Larner · 15 October 2013 · Chapter 7: The Way the Tide Flows

I'd never taken thought that Elrond, Galadriel, and Cirdan might have not pushed the advice to destroy the One Ring in order to sustain the powers of the three Rings they held. Definitely food for thought! And it is good to know that Legolas and Gimli came to Cirdan for advice at the end.

Author's reply

I’ve never been satisfied with Elrond’s abridged version at the Council. Complicated things, Rings!

shirebound · 13 October 2013 · Chapter 7: The Way the Tide Flows

I was eager to get to the end of this conversation and confirm who the visitors were, and wasn't disappointed. This is a marvelous, perceptive piece, and no doubt Cirdan has given much thought to all of these matters. In time it became a burden. I felt young, too young, and too old... It had a fire, a demanding one! That's so interesting.

Author's reply

Thanks, Shirebound, this came out of a lot of thought. I had meant to give the visitors some dialogue, but they were happier to stay silent! :)

Larner · 3 October 2013 · Chapter 6: Vertigo

Aha! Turnabout, I see! Heh!

Author's reply

Finrod isn’t above having a little revenge now and then!

Larner · 3 October 2013 · Chapter 5: Waiting

Abandonment by brother, and left to watch over his nephews as if he were the eldest of them. It would be difficult to face in any case. I grieve that he never saw parents or brother again, or not in a recognizable form.

Author's reply

This was more angst than I usually dabble with. Círdan’s character moves me deeply because he survives through age after age but loses everyone he cares for most.

curiouswombat · 2 October 2013 · Chapter 6: Vertigo

Oh how I feel for Cirdan.

Author's reply

Same! High places are for birds and squirrels!

Agape4Gondor · 18 September 2012 · Chapter 2: Nowë’s Ark

This was spectacular! ROTFL And who would have ever thought Cirdan's 'real' name would be so appropriate for this Ark-tale! I loved the mice in the pockets and all the little things that made me giggle. Very nicely done...... However -- I could not help but think that Yavanna's song might be a little ditty entitled, The Unicorn Song. Do you suppose....??? That had me laughing even harder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4bc9UwZsYs

Author's reply

Oh yes, yesyesyesyes! Them silly unicorns!

Agape4Gondor · 18 September 2012 · Chapter 1: Rhyme of the Finwion

This was awesome, besides being fun. I know exactly how Thingol felt. (Now there's another twisty named person - with Turgon no less!) I cut and pasted the poem to help me when I've run amok with a story and put Fingon instead of Finrod. Thanks ever so much for the not-so-good-with-rhyme poem. It does what it was supposed to do.

Author's reply

Thanks much, Agape! Cirdan would be pleased!

Larner · 19 August 2012 · Chapter 5: Waiting

Most interesting exchange, and to think that Nowe did break those three promises. Interesting dynamics to this family.

Author's reply

Thank you Larner! I think Nowe was not one to sit on his bum and twiddle his thumbs, and promises do get stale after a few hundred years!

Larner · 19 August 2012 · Chapter 4: Hunting by Number

Poor Snitch--he is rather clueless, isn't he? Love the reaction to the order of importance offered them! Heh!

ellie · 18 January 2011 · Chapter 4: Hunting by Number

LOL! Very good!

Author's reply

Thank you, ellie! :D

shirebound · 14 January 2011 · Chapter 4: Hunting by Number

Your stories are so clever, and you let humor shine through even in dire situations. And... that is one lucky orc! :)

Author's reply

Very lucky it was Finrod and not someone else! But the orc has no idea… thank you, Shirebound! ^^

Larner · 13 January 2011 · Chapter 4: Hunting by Number

And Cirdan is ninth, is he? Hmm. Morgoth has no idea how much his enemies are capable of doing in the end. And this little orc is far luckier than he realizes!

