Dreamflower · 24 August 2004 · Chapter 16: Endings and Beginnings

Well, I'm glad Frodo got to see that lasses are not always about giggles, but the goodbyes are always sad, even though we know these cousins will continue to see a lot of each other. I truly enjoyed the Yule part of all this. Very hobbity and cheerful.

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 15: Applesauce

Well, I have seen many versions of how Pippin got his nickname, but this one, I daresay, is unique! And I don't think I've ever seen one in which Sam gave him his name.

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 13: No Yule Would Be Merry Without Pippin' Hot Food

Wonderful introduction of our Took! And I hope we will see more adventures of Rangers Frodomir, Samomir, and maybe they will be joined by Ranger Merimir?

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 14: Stories

How lovely and hobbity. Our four favorite lads all together having a story. And I did, by the way, recognize most of it. It's a classic, and very likely to have been told in some form or other in Middle-earth. And just imagine, the future Thain was drooling on the future Mayor, if only he knew it. LOL!

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 12: Breakfast

Well, at least all Daisy's doing is looking and giggling. And maybe in her mind she's writing a little story with herself as a MarySue.

Author's reply

ROTFL!! Sorry for replying to reviews in such a random and untimely fashion, but I just have to say... I love that idea. It disturbs me how easily I can imagine Daisy doing such a thing... ;)

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 11: The Wrath of Mad Baggins

Oh YESSS! (Pumps fist in air!) Good for Bilbo! Hit'em in the pocketbook--even better than Sting. I absolutely adore a righteous Bilbo!

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 10: Second Day of Yule

Oops. Daisy, huh? Poor Frodo...

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 9: A New Seed is Planted

ALL RIGHT!!! Bilbo's finally mad and at the right people, and Frodo knows he didn't do anything wrong. I'm looking forward to seeing Bilbo put the S.-B.s in their place. Maybe he should take Sting along, just to give them a good scare!

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 8: Various Visitors

Oh NO! Bilbo didn't even LOOK! and Frodo thinks he's going to be punished? Oh, come on, Bilbo...

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 7: Secrets

Oh dear, Frodo trying to hide it from Bilbo, and then making poor little Sam promise not to tell Bilbo. I'm so glad that Sam is going to have enough hobbit sense to tell his Gaffer. Oooh! (singing)Lotho's in troooouble...

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 6: Consequences

Uh-oh! I hope he's not too badly injured. Have to keep reading and find out...

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 5: Undesirable Encounters

Ohboyohboyohboy!!! I *love* it when Frodo stands up to Lotho. (I've had him give it to Lotho myself, on Merry's behalf in "A Place for Gandalf"). Isn't it *fun* to have Frodo give it to the bullying creep?

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 4: Winter Fun

How nice--a snowball fight, and winter fun! Nice little interlude after the angst--makes me think something dire is coming up. On to the next chapter...

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 3: A Gamgee Interlude

*giggle* So Daisy had a crush on Frodo. Well, hopefully, Belle will nip *that* in the bud! Poor Frodo!

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 2: A Seed is Planted

Ooooh, nasty S.-B.'s! Poor Frodo, having to encounter them like that! Beautifully handled!

Dreamflower · 23 August 2004 · Chapter 1: The Troll Under the Bed

Apparently this story has been here a while, I can't think why I haven't read it before! I absolutely love Frodo's method of luring Sam out from under the bed--I can easily imagine him having done just that with his beloved Merry. I've often thought that Merry was the main reason Frodo was so easily able to make friends with Sam, who was also much younger.

Author's reply

Yes, I like that idea! :) Merry would have given Frodo lots of practice at dealing with young kids, I think.

