It's definetely a good thing Thranduil arrived the day AFTER the lance incident. He's going to be upset enough as it is...but to actually witness it? He'd be...peeved. To put it in the most mildly possible of words. And it wouldn't do for the Elven king to start knocking heads around would it? Thought it appears that will be happening rather soon anyway...WOOHOO!!! Thrandy action! YES!!! *hugs author* I loved you before but now...*squeals*

Lamiel · 23 February 2004 · Chapter 26: Good News

So what does one do the morning after a grievous injury that would be near fatal to any mortal? Why, if one is an Elven prince, bounce your companions from their beds and give Tom Bombadil a run for his money in poetry composition. Oh, this was so much fun! I was grinning all the way through, just in the afterglow from Legolas' antics. Hee hee! And I am so, so looking forward to Thranduil's arrival. I do love that Elven king. Still find it a little hard to believe that he'd really approve of Legolas taking part in the tournament, but ah well. H'm, looks like Egalmoth suspects something, doesn't he? Really he's getting more suspicious by the chapter. In any case Thranduil should spark things up again. I suspect that he'll make the conspirators very nervous, and likely they'll strike again soon. I can't wait! Lamiel P.S. Need I say that the description of the early dawn, with the stars and the cold breeze and the frigid water, even to the detail of the morning doves in the wall, was just beautifully done. Such lovely, lovely writing.

Coriel · 23 February 2004 · Chapter 26: Good News

Good to see Legolas up and about so completely already! Gimli sounds a lot like my sister, as far as getting out of bed is concerned. . . Yay! Thranduil's coming! So far he sounds great. Time presses, but next week promises to be a good one. :)

fliewatuet · 23 February 2004 · Chapter 26: Good News

Sorry for forgetting to review the last chapter. But this one was just hilarious, wonderful, intriguing? The description of that early morning at Osgiliath was wonderful. Though I am not really a morning person myself, I could well believe why Faramir and Arwen were out there, enjoying the crisp air and watching the stars fade. Legolas early-morning tantrum (or whatever that was) was just hilarious. A nice illustration of what the 'merrymaking' of the Elves could look (and feel like). At that moment, when he was dancing and singing and annoying his companions, he really appeared like the Elf he is, strange and unpredictable. I loved that bit, though I did sympathize with Gimli. Poor Dwarf could not have his wits intact at that hour! Elessar's councilors are still intriguing. Egalmoth's remark about Legolas being no longer there to assist them in preparing a welcome reception for King Thranduil left the impression that Egalmoth knows quite a bit about Legolas' role in the entire affair. And I wondered whence he knew that Thranduil had five hundred of his people with him. Faramir did not mention it, as far as I recall. Though I gran Egalmoth and Eradan the right to be more than a little peeved about King and Steward leaving them in the dark, I like them less and less, Egalmoth in particular. But now I have a week looking forward to Thranduil's grand entrance as I am sure he will leave quite an impression on the people gathered for the tournament.

Tinnuial · 22 February 2004 · Chapter 26: Good News

What an absolutely delightful chapter!!! I can just picture Legolas dancing about the tent with Bandy... And the imagery of the wind and the stars heralding the King's arrival was perfect too!!! I loved how Bandy figured out the riddle before Gimli!!...Hobbits love riddles after all... :) Thank you for another excellent chapter....

Saber · 21 February 2004 · Chapter 25: The Healer's Tent

Just a quick note to let you know that I haven't died, I'm still reading, I just about squealed with pleasure at Legolas getting slammed, and I have no time for the comments I would like to be leaving. Must run...keep up the fantastic work!

