Well that was interesting - and I love what Nolofinwë managed to do. Obviously some of the memories are still there - but he does truly believe that Arafinwë is the Noldóran. His acting the child was a good move and hopefully will settle matters. I just hope they get the wedding presents sorted.
Now to see how Arafinwë reacts. I have to admit now that IDB is finished I am wishing this story would come faster as I am missing my Monday & Friday fix from you. I came here on Monday automatically just before I have my first teaching of the day (university lecturer in UK) forgetting that there would not be a new chapter from you.
Still loving this story and waiting to see how it all pans out in the end.
Author's reply
Hi Arwen. I'm sure you're not the only one wishing this story would come faster to fill in the empty Mondays and Fridays, but I'm keeping to the original posting schedule. That way by the time this story is done, I may be ready to post the next new story which I'm working on now. So, hang in there, sit back and enjoy this story to its fullest. It'll be mid-January before it's completely told anyway. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

And another crisis. What were the Valar thinking springing these 3 Reborn on Arafinwe and co at this time. Having a bunch of Reborn together is a volatile mix. Something is bound to happen. I don't think there are enough minders around to keep them all out of trouble. On top of that some of the minders are also Reborn, although they seem by now to have a better handle on themselves.
Author's reply
Hi obsidianj. I'm sure the Valar think they know what they are doing and we will actually learn what is behind the release of these particular Reborn in a later chapter. In the meantime, there's a lot of damage control involved in dealing with any Reborn. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.

As usual, your story keeps getting better. I particularly like the chapter headings in this one. Oddly enough, they remind me of some of Leslie Charteris' early Saint books - he used entertaining chapter headings too.
I look forward to Wednesdays a great deal these days - please don't miss any weeks lest I go into withdrawal . I look forward to finding out what all trouble the rest of the shoppers got into.
Author's reply
Hi Rick. I had a lot of fun coming up with the titles, many of which are rather tongue-in-cheek. *grin* I have no intention of missing any weeks, so no fear of going into withdrawal any time soon. I'm glad you are enjoying this story. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

· Chapter 13: In Which the Reborn are Bored and a Tavern Gets Trashed
I spent an entertaining afternoon to catch up on this story. I just had to comment on this chapter before reading on.
The title tells it all. Reborns getting bored and a Tavern gets trashed. After just having finished IDB, now reading about Ingalaure as Reborn on the emotional level of an elfling is a bit jarring. But he and Intarion (I had forgotten that he died also) are cute. Although they were not nice to Glorfindel. I hope he doesn't get into too much trouble for leaving them alone. But after the episode in the kitchen fight it was probably too much to ask for him to have the foresight to see the danger of two recently Reborn left alone.
These gossip mongers need to watch what they are saying and where. It was decidedly stupid to do it in front of the 2 princes. Although, they probably had no idea who these two were. I loved the cleanup of the Maia. They just left enough evidence...Wouldn't it be nice to have some Maia around?
Author's reply
Hi obsidianj. The title certainly does tell all, doesn't it. *grin* And I imagine it is a bit disconcerting to read of Ingalaure's death one week and then see him alive and well and Reborn the next. And the gossipmongers wouldn't recognize the princes for who they are, so it would never occur to them to watch their words. But you are right, that it would be nice to have some Maiar around. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Isuppose it is not easy for Aracano being the youngest. But if he has so much better taste than his brother and father, I am surprised he wasn't picked first! ;-) I suppose he was replaying his death there in the pottery shop. Not fun, I would think - neither for him or his two "minders"!
A nice and quiet chapter - it seems that the real drama with the shopping trip centers around Nolofinwë. I wonder if Tirion will still be standing when whatever-it-is is over. ;-)
And how is Glorfindel going to cope with three newly reborn and drama happening in the vicinity?
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. No, it's not easy for Aracáno on many levels. And the drama, as you will see, will indeed center around Nolofinwë though it won't be his fault. And we'll see how they all cope soon enough. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

The candle holder sounds lovely but what a memory to recall, poor Aracano! I am glad that Glorfindel and Laurendil were able to help him, I think I would want to go home too and I would want my Amme!
Well that is two of the newly Re-born's gifts taken care of now to find out just what Ingwion, Ingalure and Intarion have been up to or not, maybe they are not the cause of the trouble!

*yawns* Good morning, Atto. Happy Wednesday. (Although it's not quite 7 AM and I'm *tired*, but we do have to be out of here by 10, so I got up just to read "Wedding"!)
I wasn't disappointed either. This chapter was action-packed, amusing and sad all rolled into one, but if it wasn't, it wouldn't be what I expect from you, Atya. *grin* So I'm glad it was.
I wept for Aracano when he remembered drowning with Elenwe, and I cheered (silently, my Naneth's still sleeping...I think) when they found the bowl with Arafinwe's coronation on it. That's the perfect gift, I love it, I love it.
Now...what are our other Reborn up to? I'll wait until next week to find out, Atto.

