· Chapter 9999: An Encore--Some Day
Childhood dreams do not always reflect reality, but one would hope when Frodo faced down the dragon caused by the dragon - his PTSD - and received healing, then the ending that Bilbo wanted for his book really would come true!
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
I do believe that happened. Thanks so, Antane!

Kind of a melancholy end to a lovely series of drabbles. You're so creative! And I enjoyed all of them.
Author's reply
I'm so glad you enjoyed them. Yes, a bit melancholy, but that is part of the experience of life Frodo knew. Thank you so!

I was wondering what you would come up with for "Z". This has been a delightful, light-hearted grouping and I have loved every tidbit.

Author's reply
And I thank you, Erulisse. Had to throw in one last drabble as an encore of sorts. Hope all enjoy it. Thanks!

LOL!
I love this series--I can manage to read a drabble, these days, on occasion, and what a lift the reading gives me!
Thanks for the smile today. Hope this finds you well.
Author's reply
Am so glad it has managed to give a bit of enjoyment to your days, Lindelea. Doing okay, mostly. Love to the family and beasties.

· Chapter 25: Yesterday
And if Bilbo and Gandalf thought Frodo was the best before he went on the Quest, imagine how they felt afterwards. Not just Middle-earth benefited from his existence!
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
That is SO true, Antane! But to see the quest cost him so much must have been very difficult for both of them.

Oh, how right you are, Bilbo. How right you are. But Frodo couldn't have found that strength and determination without the lessons you taught him and the love you showed him.
Author's reply
Indeed, GamgeeFest! So true that is! Two of the best of the best!

Tricksey hobbit! :) Gotta to love it.

I bet that Bilbo had his share of fun with the younger denizens of Hobbiton! Heh! Thanks!

LOL! Those two! Wonder how many other "treasure maps" those poor lads have found. Clearly, Sancho never gave up looking for that treasure. :D
Author's reply
Obviously! And I bet Bilbo had fun drawing each and every one, too. Thanks!

Interesting way of getting the boys to dig a hole for the new tree. Hopefully they will be pleased with their "treasure" ;-)
Author's reply
Oh, indeed, Sunny. A bit roundabout, perhaps, but effective and fun to plan out, heh!

· Chapter 23: Writing Wills
How bittersweet to know what the future holds....
I'm enjoying seeing so much of Bilbo in these ficlets.
Author's reply
Yes, we do know what will happen. I'm rather grateful that at this point neither Bilbo nor Frodo does.
And it's been a joy to write the old dear!

· Chapter 22: Visiting with the Violets
Nitpick: "...each with a viscous smile." Don't you mean vicious?
Author's reply
Actually, I chose the word I meant. I wanted to indicate their smiles were cloyingly syrupy in nature as well as somewhat oily. I suppose I could have used "vapid," but that indicates mindlessness, while I see these young ladies as being particularly predatory and calculating in nature. To capture Bilbo's ward and apparent heir to Bag End and the Hill would have been quite the coup for any one of them.
Thanks!

lol! Those two Bagginses really are like in mind whenever mischief is concerned. :)

Blame Kaylee for this one! She's the one who reminded me where it was we first heard the name of Abelard, after all! Heh! Glad it gave you a giggle!

· Chapter 21: Umbrellas
Ah! I'd forgotten Bilbo gave Adelard an umbrella stand.
Reminds me of our lost/spare/mystery umbrella collection at work. It would grow until I would beg the staff to take them: and then we'd get a downpour and there weren't any on hand....
So what did Frodo do about getting a *new* umbrella stand?
Author's reply
Well, he obviously would need such a thing, I'd think! Heh!
With my school its coats. I am certain LOTS of mothers must have been frustrated each year when their children came home without their coats, having left them in the gym or on the playground or the music room and not taking the time to fetch them later or check in the office when prompted. Some of them would be brand new and lovely things, and still no one would claim them.
Thanks so, and thank Kaylee, too!

· Chapter 19: Samwise
I've often wondered the same thing. I've read a number of fanfics where the Gaffer was rather abusive, and then one that stands out from the rest, where the Gaffer thoughtfully and deliberately names his son Samwise because he sees some special spark there, and he doesn't want the lad to be ruined by having a big head, or something like that.
Love the picture of Sam and the snapdragon, and the foreshadowing.
Author's reply
I, too, read that fic. Our dear Samwise with his so inappropriate a name. Bless him! A bow here to Antane and to the film--and to my own love of snapdragons! Plus, it's a nice S-word in its own right! Heh!
Love to the Hobbitlings, Zoe, the Interloper, and the husband. If they ever change to the expected final schedule I'll be down.