Caddy de La Bris · 16 February 2004 · Chapter 25: The Healer's Tent

Dear Le Rouret! Nice chapter again! I am trying to guess who is the traitor but it is not so easy. As you say in German - my mother language - you have to think about three corners. And where is Aragorn? And you are right, the speech of Bandy is more like the Hobbits in The Little Hobbit than in the Lord Of The Rings. Unfortunately I made the "mistake" to read the Lord Of The Rings before The Litte Hobbit. And therefore - in my opinion - this tale was lost for me. And I am wondering whether Thranduil will enter the scene?! Hope to read you soon again. Have a nice week. Caddy

Coriel · 16 February 2004 · Chapter 25: The Healer's Tent

Whew, I'm glad to see him on the road to recovery so quickly. Again, the whole cast performed wonderfully, but I feel for poor Arwen who doubtless got the full force of the ordeal on her hand so Legolas wouldn't have to crush Bandy's. How like him to think of just going on with business as usual the next day. I hope he gets a long night's sleep to start a decent healing process. Let an Elf alone for a while and he can do some amazing things. And of course having them all doze off there at the end was just adorable. :)

Lamiel · 15 February 2004 · Chapter 25: The Healer's Tent

Oh, this is so sweet! Not the injuries, of course, but Bandobras' "help" was so darling -- and Legolas was so controlled, not to injure him when Gimli pulled out those shards. And such a perfect reaction: Legolas gripping Arwen's hands so hard he leaves bruises, but otherwise doesn't cry out or shift at all. Wonderful! And of course the ending, with everyone falling asleep together in front of the fire is lovely. I'm rather doubtful that Gimli would really let Legolas joust with injuries like that, but I guess Elven healing has its advantages. Anyway, a wonderful chapter (with more gratuitous food description -- I've eaten dinner and I'm a vegetarian, but I'm still salivating). And a speedy update too! Thank you! Lamiel

Caddy de La Bris · 13 February 2004 · Chapter 24: Sorcery on the Lists

Dear Le Rouret, What a nice story! Good it be that you are inspired through Lord Of The Rings and A Knight's Tale? For me the most funniest thing was that Eowyn and Arwen recognized Legolas much more earlier than Faramir and Arwen. Longing for your next chapter. Have a nice weekend. Kind regards, Caddy

fliewatuet · 12 February 2004 · Chapter 24: Sorcery on the Lists

Another wonderful chapter, but I had expected nothing less. Though I fear that the Green Knight suffers from more than a mere scratch at the moment, and, even worth, Herion is dead and his horse will follow soon. At least Hatchet remained unscathed as it seems. But what devilry was this? Apparently someone has prepared Herion's lance with the same substance Saruman used to breach the wall of Helm's Deep. And in order to prepare that lance, Herion's own lance had to be stolen so that he would have to take one from the stock that would be easier to reach. The question that remains (well, one of several questions) is whether the other knights that have been robbed of their weapons were equipped with similarly prepared lances as well or if that part of the theft served only as a ruse. The next question is to what degree Belecthor was involved in that affair, it was his stock of lances after all. But he seems genuinly upset about the involvement of men under his command in the attack on Bandy and the theft of the weapons, so that I tend to hold him innocent after all. Egalmoth and Eradan, on the other hand, are another matter entirely. Though Eradan seemed less offended by Faramir's refusal to let them read Aragorn's letter and at least speaks openly about proving himself worthy. The part that left me laughing out loud, however, was Elessar's letter. In spite of his obvious haste, he still had to add his entire lineage and rank to that letter (at least he omitted Thorongil, wingfoot and Estel).:P fliewatuet

Skittles · 11 February 2004 · Chapter 24: Sorcery on the Lists

Nasssty cliffhanger! We hatesss it. But oh how we lovesss it! Absolutely brilliant. As I've already told you, I love your work. You are amazing. But please, you have to update quickly, if only for my own sanity. How could you leave us all hanging like that? tsk tsk very nasty...hehe Can't wait for the next bit :-)

Morrigan · 10 February 2004 · Chapter 24: Sorcery on the Lists

Your story is great!!! Very original, well writen, highly detailed.. very rich indeed. It is so easy to imagine everything you write. But I like it so much I always read the chapters two or three times each monday!! Most of fanfics you see around the net are real garbage. Girls dropping on Middle-Earth or slash or sadist fics with "plots"(if you can call that) whose sole purpose are to describe the characters being grostesquely tortured and raped. Stories like yours are really rare but they are so good that makes the effort of searching worth it. Finding a diamond makes the effort of digging through the mine of coal more than worth. I have only one complain... in the beginning you updated two or three times per week, now just once. Ai, cant you please update at least twice a week??? The wait is always terrible!!

