· Chapter 9999: Epilogue
I know it's probably way too late to leave a review for this story, but I just now discovered it and read it. So just in case anyone ever reads this, I just have to say that I love the way you get inside Gaergath's head and describe his every thought and feeling, and how he's not all good and not all evil. It makes him come to life.

Quite a confrontation between the boy and his alleged father. Not the type of father I'd want!
Author's reply
Nor I! But Gaergath hasn't much choice in the matter....
And I guess we both know Sauron isn't going to do a Darth Vader in the end.......

· Chapter 12: Shapes
So, he's managed to get the horse taken care of, and now intends to investigate the one who calls herself his mother? But he's already deeply into her world now.

· Chapter 11: Revelry
Not exactly the kind of behavior I'd wish to see from my kid, of course. But she approves? Not that her behavior is what I'd wish to see from my mother!
Author's reply
She's not likely to win any Mother of the Year awards, is she? And it seems there's a bit of Evil Superman in Gaergath already......

He has indeed lost himself to the light now. Too bad he didn't leave when given the chance.

· Chapter 9: Blood Kin
Is this life truly worth it?
Author's reply
Maybe not...but someone needs to do away with her! And I'm not even entirely sure yet that he's going to be the one to do it. Or how he's going to do it. Or even if anybody is going to do it. Who knows? We'll just see!

· Chapter 8: Force
He is a foolish young man, isn't he? Has a lot to learn.
Author's reply
Yes...but who is going to teach him?

· Chapter 7: Hyldreth
At least she cares what becomes of him, and would have him go free. Too bad he chose not to.
Author's reply
Yes, but he is very intent on revenge, and on doing something out of the ordinary. Sort of "Hamlet meets Wally Cleaver" maybe...or Eddie Haskell...or a synthesis of the two? Something like that......

· Chapter 6: The Garden
A good question!
Author's reply
A lot of the old vampire movies feature a "keeper" so I thought to supply mine with one too. Sure, why not? At least it will give Gaergath someone to talk to in the daytime and supply some information.

And he has sold himself to her, apparently.
Author's reply
Yes.....I guess he's sort of Greenjade's opposite number, Greenjade starting out as a bad guy and turning good, while Gaergath is a good guy (relatively) who goes bad. I think of him as a rather ordinary young boy who is sadly lacking guidance and self-control, with the natural narcissism and self-centeredness of youth, and his inevitable descent into the dark side could happen to pretty nearly anybody. It's a challenge writing about someone who you know is not going to be redeemed, but an interesting one. Thanks for commenting Larner!

· Chapter 3: Hoofprints
A hopeful dream, I must say, to kill his "aunt" and Sauron both.
Author's reply
Well, we know he isn't going to kill Sauron. As for his aunt...hmmm! We'll just see...*hums*
Thanks for commenting Larner!

· Chapter 2: Silent Night
So, he will soon actually meet his true mother. And the tales he's told the other boys aren't really lies after all....
Author's reply
If she indeed can be called his "true" mother...

Ooh! Definitely creepy! Yes!
Author's reply
I didn't think I'd be going all Stephen King in this fandom, but oh well...and it is kinda fun really;)

I enjoy reading this story. Please continue! Gaergath seems so innocent and well meaning, how are you going to change him to an evil person as portrayed in the other story? Or perhaps, he was not so evil, after all?
Author's reply
Thanks for commenting Praveen! I think his desire for revenge and his natural curiosity about the unknown will work to draw him over to the dark side, but how and when he'll end up succumbing, I'm not entirely sure yet. Since he is now lacking guidance, and grew up without any strong parental figures, he is especially vulnerable to temptation from the wrong quarter, and it seems inevitable and tragic that he should turn out as he did. I just work with the muse and let the story happen, as always. I've been having computer problems this weekend or I'd have put up another chapter, maybe I can get it done tomorrow or day after.
I'm glad you enjoy the story! Thanks once again!
