank you for that). And thank you also that none of the wives have had miscarriages and none of the family's kids have been lost. Now I just have to figure out what Doom Adar has planned for Haldir....

Author's reply

Sorry for the delay in replying... The beginning was not much fun at all for anyone. I'm so glad you liked Ulmo. Things are looking up in a way. At least there are survivors and they are on on their way to Doriath now. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Agape4Gondor · 4 October 2012 · Chapter 16

Saelon needs a good whack side of the head! And Damrod with him. How often must Haldir prove that he knows of what he speaks. Whether Saelon can understand why, he should give Haldir the benefit of the doubt and believe him. I can't bear that Haldir is literally lying to his and his friends' children. I understand why, but the repercussions can be so disastrous. I am not happy that the Lothlorien Elves' time of happiness is coming to an end. You are a fiendish writer. Good chapter. Waiting for more.

Author's reply

Saelon has gotten complacent over the years and overly arrogant over things he doesn't understand because they have been strong and stood up to all dangers so far and haven't had to move in many ennin. I also think he is scared to suddenly be finding himself in charge of three settlements instead of one and the terrors being described to him are really too fantastical to believe from his perspective. As for the sons of the Lorien elves...The six already know that their claims about their past were not believed and were deemed hallucinations brought about by injury when they first arrived. I think the six have lived a dream in Celos Galen and are scared themselves seeing it in danger of disappearing forever... I don't think they ever intended to tell their sons what Haldir just told them - at least not while they were enjoying their time in their own little paradise. I am fiendish, but I am very pleased that you are still reading and looking forward to more :-) Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing!

curiouswombat · 3 October 2012 · Chapter 16

Another excellent chapter. In the end Haldir is going to have no option but to tell this younger generation when he and his fellows came from; they are getting too close to asking the right questions...

Author's reply

They are too curious and too smart for the fathers' own good aren't they? The apples did fall from the trees...:-) I'm pleased you are still enjoying this story. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Ellynn · 3 October 2012 · Chapter 16

You build the tension really well here... can't wait for more!

Author's reply

Thank you very much! I hope you feel your anticipation is well rewarded next week!

Larner · 3 October 2012 · Chapter 16

A difficult thing--to hold that one truth from their sons, that they come from a far distant future. And they know that even Menegroth will one day fail, which is another truth they cannot now share. What appears to be foresight is actually long memories simply displaced in time and space.

Author's reply

You hit the nail on the head. It would betough to be the guys from Lorien right now knowing what they do and not being able to do much about it. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Agape4Gondor · 1 October 2012 · Chapter 15

Another fine chapter - though I did get a wee bit lost at the beginning - thinking I'd missed a chapter or two. I even went back to see. I loved Haldir as grandpa... this was such fun to read. And you covered the time passing in a neat way. I love his son. Great time seeing him and the love between father and son. Now -- if we could just keep evil away from them. Drat. I don't think it's possible.

Author's reply

I know that the beginning of the chapter was a bit confusing, but it did help explain the time elapsed. Haldir is a fun grandpa and a tolerent one, too. It is amazing what hundreds of years of being dad can do to change a guy. LOL! I'm glad you like his son. He's a lot like his dad which can be both pleasing and frustrating. Unfortunately for Haldir, history is catching up with him... Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Lyana · 28 September 2012 · Chapter 15

This is so sad! I'm glad he chose to make his life there and enjoy the pleasures of wife, children and grandchildren, but to see the end coming... He knew it would come, but now it is on his doorstep, and he has even more reason to fight the encroaching darkness.

Author's reply

He does have every reason to fight now. He also has more warriors than he had before with sons to fight at his side, but he likewise he has more to lose. We'll see what happens next soon enough... Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing!

Ellynn · 27 September 2012 · Chapter 15

So, Haldir got a big family? :D It is funny to imagine him as baby-sitter. :D But now I am frightened for all of them. The end must come, and Haldir knows it too... :(

Author's reply

Kids that small are a lot more difficult to issue orders to. It was fun putting him in such a predicament. LOL! Haldir is in a tough situation knowing that they could only hide from the inevitable for so long... Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Morn · 26 September 2012 · Chapter 15

Nice family picture there. SIX children?! At least he seems to be enjoying himself. Must be terrible sitting waiting for the doom you know is coming and can do nothing to prevent. I just realized I never left my review for the last chapter. I enjoyed him putting the Tatyai in his place.