Coriel · 9 February 2004 · Chapter 24: Sorcery on the Lists

Ai! My heart goes out to poor Legolas! If his hasn't already gone "out" as well; yikes, you made me jumpy for the next thirty minutes! Certainly the last thing on my mind was a research paper. But anyway, all hopes and fears aside, let's go about this in an orderly fashion: Again, I'm very impressed by your detail on all accounts. This is a story I can see very vividly, thanks to all your by-the-way description, the icing on the cake. Bandy's memory of the Spring Festival was lovely, and just as endearing as everything else that comes out of his mouth! Save smoke, that is. Kudos to Legolas for keeping Hildaf off it; "I would not recommend it," could qualify for the understatement of the week. ;) Oh, and yes, I could see Legolas with a spatula just as easily as a bow! And Bandy's devoted affection is so CUTE!!! I definately have a targeting cross painted on Elgamoth's face now. If nothing else, he just gives me the creeps right off the page. I knew something had to happen; my "emergency-cliffhanger" radar was sounding loud and clear even before Faramir had his 'premonition'. But cripes! Explosive lances?! Someone is really going all-out, and needless to say I am very worried about Legolas at this point. I present only two fanfic regulations here: (1) Don't kill him; (2) no permanant crippling damage, please! Poor guy. I know this next week will crawl past in a suffocating cloud of note-taking and grammarizing, and assigned reading. How will we survive until Monday?!?! ;)

Lamiel · 9 February 2004 · Chapter 24: Sorcery on the Lists

Oh wow! I was expecting some sort of trickery, but never this! Oh, oh, looks like Legolas' disguise is going to be lost after all, and the goat will have to give way to the lion sooner than they thought. So, someone stole the knights' weapons knowing that they would have to borrow them from the ceremonies' master, which were sabotaged? But then, did all the weapons have bombs planted in them (or whatever it was)? How else would the person know which weapon would go to the knight matched against Lasgalen (I'm giving Belecthor the benefit of the doubt here). But then any other knight might have been hurt, not just Lasgalen and the Blue Knight. Although I suppose they could know the order from the lists, but then why steal the other knights' weapons and risk the wrong one getting the sabotaged lance? Ah, I'll trust everything will be made clear in time. Beautiful description and lovely writing, as always. The opening, describing that feast, made me hungry! I must remember not to read this before lunch. And Aragorn's letter made me smile. If he's going to be writing in haste, he needs fewer names. With a cliff-hanger like that, please, please update soon! Lamiel

Saber · 2 February 2004 · Chapter 23: One Traitor Discovered

Oooo...so the Stweard arrives and the mysterious 'Captain' remains a mystery. *slaps Faramir* Honestly! Is no one capable of keeping their mouths shut anymore? *sigh* Hmm...so Aragorn has gone AWOL? Sweet...

Coriel · 2 February 2004 · Chapter 23: One Traitor Discovered

Again, wonderful, wonderful! I used to hate Mondays, but you've managed to brighten them considerably. ;D Aaa! Hi, Faramir! How like Legolas to be uncomfortable with praise, and how like Bandy to be horrified that dinner was ruined! I agree, it's high time that endearing little hobbit was pampered a bit, especially after his courageous trial before. (Gimli's disciplinarian attitude reminds me of my sister with our little brother.) The plot continues to thicken, and it seems getting through the Tournament unharmed will be only the first of their worries. Kudos to you again for a great story! ;)

fliewatuet · 2 February 2004 · Chapter 23: One Traitor Discovered

Leave it to Bandobras to chastise himself for not being able to prepare his masters dinner due to his captivity. And then he thinks of the celebrations as unnecessary fuss. But that makes him even more likeable. He is a Hobbit through and through. He has been hardly freed and already he starts to chatter about this and that and worries about dinner :-) At least some troublemakers have been identified, though they will no longer answer to any questions. And then there are still those strangers in the Druadan Vale. I wonder what will be reveiled during the dinner at Faramir's mansion and what King Elessar's messenger will report (if he arrives in time). Until next monday;) fliewatuet