Well, Atya, it's just a couple of days until Wednesday now, so I'm looking forward to seeing what our Reborn will be up to and how the shopping trip goes! I wonder what will be discussed with the queens, too. This whole chapter was very amusing, particularly Sador's grumbling about wishing he could shop for his own gift, lol!
*hugs* I hope you will have a Happy Thanksgiving. I'm going to my sister's, so I'll have to read Wedding on my Nook and probably won't be able to review until we get back. We're going to be gone until Saturday morning at least, so that goes for the next chapter of IDB too...definitely looking forward to the chapters though!

They are all well enough experienced with Reborn Elves to know SOMETHING is likely to happen, and that there's little point in trying to avoid it forever. How better to learn how these Reborn are likely to react to new situations than to get the first situations over with? Heh!
Author's reply
Very true, Larner, and I think that's how Arafinwë feels about it. Best get it over with so they can move on. We'll see just what kind of trouble (if any) these new Reborn find themselves in in the next couple of chapters. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

I just adore your Namo, I always have and every time he shows up in a story I love him even more. His comment that he had no idea that Vaire even knew some of the terms she used to describe the wedding garment of Finrod was totally precious.
So, a wedding in two days, at least five newly-housed elves of varying ranks ready to be as changeable as the wind, and the usual tensions of a wedding - hell. It's not a wedding...it's a powder keg. Call Olorin - have him make fireworks from all of this pending explosive energy :-)

Well Castamir has had to put his foot down, again! I Think Almariel needs a long stay in Lorion, these issues she has with Finderato need to be addressed and soon, otherwise she will have no kind of relationship with Amarie and Finderato after the wedding!
The meeting with Arafinwe's brother and his sone went very well, I am with Finrod though with the idea of letting six Re-born and three of them very recent Re-born loose on Tirion.I wonder if Arafinwe can get Re-born insurance, I am sure the All Aman Insurance Company has some kind of plan for it!?
Now to find out just what is bothering Beleg.

Let's hope third time is the charm and this posts, other wise I will P.M. you with it!

Hi Lynda. I think you're right about Almáriel needing time in Lórien but I have the feeling Irmo isn't happy with that idea. *grin*
Reborn Insurance.... now there's a thought. Unless the All Aman Insurance Company decides Reborn are acts of Eru and won't pay out. LOL!

· Chapter 24: In Which Finrod Tells of His Dream and Some Go Shopping
Considering what happened during the night, it is no wonder everybody is waiting eagerly to hear about Finrods dream. And quite a dream it was, too! Obviously Almáriel did not care to hear the description of herself turning into a werewolf, and (inevitably) started to scream at Finrod for that, but what can you really expect? When you are dreaming, your controls are off-line and your subconscious comes out to play. And it was rather amusing how Vairë and her people restored the sewing room with one glaring exception: the wedding garb. I suspect only Almáriel likes that particular color combination!
Arafinwë's previous experience with Reborn is quite obvious in his meeting with his brother and nephews. There are no doubt going to be upsets, but those should be survivable. though I find I am wondering about the "bad thing" feels is going to happen during that shopping trip.
And shopping trips can be ... interesting. At least in literature. One truly epic example is Cordelias shopping trip in _Barrayar_, by Lois McMaster Bujold, who is one of my favorite authors. And Aral's reaction to the severed head rolling out of the shopping bag was perfect. :-D Let us just hope nothing like that is on the list of possible gifts for the wedding and begetting day. ;-)
I think that the Reborn in Tirion are approaching critical mass now. Better take cover and wait for the inevitable blowups to happen and the fallout to settle - maybe with a few bottles of wine or (even better) some chocolate. ;-)
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. Arafinwë is becoming an old hand in dealing with Reborn. As for the shopping trip... we'll just have to wait and see. And I like the idea of stocking up on wine AND chocolate. LOL! Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

· Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup
It seems that stupidity is contagious in the royal kitchen. You are not messing with the haryon. It can be argued that an eagle is not in a habit of catching flies e. i it would be beneath Finrod to retaliate, but he has a father, who could feel need to protect his cub. To paraphrase the words of a classic: If stupidity would be able to provide buoyancy, half of the kitchen staff would be flying like doves.
I am not surprise that they have a bland potato soup if they are in the habit to server it immediately. Proper potato soup with dry mushrooms (fresh mushrooms are not aromatic enough), dark roux adding some colour, light roux adding texture, onion, a bit of garlic, carrot, parsley, cereliac, lovage, caraway seeds and lot of marjoram is not bland. But in must be prepared a day earlier (like goulash or tarator) to have time to mature.

