Ha ha ha! Arwen is one sneaky Queen! Putting the hideous vase out within reach of little Eldarion.

Love the story. Arwen found a good use for the vase and did not lie in the letter. Sometimes thank you's are so hard to write.

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed the story.I recall thank you letters as the "dark side" of Christmas and birthdays when I was young!

Aragorn is right. Arwen excels at diplomatic skills, and trust her to find a way to appreciate the gift. Eldarion's entrance was very vivid, and enjoyable. A delightful prequel to The Vase That Was Broken

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed this prequel. Arwen is a natural diplomat, I think.

Very entertaining - the duties of a queen range from the sublime to the necessary but tedious chores, such as writing to thank foreign dignitaries for giving unattractive but well-meant presents. A great lead-in to The Vase that was Broken!