Lamiel · 2 February 2004 · Chapter 23: One Traitor Discovered

Ah, it does my inner fangirl good to see Legolas hailed for defeating that entire band by himself. And Bandobras is absolutely wonderful - his distress over not having made dinner, when he was captured and beaten and nearly killed . . . oh, that made me laugh. The pieces are moving in earnest now, and I eagerly await the campaign down the river. Yet I rather suspect that the enemies will reveal themselves before then, and we'll have a truly grand conclusion to this tournament. Although at the rate we're going, by the time the Green Knight is unmasked there won't be many people left in the crowd to be surprised. ;)

technetium · 27 January 2004 · Chapter 22: The Scourge of Orome

I'm sorry I haven't left a review before, but I've just been to eager to find out what happens next to stop reading. This fic is outstanding ! Your characterization is excellent, and I like how you flesh out the personalities of the characters. I liked how Eowyn was the first to figure out the green knight was Legolas, although I flinch at the idea of a pregnant woman drinking alcohol, even though it is historically correct as they wouldn't have known the dangers associated with that in that type of culture. Bandy is a very cute, likeable little Hobbit. The story itself is interesting and well-paced. Even without any type of knowledge of tournaments and jousting aside from watching 'A Knight's Tale' I can still follow what's going on in the matches. I'm looking forward to reading more of this adventure.

Saber · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 22: The Scourge of Orome

Dummy, put your helmet back on!!!! Do you want the whole world to know who you are??? Don't answer that... *runs to Legolas and shoves his helm over his head* *runs back* *blinks* Oiy Valar! *slaps forehead* It's backwards! *runs up to him again, rips helm off, carefully turns it 180 degrees, and shoves it back down* *runs back panting* THERE! Now you can whip the tail this 'Captain' fellow.

calenore · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 22: The Scourge of Orome

Ha! Show them to mess with a hobbit and his elf! Bandy is so brave... :-D :-D Legolas is brave too, of course, but it isn't as cute as Bandy being brave. It's sweet how devoted they are too each other. I love Bandy. Can I have him when you're done writing about him???? ;)

Coriel · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 22: The Scourge of Orome

Sheesh, be given a gripping chapter like than and then no uninterrupted time to read it! I must have had to come back five times. Anyway ~ Frantic!Legolas to the rescue! I knew Bandy could count on him. But it rang so true that he was not so much courageous as he was scared to death, and the following scene amid the aftermath was touching, to say the very least. I was not surprised that Legolas was in no mood then for Gimli's banter, and said so, showing a sober and shaken side of him. Just perfect. What a great bunch of knights those were! It seems Legolas will never truly lack friends when he needs them. These traitor/corsair-types underestimated him once, and I think it may safely be said that they have not yet fully grasped just what kind of trouble they are asking for in provoking Elessar, Faramir, Legolas, AND Thranduil. In short, another absolutely brilliant chapter, still one of the best fanfics I've read. Starting to like cliff-hangers, are we? :)

fliewatuet · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 22: The Scourge of Orome

Bandy was wonderful, as ever. He showed courage and determination inspite of his fears and the threats and blows of his captors. Though Legolas could not have timed his arrival any better. But I fear that our heroes are none the wiser as far as the identity of their opponent(s) is concerned, and Legolas in his wrath left none to question. And the knowledge about his identity spreads, though I would have trusted those knights as well, since they followed him without a second thought. But I seem to be not the only one to mistrust Elessar's councilors. BTW I am so enraptured by your story that I failed to notice that you usually update on Mondays (if that is what you mean by 'Monday is Green Knight day'). So I do have to wait for next Monday to find out who those mysterious riders are? There's not much choice. Its either Faramir and his men or the captain of those that took Bandy captive. So next Monday will reveal more? I am waiting;-) fliewatuet

Lamiel · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 22: The Scourge of Orome

Oh, that was wonderful! The way Legolas came charging into the clearing, and the speed with which he defeated them all was just as I had hoped for. But his reaction afterward was the very best of all, crying over the Hobbit, and Bandobras choking out "I can't breathe!" Sweet and powerful and moving and funny too. Magnificently done. These knights are indeed exemplary models of the breed, but I wonder if everyone will be so understanding when Legolas is revealed at last. Wonderful work, as always. Thank you! Lamiel
