To leave messages and conduct business. Ha! This was really cute -- it made me laugh as soon as I discovered the POV, and the whole thing was just fun! I liked the game w Estel's boots especially... :-)

Author's reply

Thank you so much. You can tell that my pup Pippin greatly inspires me. :)

Addie71 · 20 September 2011 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Aw, this was a delightful little romp. I loved reading Scamp's pov!

Author's reply

Thanks, Addie, I loved writing it! Even a wee pup can have adventures.

julchen11 · 31 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Oh I LOVE THIS! What a wonderful chapter, sweetie!

Author's reply

Thank you, Julchen! These sweet little scenes make me happy.

Kara's Aunty · 27 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Hello shirebound, what a delightful wee fic! Scamp is so completely enchanting; it was a real pleasure to view the hobbits and Aragorn through her eyes. Gives a whole new perspective on them! I really, really enjoyed this fluff-fest (and I really, really want that dog). M :o)

Author's reply

Thank you! Things (and doggies) are rather on the fluffy side in this AU. I love it there. :)

lbilover · 23 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

What a sweet, sweet story, and so gently humorous. I love the bit about the Ranger's boots appearing and disappearing. :-) I hope your new pup will help inspire more Scamp tales!!

Author's reply

Thank you, my friend. This 'verse inspires me greatly, and brings me so much joy. Poor Estel, with his boots being such tempting prey! :)

Linda Hoyland · 21 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

This was just beautiful! I loved this glimpse of Hobbits, Ranger and Elves through Scamp's eyes!

Author's reply

Thank you, Linda! I enjoyed writing from Scamp's POV. :)

nancylea57 · 21 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

i love the au where frodo and aragorn meet so early in life; and this just teases me to want more stories of their time together. love the point of view angle, makes so much more of the bonds that tie them all together to see it from a unique side. MORE, P.L.E.A.S.E!!!!!!!!

Author's reply

Thank you, Nancylea! I love this AU as well, and have enjoyed writing all of the stories in this series. It's such a happy and gentle time for all of them.

Grey Wonderer · 21 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Oh, I loved Scamp's POV. Adorable. I liked her views on everyone and how she enjoyed each of her traveling companion's company for a different reason. This was such fun to read. And I do agree with Frodo, it was too early to be up.

Author's reply

It's always too early to be up! If only we could snooze when we want to, like certain house- (or smial-) pets. I'm so happy you liked this wee piece. Scamp does have definite (and adorable) opinions. :)

Antane · 20 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

A sweet story with all Scamp's observations of hobbits. I love the Quarantined world. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Antane. This world is definitely my 'happy place'. :)

Larner · 20 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

What a wonderful morning for an eager small dog who knows but love! Love that the Elves sense her interest and send her back to her sleep, and that Aragorn loves her tugging game, while Frodo and she share the dreams of white shores. Just lovely!

Author's reply

Thank you. This happy, peaceful scene seemed like a natural one for our wee hobbit pup.

suzy_74 · 20 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Aww. I adore Scamp and this was so so sweet. :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Suzy. :)

Lily Baggins · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Oh yes, this certainly does tip the scales of the Fluff-o-meter---it's delightful! I smiled all the way through it. What a lovely little fic. LOL at Scamp attempting to chew on Aragorn's bootlaces all the time! Oh goodness, reading this is making me homesick for more Quarantined stories!

Author's reply

Yay, I'm glad this gave you a smile! I'd love to come up with another Quarantined plot sometime.

Raksha The Demon · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Very sweet! I love Scamp's perception of the Elves.

Author's reply

Thank you! :)

Estelcontar · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

A most charming and delightful story. I loved to see our beloved characters through the eyes of scamp. She's a very wise dog indeed.

Author's reply

It's been fun to see her evolve into a fully-realized character over the course of these stories. I'm very happy you enjoyed this.

Marethiel · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

This is absolutely charming! What a delight to see our beloved hobbits and Ranger from the viewpoint of a puppy. :-) Nice job! marethiel

Author's reply

Thank you! The Professor gave us trees that walk and spiders that talk, so I think even puppies would have a certain "extra something" in Middle-earth. :)

Inzilbeth · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Ah, lovely, Shirebound! Every hobbit should have a Scamp to snuggle up to. And a very apt reminder that, compared with canine trackers, the greatest huntsman of the Third Age wasn't quite so hot!

