Fimbrethel · 17 October 2025 · Chapter 9: Faramir
Oh! I don't think he did ever actually prove his quality before she agreed. Well, plenty of time later, if Stewarding for the King did not prove himself enough.

Oh! I don't think he did ever actually prove his quality before she agreed. Well, plenty of time later, if Stewarding for the King did not prove himself enough.
Fimbrethel · 17 October 2025 · Chapter 8: Imrahil
This is one of the reasons I like Imrahil.
Fimbrethel · 17 October 2025 · Chapter 7: Éowyn/Éomer
That conversation. Éomer learns his lesson. Though to be fair she did have reason to stay. Once she meets Faramir though...
Fimbrethel · 17 October 2025 · Chapter 6: Théoden
Oh yes, I suppose he would miss his son as much as Denethor missed Boromir. (After I started writing that I remembered the movie where obviously he does:). Now he can go meet Théodred happily and tell of his rise and the downfall of Wormtongue.
Armariel · 1 July 2011 · Chapter 9: Faramir
An excellent series. I think I like this one best of all.
Author's reply
Hello Armariel, thanks very much! This series was a bit more difficult than the others because I haven't worked with the characters contained herein as much as I have with others (hobbit fan that I am), but it turned out not too bad, I hope! Also, if I haven't done so already, let me offer you my humble thanks for nominating the 'Ringbearer' series of drabbles. Honestly, I'm truly, truly chuffed to bits that you think it so worthy! Thanks for R & R-ing, M :)
Larner · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 9: Faramir
Three distinctly different loves--two he's always honored, and one newly found. This has been a wonderful series, and I'm glad to have been able to finally read and review! Excellent!
Author's reply
Hello again, m'dear, and a new king (and good friend) to boot! Life is definitely looking up for my favourite Steward - and just as well, given all the bad luck he had during the war. I'm really pleased you found the drabbles so entertaining, and thank you very much for R & R-ing, M ;)
Larner · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 8: Imrahil
Yes, Imrahil's reasoning is very sound. And they will stand, fight--and WIN!
Author's reply
Hello Larner, and what a win it will be! At least Imrahil's pep-talk put Pippin back in the mood for a fight! Not that I condone violence, of course ... Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Larner · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 7: Éowyn/Éomer
She does have a point. Yet even in rebellion she managed to do the right thing in the end.
Author's reply
Hello Larner, thank you for reviewing this particular drabble. I was beginning to wonder if I'd messed these two characters up big time, though it was difficult to be sure without feedback. So thanks again for R & R-ing, M ;)
Larner · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 6: Théoden
It is sometimes easy to forget that he has indeed lost his son. But today he does that son and his honored forebears proud.
Author's reply
Hello Larner, at least he died happy, so to speak. But I still miss him ... Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Larner · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 5: Treebeard
Oh, yes, one roots out weeds when they threaten the flowers. And he's the one to do it! And indeed, the proper time at last to be hasty. We do love our Treebeard!
Author's reply
Hello Larner, yep, we do indeed love our Treebeard - especially when he's hasty (though he's a bit alarming when that happens - thank goodness it's not very often)! Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Larner · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 4: Galadriel/Celeborn
No, perhaps NOT jealous--but, still? Heh! Yes, must she encourage him? And Gimli would be shocked, I'm certain, to find this great Elf lord referred to him as "honey tongued"! Lovely!
Author's reply
Hello Larner, I wonder if Gimli;s ears were burning as he sailed down the Anduin? Probably only his right one though ... (right for spite; left for love)? Not that the noble Celeborn is spiteful - but maybe just a little more green-eyed monster than he would care to admit to himself ..? *chuckles* Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Larner · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 3: Elrond/Glorfindel
The right people (and horse) there at just the right time. Excellently done!
Author's reply
Hello Larner, a big round of applause to all three for their timeous intervention, methinks :o) Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Larner · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 2: Barliman Butterbur
Oh, I can appreciate why he feels upset with himself, although he will soon know an upturn in his luck. Yes, things would definitely gone better had he sent that letter in a proper timeframe, but in reality the right time has come now for them all to do what must be done. Have always loved Butterbur.
Author's reply
Hello Larner, I imagine seven years of blessings on his ale more than made up for any coinage lost reimbursing the hobbits - although Barliman has nothing to blame that on but his own good nature! Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Larner · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 1: Tom Bombadil
Aha! Frodo's memory at least is excellent, and he's called for the ally he needs at the moment. Love seeing this from Tom's point of view.