Author's reply

Well, Círdan does live in Beleriand’s boondocks and Morgoth’s not one for traveling. He really never does learn to stop underestimating his enemies! Thank you, Larner. ^^

Rangerofthenorth · 9 September 2010 · Chapter 2: Nowë’s Ark

the story. Nowe's ark! that's funny. I also forgot to say thst i love the name of the ship, the Massive. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! ^ ^ I like you. (XD) (I love gir)

Author's reply

Ah, you’re sweet. ^^ I love GIR too!! Zim’s my absolute favorite show hands down. :D Thank you again!

Tirnel · 2 September 2010 · Chapter 2: Nowë’s Ark

that's terrible lol :D ...horrible joke XD!

Author's reply

Sorry if I misunderstand! You mean the story or the review...? But thanks for sharing what you think. :)

Larner · 29 August 2010 · Chapter 3: Lavender's Blue

He almost strikes me as a dark haired Gilderoy Lockheart--a bit too much over the top! Cirdan does manage to see through the glamours, which is good!

Author's reply

Lol! Lockheart - Oh my! You’re right! But less stupid and a lot more dangerous. Suddenly I’m envisioning a disturbing Dark Lord Lockheart AU. Hehe… this thought is going to keep me entertained for a while… Thank you, Larner! :D

Raksha The Demon · 25 August 2010 · Chapter 3: Lavender's Blue

No wonder Cirdan gave Narya to Gandalf, rather than Saruman, when the Istari arrived in M-E; Cirdan had heard enough seductive purring from Annatar. Never trust a fellow wearing lavender perfume - at least I wouldn't! Good for Cirdan. An interesting and funny vignette; I did an Annatar-meets-Elrond ficlet awhile back and I love how you've characterized the Lord of Gifts here.

Author's reply

Me neither! Lavender’s a subliminal scent – a guy wearing it can’t be up to any good. ;) I’ll have to check you story out. Pretty ring-tossing Sauron fascinates me. Thank you, Raksha! ^^

shirebound · 23 August 2010 · Chapter 3: Lavender's Blue

I'm really enjoying your stories. What a marvelous meeting between Annatar and Cirdan. He might never achieve the vision, but the pleasure was all in the attempt I think you've caught an artist's true essence in that one line.

Author's reply

Thank you, Shirebound. Hehe, you make me sound all philosophical. You do put it beautifully, though… the thrill’s all the process. :)

shirebound · 2 August 2010 · Chapter 2: Nowë’s Ark

This is just delightful. What a creative and fun tale!

Author's reply

I can only explain it by that it was first drafted in the shower. :P Thank you, Shirebound. ^^

Raksha The Demon · 2 August 2010 · Chapter 2: Nowë’s Ark

Nowe's Ark! Great story! Refreshing and well-written. I love the way Yavanna breezes in and takes care of her critters. Poor Cirdan/Nowe and his helpers have such a chore; but it does all make sense.

Author's reply

I couldn’t picture Yavanna sitting by while the poor critters got drowned. And the title was too fun to resist. :D

Larner · 2 August 2010 · Chapter 2: Nowë’s Ark

Poor hares! Poor crewmen! And poor Massive! Heh!

Author's reply

And poor vocal chords of Yavanna too. ^_^

Larner · 2 August 2010 · Chapter 1: Rhyme of the Finwion

As a means to sort them all out, I suspect that as awful as the poem is, it will work! Thanks for the giggle!

Author's reply

Though if it works, I suspect he won’t let it on to Círdan. :P Thank you, Larner! ^^

ellie · 31 July 2010 · Chapter 1: Rhyme of the Finwion

ROTFL!

Author's reply

Danke! ^_^

daw the minstrel · 31 July 2010 · Chapter 1: Rhyme of the Finwion

What was Tolkien thinking to give them all such similar names? And then to change them!

Author's reply

Dunno! Elves are either very poetic or very silly. :P Oo!! *shudders* I don’t even want to consider their Quenya names. Thank you, Daw! ^_^
