Oh my, what a cliffhanger!!!
How will Gandalf proceed, I wonder. And what is in Gandalf's opinion the worst that could happen?
I could add more questions, but I know that I just have to wait ;-)
P.S.: I found it very funny that Pippin stood on Merry's shoulders just to be once taller than Aragorn :-)
Author's reply
Hobbits are quite ingenious when it comes to entertaining themselves and their friends. And I suspect it does get quite annoying to have to look up so high all the time to speak to others!
Thank you for reading, my friend. Time to get busy answering all those questions...

You are evil.
At some point, just after the half of the chapter, I thought you'd do this. And of course, you did. Don't you have feelings for your poor readers?
Author's reply
I *love* my readers! Sorry about the cliffie, but some stories just insist on being written this way. :)

Well the first part of their plan has worked, they have Aragorn completely out of it, now to get the Ringwraith out of him!

Aaaaccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
I hate cliffhangers.
Great chapter. Suspense was intense. Had me chewing my nails.
"Elrond closed his eyes for a moment, savoring the sound." This made me weep.
Needless to say, along with your other fans, I wait patiently (NOT!!!).
Author's reply
Thank you, that's a wonderful compliment. Sorry about your nails! :)

Lord have mercy, shirebound, you're killing me with this!! What a suspenseful chapter and a terrific cliffhanger to end it. My heart was pounding by the end. I don't suppose there's any chance of the next one being posted in, oh, I don't know... the next five minutes?
*sigh*
Didn't think so. I'll be anxiously awaiting the next installment!
Author's reply
I wish I could write that quickly these days! I'll try to hurry Gandalf along and I'll take COPIOUS notes about what happens.

Well, that part of the plan worked. Not sure if the rest of Gandalf's plans will work quite as easily, though I hope Aragorn doesn't suffer any further ill from what is happening. Glad to see this story still continuing, Shirebound.
Author's reply
Thank you, Fiondil. There's more to Gandalf than meets the eye (or the Eye), thankfully. :)

Frodo’s eyes filled with tears. “As a prisoner?” You know, you about broke my heart with this question and all that it implies. And if Gandalf's plan works, I can't help but wonder how it will effect Aragorn when he is told what happened to him. Or will they? *ponders*
Author's reply
I'm pondering, too! We'll both have to wait and see what happens. Thanks so much, Addie.
Oh my, I just hope this works out well. It's been a great story so far.

· Chapter 7: The Plan
A daring plan, even more than the plan to destroy the Ring itself, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I do look forward to seeing how this will all play out! Don't keep us in suspense too long. This is a great story! Of course Sam would object to Frodo being in danger and of course Frodo would step up to doing what needed to be done. I forgot to mention in the last chapter Aragorn mentioning, without knowing why, that he was hungry as though he had not eaten in a thousand years, and the joy and love he and the hobbits share.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Bless those hobbits! They lighten the darkest moments, and keep everyone both grounded and delighted.

Oh, my dear, you are getting quite angsty here! :) This is getting scarier all the time. Love Frodo's words at the end.

It isn't easy for me to delve into the angsty stuff! It helps to know that once it's over, there will be comfort and healing galore. :)

I am delighted to be back here. Thank God for the blessed stubbornness and cheer of hobbits! The part with Gandalf and Sam was interesting. So I take it the presence is not the wraith himself, but something within him that took him over first and is now inside Aragorn? That's scary that he doesn't know. Hope the plans to keep him distracted works.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Yes, it's a fragment of consciousness that had been enspelled into the knife hilt found at Weathertop. It's an idea I'd been thinking about for awhile and finally found a story to tell.

I have finally got back to this! I wondered what would happen when Gandalf spoke those words and there we have it. That's interesting that Frodo was able to see it. And surprising that the evil force had the sense to quiet itself. Love of course Sam's words about Frodo needing food and rest. Now happily moving onto the next chapter...
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

· Chapter 7: The Plan
Sounds like a plan, let's hope it works.
I think the wraith has forgotten he is dealing with a Man, who is not as strong in the mind arts at an Elf, which unfortunately can work both ways.
I get the impression, maybe from Fan Fic, that Olorin and Mairon were very close at one time, this could work to Gandalf's advantage. We will see how it goes.
Huggs,
Lynda

Yes, we'll see how it goes! Gandalf may be boldly going where no Maia has gone before. :)

“Frodo,” Gandalf said, “are you willing to stand with me?”
“I am,” Frodo said, his voice calm and certain. “I trust you.” Sam looked unhappy, but said nothing.
I trust you too and know this has to work. After all, we need to get to the comforting and healing. :oD
I have been so enjoying this and it's been wonderful to see you writing again my friend. (((HUGS)))

This rather reminds me of the exorcisms that I've heard of over here. Once the "thing" that possesses a person is out, it's imperative that it should be contained at once. Gandalf is right, Frodo is the best person to help draw out the darkness out of Aragorn, but oh, what a HUGE risk that is.
Don't leave us in suspense for too long!
Author's reply
This is definitely a risky plan, but it's all Gandalf has been able to come up with. Thank you so much for reading. I'll update as soon as I can!

Ok! I loved the Arwen part, the Pippin part, the Glorfindel part, the Frodo part, the Sam part.
Oh heck! I loved the whole chapter.
Except for the Gandalf part.... Hmmmm.... Never trust a wizard. He is really taking a chance with this one. I very much feel it is in Gandalf's nature, as Tolkien wrote him, that you follow with this wild and crazy scheme....
Shees! Going to bed with a cold compress on my forehead.
Author's reply
LOL, Gandalf does tend to be a bit overconfident on occasion, doesn't he? Hopefully he'll be able to pull this off... with a little help. I'm so glad you're enjoying this!

Wow that is a risky plan, but I'm sure Gandalf will pull it off. Aragorn is lucky to have such loyal and dear friends. I'm glad Arwen is there for him too.

It does sound to be a workable plan, if terribly risky for Frodo. Good luck, Gandalf!

He appreciates your good wishes! This will be a test indeed... but as Strider told the hobbits in FOTR, "Do not give up hope! Gandalf is greater than you Shire-folk know."

· Chapter 7: The Plan
Oh, I LOVED sleeping Aragorn here! And Arwen... I'm a sucker for Arwen caring for him, and we just don't see that very often. I echo Cairistiona---can you make this chapter 30 pages long? I will eat it up with a spoon, I promise. And of course, so very glad that Gandalf was there... there's never enough Gandalf and Aragorn interaction to suit me, either, in fanfic in general.
LOL at Pippin's remark to Aragorn about the healing rooms! And it's so sweet that the hobbits are so very worried and insistent on staying with Aragorn and seeing him through this---even though Merry and Pippin don't really know what is going on.
But---GANDALF! What an idea you have there... it's quite frightening! I only hope that bit of consciousness can indeed be destroyed so quickly. Poor Sam---“That evil thing would be zooming around, and encouraged to aim for Mr. Frodo?” That made me smile. I'm with you, Sam! It sounds terrible! But then, Gandalf is pretty much always full of ideas that sound intensely scary and life-threatening. So this is no different!
I can't wait for the next chapter... I'm really wondering if this is going to work or run into an unforeseen complication. I'm hoping the latter, as I certainly don't want this story to be over any time soon! I'm enjoying it WAY too much for that.
Author's reply
Gandalf does tend to come up with the wildest and riskiest plans, doesn't he? But he can usually only carry them out with the aid and courage of others.
There are so many touches I'm adding just for you, Lily, such as Gandalf sitting by Aragorn's bedside, and... perhaps one more complication. I'm so happy you're enjoying this. *big hugs*