Author's reply
Hello Larner, poor Frodo - given all the trouble his excellent memory will cause him post-Quest, it might not be such a good thing to have one - although it did come in handy to call old Tom! Glad you enjoyed & thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Antane · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 9: Faramir
The war cost him much but he would not have gained so much either. Sweet glimpse into my favorite man. :)
Author's reply
Hello again, m;dear, Faramir did lose a lot in the war, but it's nice to know that he gained as much - may more back than he lost when the war ended. If any man deserved to be happy, it was definitely dear Faramir! Glad you enjoyed it, cheeky lass! Cousin Mo ;)
Antane · 28 June 2011 · Chapter 8: Imrahil
Imrahil's reasoning certainly makes sense. They show the reality of Frodo's imprisonment but past not present. Love Pippin's words at the end. Namarie, God bless, Your bloom :)
Author's reply
Hello Tooky bloom, I like to think Imrahil was a logical chap. I like to think it because someone had to be. Gandalf and the others had to stifle their dismay when they saw Frod and Sam's belongings the the hands of the Messenger - I think they were too occupied with trying not to reveal anything else to the Mouth of Sauron to offer Pippin the comfort of their thoughts (if they took any comfort in their thoughts at that testing time). Good old Imrahil the Fair, stepping up to the plate when the wee fellow needed it most! Thanks for R & R-ing, cousin, McMo.
Andrea · 27 June 2011 · Chapter 9: Faramir
And once again: wonderful drabbles, all of them! But the one I liked most was about Celeborn who was jealous of a dwarf - not a "mere" dwarf though, but Gimli Gloins son who is a force to be reckoned with ;-)
Author's reply
Hello Andrea, I'm delighted you enjoyed them - and most particularly that you liked Celeborn's. We so rarely get a glimpse of these mighty and elegant elves being 'human' - with that I mean his slight (ahem) jealousy at Galadriel favouring Gimli as she did. Or should I say encouraging Gimli as she did ..? *chuckles* Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
shirebound · 26 June 2011 · Chapter 8: Imrahil
Ohhh, I *love* this conversation! How wonderful.
Author's reply
Hello shirebound, excellent! So glad to hear it :) There's not very much on Imrahil in the books, so this drabble was purely guesswork, though I think it's probably safe to assume he was a strong man with a good head on his shoulders (I suppose he'd have to be to keep Belfalas safe from the continually marauding Corsairs). He was (in this drabble) the voice of reason at the Black Gate for Pippin, who was probably imagining Frodo in all sorts of trouble after seeing those tokens the Mouth of Sauron was bandying about so breezily. Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
eiluj · 25 June 2011 · Chapter 6: Théoden
And reunite him with his son. Insightful.
Author's reply
Hello eiluj, whatever the outcome, it was a win-win scenario for Théoden that day - something that can't be said for many on the Pelennor! Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
Antane · 25 June 2011 · Chapter 6: Théoden
I hadn't thought of that before - death would be welcome because then he would be with Theodred again - and his wife and sister. It is so stirring to see this in the film, the great courage of these men. Namarie, God bless, Your bloom who enjoyed Treebeard knowing what to do with weeds too. :)
Author's reply
Hello Antane, yes. Théoden was strong and courageous - he and all his men. And he didn't have much to lose that day whether he lived or died, as the drabble tries to explain. Glad you enjoyed this (and Treebeard's outing, too) and thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
eiluj · 24 June 2011 · Chapter 5: Treebeard
It was time to be hasty! And that willingness to work outside the box is what made Treebeard a leader.
Author's reply
Hello eiluj, amen to that! And what a leader he was - I almost feel sorry for Saruman. Almost, but not quite ... Thanks for R & R-ing, M .)
Antane · 24 June 2011 · Chapter 3: Elrond/Glorfindel
Thank God for them both! And for Frodo's own grace-filled resistance to the shard. Sweet story here. Namarie, God bless, Your berry :)
Author's reply
Hello berry, thanks indeed to them all for playing their parts. And to you for R & R-ing, M ;)
Antane · 24 June 2011 · Chapter 2: Barliman Butterbur
Poor Barliman. Perhaps things would have been different if he had sent the letter or perhaps not. No need to excuse yourself, my dear, for putting him here. I liked that you did. :) Namarie, God bless, Your bloom :)
Author's reply
Hello bloomin' marvellous, (get it? bloomin' marvellous? Ahem) dear old Barliman! He would be honoured that you think his small efforts worthy of a drabble, as I am honoutred that you R & R-ed. Thanks, m'dear, Cousin Mo x
eliza61 · 24 June 2011 · Chapter 4: Galadriel/Celeborn
** giggles quietly*** Good for you Galadriel, never hurts the keep the husband on his toes. Remind him that even after a few millenium of marriage, you can still turn a head or two.... Thanks for writing such a nice interlude.
Author's reply
Hello eliza61, I so agree. Can't have Celeborn getting too complacent just because he's married to the beauteous Galadriel - otherwise any old dwarf could come and snatch her away ... *cackles wildly* Thanks for R & R-ing, Kara's Aunty ;)
Armariel · 23 June 2011 · Chapter 4: Galadriel/Celeborn
LOL--jealous of a dwarf! Very cute!!! ~~~~~{~@
Author's reply
Hello Armariel, *sniggers* I know, it is a bit hilarious to think of Celeborn being jealous of Gimli, though methinks he was probably secure enough of the place he held in his wife's affections not to feel remotely threatened by Gimli's blatant admiration of Galadriel. Still, I've often wondered if Gimli's obvious affection for his wife (and Galadriel's response to it) didn't perhaps rile the mighty elf lord - even if it was just a wee bit! Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