Jeodo Brandybuck · 17 August 2004 · Chapter 38: Swimming

But when... when shall it be continued? Oh. Pardon, that's not very polite, to whine for more before I've told you how much I enjoy your story -- which I do, very much. I giggled over the Sam-o-mir for days, and I'm looking forward to the continuing story. I like your characterizations, and am delighted by the environments you've created. Very well done. In particular, I love Frodo's early efforts at telling stories. Your Bilbo is spot-on too, and not just a background prop, which is a delightful change from one or two of the stories from various other authors. Now? All right. But when...when shall it be continued? Looking forward to reading the next piece. Jeodo Brandybuck

Author's reply

Well, thank you for reading and reviewing! I've had insane writer's block lately, but the next few chapters should come a lot faster. :)

Auntiemeesh · 5 August 2004 · Chapter 38: Swimming

Another wonderful chapter! I loved Frodo's memory of his father teaching him to swim. Poor lad, it seems this visit to Brandy Hall is summoning up all sorts of memories and feelings he'd rather forget. I hope Bilbo is able to help him 'deal with the past' before too long. Looking forward to more :)

Author's reply

Before too long, definitely. :) Thanks for reviewing.

powerwriter · 5 August 2004 · Chapter 38: Swimming

It took a while, but I got through all 38 chapters! I liked this last one with the flashback. It was cute, and also sad too. I hope you post a new chapter soon! This is quite a story!

Author's reply

Wow, I'll bet that took awhile! Thanks for reading, and taking the time to review. I hope you continue to enjoy. :)

powerwriter · 5 August 2004 · Chapter 29: Goodbye, Hamson

I never had a thought about Sam's older siblings, but your perspective on them has opened my eyes to their characters! Awww, Hamson is leaving...that's sad.

Author's reply

I don't know why I got so interested in Sam's siblings... all they are is a bunch of birth years in the genealogies at the back of ROTK. But characterizing them is strangely addictive! And I'm sure Hamson will be back. I'm especially fond of him, you see... 0:-)

powerwriter · 5 August 2004 · Chapter 9: A New Seed is Planted

GRRR! Those bad S-Bs! Poor Frodo has had it hard enough without them beatin' on him.

Author's reply

Yup. But I just can't help inserting S-B's at every possible point in this story... :-\

Hai Took · 17 July 2004 · Chapter 38: Swimming

Poor Frodo! You did a good job in Frodo reliving his memories! How terribly sad that he has to remember them like that every time he is in Buckland! Very nicely done, thank you!

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing! Don't worry, things will get much better for Frodo. :)

Elwen · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 38: Swimming

What a tender scene between father and son. I could see and feel it all vividly. Beautifully described.

Author's reply

Thank you!

esamen · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 38: Swimming

Frodo didn't need to ask this time if Drogo would hold on. Slowly he sank down again, took a deep breath and pinched his nose shut. His chin, mouth, and ears went under, and then Frodo leaned back in his father's arms. His nose was underwater, and then his eyes. He had forgotten to close his eyes! But it was all right; the water didn't hurt. Frodo looked up at his father in wonder, through a thin layer of clear water. He saw Drogo's face register surprise when he realized Frodo's eyes were still open, then he smiled widely. Frodo smiled too. Oh, my. This is a little spooky. Knowing what we know about the future . . . I'm a little worried. Something bad is going to happen! I will have to cover my eyes as I read. It might be too scary for me. Seriously, though, I just love living in this world. This story just continues to get better. Please bring it on in bundles . . . fun, action, angst, comfort, fluff, hobbits galore! I can't wait!

Author's reply

Spooky, yes! I hadn't thought of it that way. :-\ Lots more bundles to come though, in all those varieties. :)

Hai Took · 12 July 2004 · Chapter 37: Arrival at Brandy Hall

The reaquaintance between Frodo and Pippin was cute! Pippin didn't take too long to warm up! Frodo thinking of how his appearance would reflect on Bilbo was very sweet! I'm glad he went to visit Poppy! The way she decided that Bilbo was doing Frodo some good was sweet as well! Looking forward to more and hoping it will be soon!

Author's reply

I'm glad you liked it!
