Next time I go to Disneyland, and I ride that ride, I'll be thinking of Legolas, and it'll be all your fault! LOL! Although I don't mind thinking of Legolas...or Thranduil! Hee! My Sindar...:)
I see you neglected to mention that Ondoher's spare was named Faramir. *grin* But I loved the image of Ondoher here, praying. It's beautiful. So sad to think of what Gondor will soon come to...

Erchirion! I don't think I've seen much, if anything, about him before, much less him with Faramir. Interesting concept...I remember reading your comment about Imrahil as Father of the Year vs. Denethor...I think you're quite right.
Ai, poor Frodo! Definitely glad he has Sam by his side. "...To Mordor." Oh...chilling!

I just love this! I do not have my copy of the LotR trilogy anymore; I lent it to a friend and despair of getting it back. *sigh* I remember this name, but can't remember exactly who Ghan-buri-Ghan is.

Awww, poor Finwe, poor Miriel, and especially poor Feanaro! That's all I can say about this one...Beautiful and sad.
Oh, eggnog is amazing. I like the idea of Rohan having it, and of Aragorn importing it to the Reunited Kingdom.

Oh, this is so sad! With so little words, in just a two simple sentences, you managed to depict such sorrow. So well done!

*squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*
No, seriously, I was really excited when I saw this--I have never seen anyone else write fic set in the Shire in this year.
And then to find out that this was a response to a wee bit of speculation... Well, I'm really happy.
As for the drabble itself, I thought that this beautifully encapsulated the slow feeling of fading that I've always associated with the Fourth Age. Please thank the Mallorn for me for giving you what it did!
Author's reply
I don't think I've ever seen anyone touch on the Shire at that time either. Most fanfics stop touching on the Shire around the time that Sam sails west and Pippin and Merry head east to spend their final years with Eomer and Aragorn. Thank YOU for your lovely comments that give me new ideas!

· Chapter 21: #21 - Stew (Fourth Age 2, Bag End, Hobbiton, The Shire)
This is such a sweet, almost wistful moment--I say "almost" because I think that Sam's easy way of talking to Rosie show how much he's already healed from Frodo's loss. Deceptively simple.
Author's reply
Celeritas, I marvel at how many layers you seem to find in these drabbles, when all I'm seeing in my head is the scene progressing out, as if watching a film. Half the time I don't see the subtext until days after the piece hit the keyboard. Thank you for helping me to see them more clearly.

· Chapter 20: #20 - Foreboding (TA 3018, Late July, Rohan)
I think it's most telling that Boromir can only recognize his foreboding as the "oddest feeling," not "my death lies beyond this door." He may have bouts of Numenorean foresight, but he can't seem to recognize them as such--or, if he does, he downplays them for the sake of his friend.
Author's reply
I never thought of Boromir being "dense" in regards to the Numenorean gifts that seem to populate his family line in canon and fanon, but I did always see him as a more practical man, who would be less likely to act on the feelings, hunches and visions that Faramir seems to act upon more easily. I'm getting more interested in what sort of things happened to Boromir that made it take almost 4 months to get to Imladris, even allowing for the valley being hidden as well as it is.
A wonderful look at this era, but it's true of all wars, even among those who are deemed victorious.
Author's reply
Aye. Winner or loser in battle, all sides are losers when it comes to looking at the aftermath for the families of those who went to war. Thanks for commenting!

Presentation may draw the eye, but it's taste that truly sells the pie, as the innkeeper's wife (I must suppose) finds to her delight. Hooray! Part of what makes the Pony the place both Big and Small go of a quiet evening.
Author's reply
Just as long as no black riders are near! I've always enjoyed reading about different authors' interpretations of the folk of Bree, and just had to try my own. Thanks for the comment!
We know that the Brandybucks saw the wisdom of wearing boots in the rainy season as they kept watch on the river for signs of impending flooding and probably for items and individuals swept away upstream. I doubt either Frodo or Merry turned them down. And Tolkien himself drew Bilbo wearing red boots during his adventures along the road with the Dwarves.
Author's reply
I've never seen that particular picture of Bilbo; I'll have to look for it. :) I figure that Hobbits are like my youngest daughter. Going barefoot is the preference, but will wear shoes when safety and extremely severe weather require it. Thanks for the review!
There is something each wishes for, and to protect if he can. And to wish for his brother and his father's praise speaks volumes of Faramir's life.
Author's reply
My own dad wasn't one for overt praise, so when he did praise me for something I did, I held it closer than jewels. :) Thanks!

· Chapter 15: #15 - Thief (TA 2985, The Marish, The Shire)
Celeritas may like that the Missus was instrumental in bringing Frodo to justice; I'm glad she's bringing him to the realization that what he's doing is simple theft, and he doesn't need to do it! Well done!
Author's reply
Stories of teen-aged (or tween-aged) hi-jinks sound funny, unless you are the victim of their depredations. But they do make for interesting character development when writing fanfic! :) Thanks for the review!

From personal experience, it's a thrill to be surprised by a blue ribbon when you were expecting nothing at all. Although I bet Mrs. Butterbur's pie tasted even better than mine!

Awww! Good for Mrs. Butterbur! Pretty is nice, but the proof is in the taste when it comes to pies (and preserves, and pickles, and...etc.).
