Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 14: The hour of Destiny

Ah, yes, he DID have a choice at that moment; and his choice marked his rule as the Renewer! Perfect!

Author's reply

Thank you, I'm so pleased you enjoyed this.

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 13: The Best of Seasons

A good season and a good reason to share with their son.

Author's reply

Thank you, I'm sure Eldarion liked that answer!

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 12: The Brave die only Once

Excellent! This is the determination that won time to bring Frodo to Elrond!

Author's reply

Thank you. Aragorn was so brave here!

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 11: Tedium

I can certainly appreciate his concerns! It's an often thankless job!

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 10: The Age of Innocence

And of this "sampling" a child might well be born to cause trouble to the succession. Faramir is offering excellent advice, after all.

Author's reply

You will recall in my sub universe that is exactly what happens with Hanna and Elbeth!Faramir is the wise one here as well as the moral one.

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 9: A Merry Meeting

I suspect that Elrond would have laughed! Heh!

Author's reply

I suspect that he would too.

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 7: Free at Last?

I can certainly appreciate how reluctant she is to fully open herself to hope and happiness once more--this day has become a long time coming.

Author's reply

I feel so sorry for poor Eowyn. At least she found happiness in the end.

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 6: True Royalty

Of what worth are fine garb and jewels if the one wearing them proves a small man? In this case, it is the Man who proves himself in spite of his clothing and physical appearance.

Author's reply

That is so very true. Many thanks.

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 5: The Life of Trees

Love seeing Faramir exploring his Elvish side! Wonderful!

Author's reply

I'm pleased you enjoyed this.It must have been wonderful for Faramir to meet Elves.

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 4: Sweet Harmony

Your title says it all, Linda. Excellent!

Author's reply

Thank you.

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 3: Clarity

Boromir dies, but others live due to his sacrifice; and he at least dies with his honor restored and having sparked Frodo to break away, as he needed to do.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I love it how Tolkien shows that all things eventually work together for good.

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 2: Second Chances

Alas for what he did not receive from Denethor; but in the end he has more.

Author's reply

He has indeed far more. Faramir deserves his happiness now.

Larner · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 1: Dust and Ashes

Nice to see these here. A good precis of Denethor's thoughts leading to his tragic choice.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked this glimpse of Denethor's thoughts.

Raksha The Demon · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 14: The hour of Destiny

Oh, I like this one! A sharp, succinct exploration of the undercurrents beneath Aragorn's choice to heal Faramir. What irony, that the man who most needed Aragorn's help was the one who could block, or at least forestall, Aragorn's claim to the kingship of Gondor and thus also his marriage to Arwen. Aragorn could well have been aware of all that when he made that fateful choice in that hour of Destiny...

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated reviewI've always enjoyed the irony and been surprised that more writers haven't explored itMaybe you will one day?I'm pleased that you enjoyed this.

shirebound · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 14: The hour of Destiny

Now is my hour of trial, a trial as great as when I could have seized the Ring. I never thought of that. What a fascinating idea.

Author's reply

Thank you. It has always struck me as a supreme irony that Aragorn is hailed first as King and recognised as such by the people by saving the one man who stood in his way in Gondor!

shirebound · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 13: The Best of Seasons

A wonderful answer, and such a happy, gentle conversation between father and son.

Author's reply

THank you, I'm pleased that you enjoyed this.

Niniel · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 14: The hour of Destiny

I really loved this drabble, seeing Aragorn's thoughts as he had to choose whether or not to save Faramir. I had never linked it to the struggle between not claiming the ring and taking it. But I liked that a lot. It seemed fitting, especially considering the (movie!) scene where Arwen tells Aragorn not to fear the past and that he is Isildur's heir, not Isildur himself. It is a nice reflection back to that uncertainty in Aragorn.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this drabble.

shirebound · 21 March 2011 · Chapter 12: The Brave die only Once

He had given his oath. Standing by that oath took him very far indeed... to his very destiny.

Author's reply

It did indeed.

shirebound · 20 March 2011 · Chapter 9: A Merry Meeting

Forgive me for not reviewing each chapter, but I'm enjoying these small glimpses very much. It makes me smile to think that Aragorn and Pippin's 'informal meeting' might have given him a chuckle or smile when he needed one.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I fully understand you are busy and you are one of the few that reviews at all ,so please don't feel guilty. I'm just happy to know that you are enjoying these drabbles.I only wish Hobbit Muses came my way more often to write something for you.

Raksha The Demon · 16 March 2011 · Chapter 6: True Royalty

Excellent contrast between appearances and reality, glitter and gold; continuing Tolkien's own theme of Aragorn's worth beneath mud-caked boots and travel-worn cloak...

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed this. I think one of Tolkien's main lessons is not to judge by appearances.

Raksha The Demon · 16 March 2011 · Chapter 7: Free at Last?

Awww; poor Eowyn. You capture her resistance and fragility very well; and the last line is a killer...

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Eowyn is a character I struggle to write so I'm pleased that you enjoyed this.

Raksha The Demon · 16 March 2011 · Chapter 5: The Life of Trees

This is lovely - excellent contrast between Elf and Man, as well as the similarity of two noble souls. I love the ambiguity at the end.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked my rare attempt to write about Faramir and Legolas!

harrowcat · 15 March 2011 · Chapter 4: Sweet Harmony

A lullaby duet - what a lovely thought.

Author's reply

Thank you,I'm pleased that you liked it.

harrowcat · 12 March 2011 · Chapter 3: Clarity

Poor Boromir! I hope that the clarity he finds beyond the grave shows him the truth.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I hope Boromir sees what happens from beyond the grave too.