Author's reply

Elves in the Third Age don't have "big" families any more but the early elves were busy trying to populate the planet knowing that there is safety in numbers. Even in Valinor this was the case. I think Haldir has planned and prepared as much as possible for what he knows is coming and is having to just accept that as best he can. But...will it be enough when the history books say otherwise? I'm pleased you enjoyed Haldir putting the Tatyai in their place. You know he enjoyed that immensely. LOL! Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing!

curiouswombat · 26 September 2012 · Chapter 15

Ah - a very good time bridging chapter - we know it has passed, we know what has been happening, and we have moved on to the next phase - well written.

Author's reply

Thank you very much for that :-) There were too many family events to cover adequately with many chapters so this was the best way I could think to move the story along and still clue the reader in on good times that were had by all. :-) Thanks for reading and reviewing!

eiluj · 26 September 2012 · Chapter 15

Lovely portrait of the happy daeradar! So many young children and pregnant ellith. The imminent addition of a large number of refugees ... most likely putting pressure on the food supply. Not to mention Morgoth's creatures. Oh dear. Has anyone called you an evil author yet?

Author's reply

well...when it rains, it pours, right? And there is soemthing else that you didn't factor into the evilness of the equation whose many variables you have laid out and even Haldir won't realise it for a few chapters yet. I won't tell of course, but you will see it soon enough and it will rankle him just as much as the other variavbles if not more so, probably more so. Confused? Wait a couple of chapters or three and then you'll see. Muhwahahahaha You are the first to call me evil for this story. I've been labeled such for other stories and it was probably well-deserved. :-) Thanks for reading and reviewing! Hope you are still speaking to me after this reply :-)

Larner · 26 September 2012 · Chapter 15

Time does move forward, and the attacks coordinated from Morgoth's headquarters will come eventually. At least this people is as protected as it can be for the moment, and all is in motion to do what can be done against the dire wolves and what other creature will accompany and follow them. Love seeing the family life they now know! Stuck until the women come back caring for little ones! Heh!

Author's reply

The good Captain deserves to do some time babysitting. It is good for him - so say mothers everywhere when big tough guys get saddled with the kids. LOL! Haldir has done all he can in preparation. He will find out soon enough if it was enough... Thanks for reading and reviewing!

eliza · 26 September 2012 · Chapter 15

hey ellie, Nice glimpse into Haldirs life. Wow 6 kids!! In any age, that's alot. I feel a bit sad for Haldir though, it must be excruciating knowing that armaggedon is coming and not being able to do any thing about it.

Author's reply

I felt he deserved a few hundred years of joy and it seems to me like he took advantage of the peace and familial bliss :-) It has to be very difficult for him knowing what he does and worst of all now knowing WHEN anything will actually happen nor how much he will live to see happen. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Larner · 20 September 2012 · Chapter 14

A well-handled encounter with the Tatyai, snobbish as they proved themselves. Haldir's skills as a march-warden came into excellent use, and he's let the others realize that these Galadhrim are as sophisticated as they are in their own way. Gilwen has excellent reason to be pleased with her husband.

Author's reply

Haldir has had enough experience in Lorien that he can handle just about anything that crosses his borders - dwarves, evil rings of power, arrogant kin of the Noldor...LOL! I agree that Gilwen has excellent reason to be proud of him. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

galathil · 20 September 2012 · Chapter 14

I wish Haldir and co the best of luck.I find this story very interesting. You have an interesting way of looking at things,I love it. Can,t wait for the next chapter,LOL Galathil.(Hope you can make sense of my review.)

Author's reply

I'm please that you find the story and the perspective interesting. Thank you for enjoying it and telling me so :-) I do admit that the next chapter is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it as well. Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing!

