I was reminded of Rincewind's first troll encounter here - remember that huge grandad troll?
Also, I just recently found out just how tall people with certain glandular malfunctions can get. No wonder that we have tales of giants in many parts of the world - they're quite true!

An interesting solution to the issue of the existence of giants in Middle-earth.
And I don't blame Frodo for being miffed with Gandalf.
Aragorn was commendably honest, but it wasn't the answer Frodo was hoping to hear....