Author's reply

LOL, you're right about the tracking! But Aragorn does have a few skills of his own; Scamp would probably rather chew athelas than breathe on it. :) I'm glad you enjoyed this.

harrowcat · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Ah...after two days of computer woes that my meddling are just making worse I can still reach 'fluff-dom headquarters'! All is right with the world after all!

Author's reply

Awwww, I'm glad there's fluff to see us through the worst of times. I hope your computer woes don't go on much longer.

cookiefleck · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

It *is* so delightful to snuggle with a warm, loving pup. Your comments about Strider being so tall got me to wondering about Scamp... is he hobbit-sized or what we would think of as human-sized for his breed?

Author's reply

In "Reflections of the Past", where we meet Scamp, we find out that she's very tiny, even for hobbit-pups, and Aragorn calls her the smallest dog he's ever seen. I imagine her as quite a tiny pup by anyone's standards.

Andrea · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Great description of four hobbits and a ranger through Scamp's eyes! I especially liked the "boots procedure" :-) And Elves! How exciting for the little dog! I bet, Pip-dog would react likewise if she ever picked up the scent of Elves.

Author's reply

So glad you enjoyed this wee romp! I think Scamp would look forward to that daily attack on the boots. :) Awwww, Pip-dog. I hope she alerts me if there are ever any elves (or hobbits) in the neighborhood.

lovethosehobbits · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

What a treasure! I so loved this...could almost *feel* what Scamp was feeling. (Did I ever tell you that when I was little we had a dog named Scamp? A story for another time...) Glad to see you writing.

Author's reply

Thank you, my friend. And I look forward to hearing about *your* Scamp!

eiluj · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

A wonderful portrayal of the dog point of view. Scamp herself couldn't find anything you omitted. And then, to cap the scene, *elves*. They remain off-stage, leaving us wanting more: which is of course perfectly appropriate for elves. Did I say the elves cap the scene? I was wrong: despite elvish power, the scene ends where it should, with the center of Scamp's world. And a happy doggish sea-dream that hints to us of Frodo's bittersweet future. Besides being classic Shirefluff, this is *truly* excellent writing, Shirebound. Serious kudos. (Can you tell I liked it?) *bows*

Author's reply

I agree that the center of Scamp's world is Frodo, and I just had to begin and end this scene that way. Thank you for your very lovely words. And... Shirefluff! *grins*

Dreamflower · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Awww...aw, Scamp! This was so sweet, and you really captured the "doggy" POV beautifully! I especially loved the bit about Frodo giving Estel "temporary pack leader" status! I always enjoy a jaunt to this AU, however brief! *tucks Frodo's blanket up snugly around Scamp*

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I love this AU too; it's my 'happy place'. *hobbit and puppy snuggle into blankets and drift back to sleeeeep*

Lindelea · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Ah, but what a lovely Scamp-eyed view of Pippin, Merry, Sam, Frodo, and Aragorn (in order of appearance, at least so far as I remember)! I loved the little details about each one, that distinguished each from Scamp's perspective. And Elves! Of course a dog would be more aware of Elves, than the rest of us might be. Am going to go and scratch a furry ear now, for it is very nearly breakfast time here... (Breakfast is late today, actually, but don't tell the Giant Schnoz. She's content to cuddle with whatever wee hobbit she's graced with her presence, until the food hits her bowl...)

Author's reply

Awww, thank you. I enjoyed showing this special morning through Scamp's eyes and senses. Pip-dog is the same; she never seems to wonder where breakfast is until I start rattling bags and bowls.

Cairistiona · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

"That was the moment when Scamp scurried in for a quick bite and tug on the laces, with the small ones laughing and the Ranger’s deeper chuckle filling the air. He was very, very tall, but was careful around the hobbits and herself, never once stepping on a tail or speaking harshly." Awwwwwwwww. *melts*

Author's reply

Puppyfic! It makes me smile too, especially when 'Estel' is around. *hugs and wags*

Fiondil · 19 May 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Awwww! This was sweet, Shirebound. Nice and gentle. Loved Scamp's description of the Elves: "It was the people who shimmered with light, and seemed somehow both here and not here!" Very appropriate and very true. I wonder if it was Gildor and his people whom Scamp heard.

Author's reply

Thank you so much. Scamp should have wee adventures of her own, now and then. :)