Ellynn · 19 September 2012 · Chapter 14

So, Celos Galen is home. Sounds... bitter-sweet, I'd say. I bet those Noldor were still surprised for a looooong time after the encounter! :D

Author's reply

It is bitter-sweet, but the six at least have the potential for a happiness they never knew in Lorien. I bet those Tatyai were surprised indeed! LOL! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Agape4Gondor · 18 September 2012 · Chapter 14

I may be naive, but I'm glad the road so far has been pleasant. I like these warriors and their wives to have some time of peace. I know it won't last long, but there you are. And it was good to see pre-Noldor *g* put down a peg.

Author's reply

The guys needed and much deserved some down time and to have things go right for a change. Their wives deserved this as well for putting up with Hal and company in their stressed states for so long. I think Haldir had a lot of fun putting that group of Tatyai in their place. Sometimes it can be fun to be the guy in charge...LOL! Thank you so very much for reading and revewing!

eiluj · 12 September 2012 · Chapter 13

Ah: more elves! I'm betting they're Doriathrim. Then again ... well, I've forgotten too much about languages to guess (with any pretension to intelligence) who else they might be. And I've forgotten too much of the history of that period to have any idea how I'd want to structure the plot.... But I do expect them to end up in Doriath at some point. And when they do, I'm looking forward to Melian's reaction.

Author's reply

You'll have to wait and see who the new elves are and whether anyone actually ever gets to go to Doraith. Tolkien said very very little in the way of history for Middle-earth before the Noldor returned, so there is lots of room for creativity and for confusion. There also are precious few "experts" in the fanfic world on the peoples and languages of the elves who stayed behind. Daeron did try to help out with his Cirth, but when everyone lives forever and remembers everything, then why write it down so that distantly future generations can understnad what was going on in the Night before nights? Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Ellynn · 12 September 2012 · Chapter 13

Yay, I am really looking forward to see this encounter. I'm sure it will be very interesting. :)

Author's reply

The encounter will be an educational experience, that's for sure! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Larner · 11 September 2012 · Chapter 13

A wise thing to hope for, all things considered. No. becoming pregnant during such a journey would not be the wisest course.

Author's reply

Pregnancy during a long journey definitely would not be a good idea. LOL! Haldir will have an interesting time when he meets up with these new elves. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Morn · 7 September 2012 · Chapter 12

Was intrigued by the summary for this story and haven't been disappointed. Interesting ideas and well written so far. Poor Haldir- first he is killed off and then he finds himself here! ;) Enjoyong this one. Thanks for writing looking forward to reading the rest.

Author's reply

I'm thrilled that you were intrigued by the summary and haven't been disappointed! Thank you so very much for telling me that! It is true that Haldir has rather been in a lot of "sucks to be him" situations repeatedly, lately, well since Helm's Deep. At least in this most recent chapter it was good to be Haldir for a change. LOL! I hope I continue to please you with the tale I have to tell. Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing!

Larner · 5 September 2012 · Chapter 12

They missed it! Poor brothers--they are next! Heh!

Author's reply

Yeah...the brothers are sooooo next or so they think anyway. It was nice of Haldir to take that great leap into the unknown first, wasn't it? LOL! Thanks for reading and reviewing! Sorry about the late reply to your review. I've been sick.

Agape4Gondor · 5 September 2012 · Chapter 12

Though a very happy day for Haldir and his wife, I cringe at what I envision as their separation when whatever magic returns Haldir and his friends to the 'present.' I could be wrong... Shees! But I'm happy for them.

Author's reply

Sorry for the late reply. I've been sick. Fortuantely for Haldir he doesn't know what the future brings other than the destruction of Beleriand. And since he is clueless as to when the sun and moon will even show up, there is no telling for him as to when that clock will start ticking down the years to the end of the First Age - in his mind anyway. He deserves the happiness he can find now at least. I'm plaased you are happy for him, too. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Agape4Gondor · 31 August 2012 · Chapter 11

Giggle. Fun chapter. Poor Haldir. I loved the first few lines. I was rolling on the floor. Nice to have a not so serious chapter to read. Keep 'em coming. This story is great.

Author's reply

Thank you very very much! And I am so glad I made you laugh :-) Thanks for reading, giggling, and reviewing!