Holy Sweet Namo in a pink tutu!!!
When you say you're going to deal w/the Wedding Outfit this week, you weren't kidding!! Only thing missing was graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate, along w/some Mint Hot Chocolate to really liven things up.
Oh, I'm sorry...That was *already* happening, wasn't it? ;o)
WOW and I mean WOW!! Just...I'm speechless right now.
I've had bad flashback dreams myself thanks to two Kidney Transplants, one that didn't work and what happened to save the second, that left their marks and waking up in a soaking sweat thinking you're still back there when you're not...Poor Finrod!! Does Namo need any help w/the little arsonist? *snortsnicker*
Sorry, but that had me snickering. Anyway...Poor thing needs a huge hug right now. As well as a cask of Dorwinion to celebrate the Death of the Wedding Garb.
Oh, come on...Of *course* that's going to be celebrated among Finrod, Glorfy and the others once some time has passed. We *all* know that. ;o)
When Castamir told Almariel to oh so very formally and properly shut the Mandos up *and* in front of everyone that's important? I wanted to cheer. Good for him and he's right. She's the reason Amarie's missing and also for this little episode that just took place as well. Glorfy's dead on target w/that.
Which makes what's about to happen oh so very interesting. Why do I have a funny feeling a certain Mother of the Bride is about to be given a Valar Smackdown? Hmmmm? Any hints there oh Mellon nin...Hmmmm!?!
Can't blame me for trying. Can't *wait* for next Wednesday!!! :oD
Author's reply
Hi Tigger. I have no doubt there will be some kind of celebration and a cask or two of Dorwinion should help. *grin*
Castamir speaking up as he did was unexpected because he's considered more laid-back, but anyone who's read "Elf, Interrupted" knows that there's more to the ellon than meets the eye. Almáriel may think she runs the roost, but Castamir is the real boss.
And a Valar smackdown.... LOL! That would be a sight, wouldn't it? At any rate, without giving anything away, I can tell you that Námo will still be there when Finrod wakes up and we'll see how our little arsonist handles the knowledge that his crazy dream was more real than he suspected.

I'm with Glorfy, it's all Almariel's fault!
I am not surprised that Finrod had a nightmare, the thought of having to go out in public in that, that, I am not sure what to call it, let alone wearing it in front of his gwyder would give any one a nightmare.
We all know who Almariel will blame. I am pleased to see that Castamir knows when to put his foot down, I wonder if he had any idea of the colours his wife picked out but I expect he kept as far away from the wedding planning as he could.
I hope the other garments in the work room are salvageable or we are going to have some very unhappy people in Tirion.
Almariel really needs to get her spite under control or she will find that her daughter will be having as little to do with her as possible, even when the elflings start arriving!
This was more than a little exciting and also very satisfactory, couldn't have happened to a better set of clothes!

Almariel's a werewolf now? *snicker* Well, dreams are odd things...Glad the hated wedding garb is finally gone, Atto. What on Arda was Almariel playing at, anyway? I'd love to know just what these horrid designs were all about. Surely she can't be that colourblind, or was she just trying to humiliate Finda for staying away so long? That's incredibly petty and vindictive. But then, she is a "Balrog"...lolol. And of course, Namo showed up to save the day! (Poor Glorfi, though...)
Waiting impatiently for next week to see how Finda gets out of this one...
Tye-melin,
Kaylee
Author's reply
Hi Kaylee. Dreams are indeed odd things. I think Almáriel was trying to get back at Finrod for deserting Amarië when he did and resentment over that simply ate her up so that her good sense (and she does have it as we see in IDB when she stands up against Ingoldo) was destroyed by it (or at least that part dealing with Finrod) and as Lynda pointed out to me in a PM, when we first meet Almáriel in EI-1, she is wearing a green gown with a spray of rosettes and I'm sure her seamstress did a lovely job of it, but the wedding garb was a shade too much.
Anyway, we'll see what happens when Finrod wakes up and how this is resolved in the next chapter.

I'd read the previous chapter before I saw the new Hobbit Diary #4. There is a piece of fabric that the costume designer shows that seems to be a hint of the fabric used on poor Finrod's garment. http://www.thehobbitblog.com/ Time frame of 8:03 and a little afterwards. I had to laugh when I saw it and I immediately thought of our dear Elf.
As for this chapter... WOW! Honestly - I think they best put some Maiar around Finrod till all this is over.
The stress the poor Elf is undergoing is beyond what one Elf should have to endure... what with Almáriel's idiocy, Amarië's disappearance (I have NOT forgiven her for deserting Finrod at this time), the Reborn returning NOW, MORE kings in the Blessed Realm, fabric that recalls death and pain and horror, and the cruelest blow of all, the wedding dress.
You are a wicked man, Fiondil. Perhaps you should be banished to Formenos.... No. That would only give you more time to create vicious and horrific things to assail our Elf.
Author's reply
Hi Agape. Took a look at the blog and I think I saw the fabric there, too. LOL!
I'm sure Manwë has already ordered an entire contingent of Maiar to keep an eye only our little arsonist. He certainly has been under quite a bit of stress lately, hasn't he? *snicker*
And like Glorfindel being exiled to some remote outpost in Gondolin, being exiled to Formenos probably wouldn't be a good idea... you never know what else I might come up with. LOL!
